I feel like the writers were trying to make him neutral and have him start a war against both with a third party or something but ubisoft stepped in. Cause his dialogue and stuff sounds that way before he joins the templars. Like i will never let this happen again for example or i follow my own creed! Cause anyone with a brain would know the templars would eventually use it too. Thats the part that feels off to me still an awesome story but that never sat right with me. Like it was a last minute decision. And thats where the line is too assassins did it by mistake archillis also understands this too in the end the templars would use it on purpose.
