Assembling & Using the BORA Saw Plate and Rip Handle Set

This rip set is easy to assemble and use and it does a great job. Cuts are straight and smooth and the guide measurements are accurate. The saw guide and the handle feel solid and inspire confidence in just a few cuts.
The instructions, such as they are, are part of the packaging and easy to miss. Also, a few explanatory words to accompany the graphics would help. There is no explanation of tool requirements and I found that a flat blade screwdriver and a small three millimetre hex key did the fastening and unfastening jobs. There is a spring loaded metal piece which should be used to provide additional stability for the circular saw and plate fitting but the bottom of the screw would not sit inside the saw plate and interfered with the cut so I left it out and it did not appear to have a detrimental effect.
Find it on the Home Depot website by searching for this unique reference number, 314129184.

I wish other RU-vid creators would use this video as a template. No jibberjabber, no music, just instruction. The one bit of information that might have been presented verbally was shown on a card (at just the moment as I wanted to know!). Thank you for posting this, Pic Ric. Nicely done.

I absolutely DISAGREE WITH YOU!!! We need verbal speaking instruction and maybe if this person has a mono tone voice like I do then YT should make audio feature with a AI speaking voice. I hate these non speaking videos.

I watched this video and rewatched it.. about 15 times and followed everything you did step by step. I still am getting something wrong: I'm wondering if I have like maybe a left handed saw. I'm fairly intelligent but I'm very new to power tools. I was just thinking it might be a bit more helpful to us newbies if u maybe explained why you were what you were doing as you were doing it. Just a thought: ill keep watching until I get er done.

Thank you very much for your reply.. I figured it out. I am left handed so im so used to everything being backwards for me. But I did everything you did and my saw still wouldn't fit and that's when I noticed that your blade was on the opposite side of mine. My dad was trying to help but he like wasn't understanding what I was saying about the blades on opposite sides. And he was underfoot trying to take over. So I'm sure I was rude in my comment and I apologize for that. I took a picture of my first rip cut and wrote victory is mine on it and text it to everyone I know bcuz I've been trying to do this on & off in my free time since April. And now I'm gonna do my project and maybe sell it for enough to buy a table saw to make more! Thank you for the video!

Correct me if I'm wrong but the saw is the SKIL POWER CORE 20 Brushless 20V 6-1/2? If so, can you please give the dimensions of the base plate?
@p-dub22
@p-dub22 4 года назад
Thanks, the included instructions left much to be desired on attaching the saw. I found the squareness to be off by a significant amount over a run. Did you have to squre up your saw to the plate?

If you're considering this or the Kreg Accu-Cut, save yourself the money. I own the Kreg version and I have used it a few times, but I've since made a simple straight edge saw guide using a couple of strips of plywood glued together. Clamp it onto your work piece and you're set. The setup is super quick and simple compared the commercial guides. I got tired of screwing and unscrewing my circular saw onto the Kreg guide. With the plywood version, you don't need to do that.

Sounds good, Yabba Dabba! Do you wanna make a video of how you put the guide together and get back in touch if you want to share it with the world?

I am thinking of buying a cutting guide and I am between this bora and the kreg, I like this bora because it has cm, but from what I have noticed in the video is that it only works with saws that bring the motor on the left side or whatever it is the same with the saw blade on the right side, since by putting a circular saw with the motor on the right side, the maximum cut would be reduced by approximately 10cm or 4 inches, maximum cut of 50cm approx. And the problem with the kreg is that I have seen many comments that say that it does not come square.
@PicRic
@PicRic 4 года назад
Hi Javier, the BORA will work with both left and right handed saws. I have the Kreg and, of course, the BORA and prefer using the BORA. It 'feels' more solid and dependable in use. Others have commented that these saw accessories are often out of square but I have not experienced that.

Probably shouldn't cut straight down the middle with no support, the board will pinch the blades and potentially kickback. Careful.

@@PicRic The speed of setup and the side fence accuracy because it is slightly longer. I have them both and i use them both but Kreg is faster and more accurate. @PicRic

What part of the video needs more explanation, Robert?
@robertbrown1128
@robertbrown1128 3 года назад
@@PicRic All of it. This would be a really great video if the guy verbally explained what he was doing and why, as he did it. That would provide much better detail about the process he is demonstrating. The camera microphone is on. You can hear the sound of what he is doing. I don't understand why he didn't offer any explanation of what he was doing during the demonstration. Have you ever attended a class of any kind where the teacher came in and demonstrated something without saying a word about what he or she was demonstrating? The rest of the video is pretty good. The camera angles and photography are really good. The absence of any narration with the visual part really diminishes the usefulness of the demonstration to viewers. That's just my opinion. Others may not think the same way.
