Very useful video but i have a doubt, what if we want to create the parity group with Encryption as in the video the encyption part is greyed out? How can we enable it to use? Is there any addition step to do while creating partiy group with encrption?
In Hitachi, everything is license based, even Dynamic Provisioning 😉. So, you would need to install Encryption license for your array & then you can enable it.
Hi Mainak, thanks for your comment. Unfortunately, I am no longer working in storage technology and do not have access to any storage. The iSCSI target creation is almost similar to FC Host Group creation in Hitachi (CHAP is not applicable in FC though), I have an old provisioning video here: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-w2Sp-cL2lGo.htmlsi=pPoYn8qhGiDKD0H6 I will check if I have something in my archive.
Part1> To make it simple, just divide the total RG (parity group) size (in TB) / 3. For example, if your RG is 16TB, so 16/3 = 5.33, as it has some remainder, you can make the count to 5+1 = 6, you need to create 6 LDEVs from that RG. Part2> Now get the total RG size in MBs (you can change the view settings), then divide the value by 6 (this will ensure very less space wastage compared to GBs or TBs), then create LDEVs in MBs that you get after dividing & the LDEV count should come 6, if it showing 5, then try to reduce the LDEV size by 1MB until you get count 6, then submit the task.
Hi Roshni, I would love to do that. However, I do not have storage access since 2020. If anyone can help me by sharing their screen, I can teach her/him & create a video out of that. Thanks
