Vergil's Moveset History Nearly all of Vergil's moves are a nod to Devil May Cry 3, and most are used in DMC3: Special Edition. Stinger, High Time, Helm Breaker and Round Trip are performed with the Force Edge. His air S, Rising Sun, and Lunar Phase are from his Beowulf moveset. His Dimension Slash hyper is a reference to one of his desperation attacks during Mission 20, where he'll disappear to spam Dimension Slash, and then reappear. (Another variation of the same attack in DMC3 involves the Dimension Slashes chasing the player. Be thankful that Capcom didn't use this version.) His Summoned Swords in DMC3 were his main projectile, in which they were used in the fashion of his Blistering Swords in UMvC3. His Spiral Swords hyper is a nod to a technique of the same name, in which he spends energy to activate. Sword Storm is basically the same as it was in DMC3. However, the playable Vergil in DMC3: Special Edition doesn't scatter the Sword Storm the way that UMvC3 Vergil and DMC3 computer Vergil does; in fact the swords all close in on the enemy at the same time, although computer Vergil has access to this variation of the move as well.

I once used Virgil's level 3 to take out all 3 of my opponent's characters at the same time when I was about to actually lose to him. Best day ever!

@Ningflingslinger what he ment by it being like shoryuken is that it launches the opponent into the air while brining you into the air at the same time, and he did say that it hit twice

I really liked the Devil May Cry credits music at the beginning, I LOVE that game.

It's actually kind of shocking how easy it is to see that Virgil's a Dante reskin. Check out the startup and end animations on the Stinger: Rather than taking the sword out of it's sheath, he pulls an invisible sword off of his back, and puts it back when he's done. Or in other words, It's Dante, and they didn't change the animation.

@BloodSportA2 You're absolutely right, but I believe for more experienced players that won't be too much of a problem. I believe he'll fit in as either an anchor or a 2nd as far as team building. He just doesn't seem the type to be a battery and just build meter.

This vid was done waaaay back even before the game came out. He made up those combos and strats on his own.

The thing that makes Dimension Slash different from maximum spider & maximum wesker/phantom dance is that it doesn't really have Vergil bouncing around on the screen really, it just looks like there's a ton of slashes/orbs on screen.

@GeeGamerz Trish is from DMC1 where Dante gave her the sword of sparda at the end of game (I honestly don't know why since he's more powerful using it) Vergil (this iteration) is from DMC3 which is a prequel to DMC1 where Vergil got the Sword of Sparda (Known as the Force Edge WITHOUT the two pendants) and fought Dante but lost to him, giving him the Force Edge. Capcom decided it would look awkward if the Force Edge was on Vergil's the whole match since he only uses it for few a moves

@edwiniseman4 I'm sure you have already been answered already, but let me clarify: After the boss fight with Arkham in chapter 19 Vergil grabs Force Edge(His father's sword). So he has two Swords for the last boss battle that fight against him.

@joejones Vergil's stinger wall bounces when hitting an airborne opponent and can be teleport and special cancelled. Dante has to bold cancel his stringer into a special move to get out of it. Dante cannot teleport to exact locations, he can only teleport to one predetermined spot. Two different moves. Vergil's teleport has more in common with Wesker then Dante, though it's still different.

@GalliaCrusader You have approximately 1 second before they have the chance to hop into defense. So use it wisely. Best way to hit the hyper combo spot on is to do the quarter turn then press R2.

@edwiniseman4 The sword on his hand is the katana, the sword he does stinger with is the sword of Sparta. They are two different swords. All of his animations are identical to the dmc3, capcom actually ,made a really good job with him.

@BloodSportA2 actually as far as mixup goes i think that vergil actually breaks even with dante. teleport cancelling really makes him a great mobile character and just on one bar he does decent enough damage and i think it builds up just the right amount of meter. as far as damage goes though, i believe vergil takes the cake. i think all it will boil down to now is who has more health between the two. either way, i'm quite excited =)

his teleports are so similar to spirals from MvC2 its great i mained her then and now I found another character to replace her. Welcome to the team vergil =D

Same guard. The blade on Tensai Zangetsu is entirely black, however, while on Vergil's sword it's just regular steel. Tensai Zangetsu is also somewhat longer than a regular Katana and would more accurately classified as a Tachi, or cavalry sword.

the tsuba (hand guard) on yamato (vergil's katana) is the same as the one on ichigo's tensa zangestsu blade from bleach

@ArthasXfrost yes you have all three weapons, but he was asking why they arent all out at once like his mugen character. he was asking why he doesnt just have force edge out at all times and i told him why, thats all.

@decko5 I don't think so. Max and everyone else puts a lot of effort into making these. It might just feel that way because he's been assigned to only do certain characters at certain times by Capcom, but the production quality is still amazing, if not better than it was. I'm just waiting for the day when Brokentier starts stocking "Assist Me" shirts.

@theultimateonejps It's true, they are good anti-airs. And btw, in DMC3, most moves using the Beowulf weapon are references of fighting game moves. Dante's Real Impact is a carbon-copy of Shin-Shoriuken. Vergil's Rising Sun is Rugal's Genocide Cutter like I said before. And the list goes on.

You have Vergil, now you need Dante. I am wondering the same thing as SailorShiraToph; are you going to use the same actor? Also, I'm curious how you are going to incorporate Dante into the Assist Me storyline. I'm sure it will be an interesting episode. Btw, you should bring Deadpool back sometime soon.

@DarkKratos09 One of the guys who makes the costumes said they couldn't get one in time so they just repainted this one. It is a Zangetsu repaint it's just not an exact replica of Zangetsu since the hilt design is supposed to be thinner. (The symbol)

I love how Max says that Vergil doesn't have very flashy combos, I guess he never saw Vergil Spiral Sword loops which are harder than ANYTHING Dante does because of the timing and placement. You can do the easy, Helm Breaker, Helm Breaker, round trip, down H, qcf.L, to spiral swords, then repeat, or the hard Spiral Swords, Lunar Phase, round trip, down H qcf L then repeat, the reason it's harder is it does more damage BUT you have to position the person perfectly or you'll whiff the lunar phase.

@billphann You have to super jump, and make sure your air combo is B, C, S. The timing is tricky at first.

@KaiserDark22 when your playing vergil and you switch out for different wepons, vergiol is only able to carry 2 wepons at a time: yamato and beowolf, forceedge and yamato. without that, it just looks like he has yamato. but he is like dante in the fact that he doesnt need his other wepon out at the time to know he has that wepon if you assined it to his secondary slot. good question and i hope this helped.

@Ryboiii Hold it for a while even after Vergil's normal attack animation. Then when his hands glow bright blue, then release it and he'll do Round Trip.
