First of all we are eastern Europeans, maybe our corrupt politicians want to be Part of western European culture, but the average Croatian hates these Westerners, Many of us especially in Bosnia have oriental influences, we are Balkan people, like other Balkan people we are a melting pot of mediteranean, oriental and european culture…, so we can say we are related to all cultures in Eurasia. I have a big respect for assyrian, aramaic, chaldean people and so on, because you survived all the islamic jihads and you are still Christians, you protected your culture and Church like my Great Grandfathers in Bosnia during the Ottoman Empire.

Andro X Syrians come from Syria. Assyrians come from Iraq. Their heartland was (or still is) near Mosul. They were one of the oldest civilisations of Mesopotamia and absolutely ruthless and brutal conquerors. Their name comes from Ashur (also spelled Assur) their chief deity in ancient times, Assyria means land of Ashur. Nothing to do with Syria. That’s a separate place.
First of all we are all human beings. Non of us had a choice to be Armenian, Assyrian, Greek, Turkish or whatever. We should spread love and not hate. Such a great wedding with beautiful people.
Legit I sometimes forget that Asyrians still exist and just think of there bronze age empires, it's so cool that they still exist in the same region and they should be proud of the great past, the cultures and people of the west are young like babies compared to the Asyrian peoples

there's a saying that in ancient times these dances were meant to celebrate/praise their gods or kings at the time, there is also a type of dance that was meant as a motivational ceremony for war. just now it evolved into just a party dance or dance to celebrate the (king and queen) of the party which is the groom and the bride.

nice culture! congratulations the couple! The only thing amazing me is how on earth they have so many people in their wedding? How does it works every one is invited regardless the blood connections? I am Albanian by the way, and I appreciate this culture!
Proud Assyrian here, but does anyone else find that our weddings are all the same? Same music, women who dress so over the top.. Come on, I'm sure we can try and be abit more original..not being negative here, just making an observation after going to many Many weddings during my lifetime and its the same copy and paste formula

That's what I used to think, but you've got to make each Assyrian function different; it's up to YOU! You can be a social butterfly in one, dance in another, get drunk at another, etc.

@@fightfannerd2078 yes they do.. Arabs are literally the closest ethnicity to Assyrians, they are both native to West Asia/Middle East. So they both have similar features: olive skin, thick hair and eyebrows, distinct big brown eyes, hairy legs, etc. Assyrians are easily the closest looking people to Arabs and that’s why people who aren’t Assyrian or Arab can’t tell the difference between them.
