Astarion begging us to help him kill Cazador

Karlach Origin max approval from Astarion. Went straight for the end game without doing Astarion's quest, ever going in the palace or defeating Cazador, so this conversation comes up. Spoilers for the ending of course.

I still can't understand how someone that considers him their friend could NOT kill Cazador and just leave him living in fear again.

Right... right... I think they have added it as an option if you just forget to get to Cazador and do other quests and then go to the fight with the Netherbrain... I am sure it happens to people to forget major quests and story lines just because there are so many smaller ones.

@@resonatinglo In my first playthrough, I nearly didn't go to Cazador's palace. I'd seen some end-game cutscenes and thought it might have been possible to continue playing the game after defeating the Netherbrain. I ended up deciding it wasn't worth the risk of missing out on that quest, so I killed Cazador first; but the storyline really doesn't make you feel like you have a lot of time for sidequests and I wasn't sure how much I could dally. I was worried that if I took too many long rests, the Netherbrain would break free and it'd be game over. I didn't go immediately to Cazador (or to any of my companions' boss fights/sidequests) because I was worried that I was underleveled, which might or might not have been true; it was my first run and I wasn't sure.

@@briarpelt2333 Yes, indeed! I suppose that's why they have added this ending. Thank you so much for this comment. It's the proof that I needed that sometimes, you can skip on something so major, just because you are focused somewhere else and the Emperor is really in a rush so he is pushing as well 😅🤷‍♀

This ending is quite sad. I like the multiplayer version though where the player romancing him promises to help him kill Cazador. At the party, he'll tell the non romanced player that he and the romanced player went kill him on their own and that the player had to tear out Cazador's tongue so that Astarion could get close enough and his death was glorious.

@@resonatinglo I also know an ending where the Gur help Astarion kill Cazador, they also rip out his tongue first

@@resonatinglo as far as I know to get such an ending you have to leave Gandrel alive, and probably cooperate with the Gur later, and not do Astarion's quest. Something like that.

I know... most of us feel that way... when I play, I can't wait to get to act 3, and open that coffin for one last time and then get the grave scene in the night...it is the first thing I do there... But I am sure there are people who have run past the palace and gone to the brain and then when they talk to him... this happens... he is scared and still afraid of Cazador... and we can not help him any more

Look, I know the hell we’re walking into on a Duo run, my Durge and Astarion, but either that son of bitch is going down or we’ll die trying! This isn’t something I EVER want to see for myself even on a Duo run!

I agree. I think it's just added there to have the option for it or if someone forgets and so Astarion reminds them that he is still afraid of Cazador, maybe

@@resonatinglo The only uncertain thing is whether I wanna complete the battle with Cazador or the battle with Orin first, probably will end up doing Cazador’s simply because my Durge puts more value on Astarion’s life than his own. Then again, if he thinks getting rid of Orin would get rid of the Urge, than he’d want to do that as soon as possible, simply because of what happened in Act 2. Huh? What to do? What to do?

@@masterduelest13 I always do Cazador first thing when I step into the Lower city in act 3 and then everything else... but that's probably from just having played the game so so much that I want some things out of the way to make space for new options :D

@@resonatinglo I’ve gotta figure out my Durge’s head space after that incident in Act 2 to figure out which would make the most sense…but will probably stick with Cazador simply because Astarion has helped him deal with the Urge before, so it shouldn’t be lethal if the Orin battle waits. I am curious about how Astarion would deal with be left on the sideline for the Orin fight, though, after everything they’ve dealt with TOGETHER.

@@masterduelest13 aww... i know... When I do the Orin fight as a Durge, I can hear my party cheering for me... Astarion cheering from the side for me to smash her face on the floor... it's beautiful

@@resonatinglo The things you have to do for the fans, Right? That's ok, you did it so we don't have to, but we can still watch it. Lol! Plus you can always make it up to him on your next playthrough. 😄

Man that is such a sad epilogue ending for Astarion...😢 That being said, I would gladly help him get rid of Cazador! Anything for you Astarion.🥲❤

Imagine how a player would feel if they forgot or skipped Cazador because they thought they can fight him after the Nether fight and then Astarion comes with this dialog... my heart will be broken ... poor pale elfy boy 🌹🍷🥺🖤

@@resonatinglo In fairness, it feels like you're supposed to be able to go to the upper city, and getting to Cazador's palace is difficult in the lower city. Add to that if someone happened to know the upper city was promised and didn't find information to contrary? it's perfectly understanable to think some quests could be wrapped up later.
