Astarion loses it when you do it without him | Rare Dialouge  

I could never kill Casado without Astarion. The scene is so sad, but what he needed after centuries of being a slave (this is referring to if you decide not to ascend him also). I just had to make sure not to uh… let Astarion confront him face to face and risk him being captured multiple times lol

Tav/Durge leaving Astarion at Camp to fight Cazador without him, when romancing Astarion, is the perfect example of being in love with someone, but not respecting them. Sure, it will keep him from ascending, that's a guarantee, but this way, he never got the chance to confront his abuser and will always wonder what he would have done, if you had left him the choice regarding the ritual. Imo, the best ending for Astarion, if he was being romanced at the beginning, is breaking things off in act 2 by saying "I think you need a friend, not a lover", helping him to kill Cazador and talking him out of completing the ritual. It's harder than convincing him as his lover, but this way, he is rejecting that power and the sacrifice of the 7000 spawn for his own sake, not for yours and he is truly content with his choice, instead of being locked into a codependent relationship with Tav/Durge and exploding, should they decide to break things off in the post-game dialogue. I love the man, and I'm still a sucker for a pretty pair of fangs, but the healthy way for him to end this story is single.

I never did that m even if not romancing him. But he’s pretty mad if you meet Raphael without him, too ^^

ugh. I just started a play through with 3 other friends. We have no room for the NPC's in our party. I am already seeing a problem. :( We just finished killing the 3 leaders in the goblin camp.

This is so... sad. Id never not take astarion with me omg. He takes it a lot better than i would in that situation. Side note: what outfit is that??? Bc omgg
