Hey, actually I wanna add basic but also useful tiny little extra info here, because I faced a problem just a while ago eventhough all configurations were done and 5038 port of asterisk server was ready to listen. If you don't press enter 2 times after writing all commands while authenticating for AMI then you cannot initiate connection and you will see message that says "Connection closed by foreign host" after a bit while. Btw thanks you guys for your beneficial explanations, these helped.

ihave thsi problem plaise help me with odoo and asterisk ami(im use grandstream pbx) .................. py-asterisk to connect odoo and Asterisk. and i get this error. py-Asterisk action failed: Originate failed

First thing to do is verify if AMI is enabled and test the connection, the command: 'netstat -pantu |grep 5038' show you if AMI is listening in default port.

Press Ctrl+]. You should see a prompt that looks like telnet>. At the telnet> prompt, type quit and press Enter.

1. Press Ctrl + ] on your keyboard. 2. Type "close". 3. Press Enter or Return to close the connection.
