That's actually a 7 stringed bass from the ESP custom shop. MIYU will also bust out a 4 or 5 stringed bass, depending on the song. Glad to see some love for his brother MIO on drums, as he gets overlooked sometimes because of the star power on bass and guitar in front. The guitarist is Haruka, known as HAL-CA. She's not related to the other two. I like to say that's because she's from another planet. : ) This song is from their new album, 'animetic'. It's a Japanese anime / metal cover album. They each chose favorite anime themes to "Asterism-ize". The first full Asterism album 'Ignition' is full of relatively traditional heavy metal tracks. Executed at the highest level. Check out early songs like 'DAWN', 'Blaze', or 'Rising Moon'. Their next two releases, 'GUERNICA' (2020) and 'GUERNICA + a' (2021) were more progressive. Although they are primarily instrumental, they've done some collaborations with Metal singers, and they're starting to do some singing of their own on some of their newer, unreleased songs.
Next songs Dawn, Rising Moon, Light In The Darkness, Blaze, Church, Gunfire, live Kyoran Hey Kids...🤘7string bass was specially made for him only by ESP...
Best instrumental band on the planet imo. Church in studio is a must. Also check out Dawn live, Blaze live, Rising Moon (written when she was 11 years old btw) and literally anything else. Top band, top musicians.
Thanks for the reaction, this band is unbelievably good. And they are still so young! What about some of their original songs for the next time, like "Church" or "Dawn".
asterism is the best 3 piece instrumental band in my opinion, guitarist hal-ca is only 19 years old, but she is already my favorite guitarist, and this song doesn't take her skills to the max. Bassist miyu is 20 years old, and the bass he plays is 7 string, it is a custom made for him by ESP, he is the most skilled bassist I have ever seen, drummer mio is 23 years old and he is miyu's brother. They formed asterism at a very young age, they were about 10-13 years old at the time. I recommend《dawn》live or《then&now》live in studio as the next reaction🤘🏻
I've known their stuff for a couple years now. They're about 20 but they've been at since they were about 14. All 3 of them are phenomenal. How phenomenal? Steve Vai and Joe Satriani are fans. In fact Joe gave her one of his guitars! Great reaction!
This is a song with a jazz feel to it, but most of their songs are straight up metal. The are an instrumental band, however, I heard they had someone sing for one of their songs, but I can't remember which one. I recommend a live performance. The guitarist is a joy to watch live.
Thanks for the good reaction. Glad you like this band. They are instrumental. Please check out their other song called "Church" (Studio Live). This is my personal taste, but i like their sound better live.
I think you would truly enjoy their song Yunagi ( battle session/ studio live) although it seldom gets mentioned in fans suggestions. I think it truly showcases these kids talents as musicians not just shredders. It's a very smart blend of multiple genres including blues, jazz, funk. I think Stevie Ray Vaughn would have truly loved it.
You only see 5% of ASTERISM, they have many great songs, especially from their two previous albums, this song is taken from a 'special' album which contains rock/metal version covers of popular animation theme songs.
Not the biggest fan of their Anime song adaptations(as great a job as they do in making the songs theirs), but compared to everything from Guernica it's just not my music. However, everything they do is awesome, and i can appreciate their skill, but still Dawn, Gunfire or Church is where it's at for me. And since I found them via Yunagi that song also holds a special place for me.
