Clenching fists when breathing in helps as well for asthma. See mudras in Wikipedia. and "Lung-specific yoga mudras on respiratory function in asthma patients" Saravanan P S L
based upon hygiene theory we still believe that diseases which are immune mediated like asthma is more common in developed world when compared to developing world where people are dying more of infectious diseases..
To my knowledge, this video is inaccurate. Asthma and eczema are both type I hypersensitivity reactions, meaning that there is an initial sensitization event that eventually leads to formation of memory B cells that react to allergens via an IgE antibody response, as well as implantation of these IgE antibodies on FcERI receptors on the membranes of mast cells. Therefore, on the next exposure to these allergens, the allergens will bind to membrane-bound IgE antibodies on mast cells, cross-linking them, which leads to mast cell degranulation. This video implies that IgE antibodies are found free in the serum/interstitium, allowing them to bind allergens as dimers, and then implant onto mast cell membranes. This does not agree with any other sources that I've used, could you please share your source? Thank you
I think this is just a good basic explanation of asthma. It doesn't go into detail about early phase vs late stage asthma either. My patho teacher wouldn't be happy with this explanation, but I think it serves its purpose for a general explanation
Hi i might be late but for what I have understood is when igE binds to the receptor in mast cell the primary mediator released is Histamine which futher shows various physiological effect in the body among which it acts as chemoattractant for eosinophils and activates eosinophils. Now leukotrienes formed as a result of AA pathway constitute the slow-reacting substance of anaphylaxis and is secondary mediator. These two releases on step wise manner. However as the asthma exacerbation progresses leukotrienes are 100-1000x more potent in causing bronchospasm as compared to histamine which initially had potent action in constriction and mucous release.
Goblet cells secreting mucous AND increased capillary permeability causing build up of mucous? I cannot find academic info on this. All sources say that the mucous comes from the goblet cells, but my patho book states that it can also be from a change to capillary permeability. If someone can clarify this so I can get on with my life that would be great.
One could theorize that with regards to their ancestries compared to the white ancestries, they didn't really deal with a lot of this. People who have European ancestries are usually immune to diseases that a person with African or American ancestries are not immune to. How this applies to asthma is that the conditions to trigger asthma don't really exist in African countries compared to the rest of the world.
It could also be caused by a geographical differences, in America you have higher populations of blacks in areas with more pollution. Why they are in these areas is one of many other things that could contribute to the increase in asthma .
The mast cells release histamine, and histamine circulates to the lungs causing inflammation of the lumen ( inside portion of the vessel) to become inflamed and swollen. That is why asthmatic who have it more severe will have puffers with antihistamine affects in them.
+omar mourad I suffer from asthma and anti-histamines do have an impact. I assume this is the difference between atopic and non-atopic asthma? Surely it's associated with the greater release of immunoglobulin-E?
+Joshua Macleod haha well I'm a medical student in my basic sciences year and according to basic pathology books, histamines don't have much of a role lol.. i do know clinical medicine is much different, so thanks for the info :-)
You stick with those basic science books. The rest of us will continue to listen to the actual LICENSED doctor, pulmonologist, and respiratory therapists.
To cure asthma with acupressure: 1) Press lip with a finger and note how inhaling through your nose is facilitated 2) Make a habit of breathing in with lip pressure to stop asthma. A Google search for asthma pressure points shows points on lips. . Asthma causes airway remodeling but this is cured in time by correct breathing. That is my experience.
Sorry Sir but Lip Pressures arent gonna cure asthma. Asthma is a chronic inflammation in the lungs due to the excessive reaction of T helper 2 cell. So a pressure on the lip wont do anything and more even curing asthma for it is less likely reversible especially over the years it would be permanently irreversible. Research on reliable sources before sharing to avoid misinformation. Take care Sir
hardik patel loved this video, especially your ideas for asthma treatment steroids . Another resource I also found for asthma treatment was Grathaw Asthma Treatment Expert - find it on google if you want
