A lot of us can relate to this conversation. I’m in my 30s, and looking back I realize how much pressure we put on ourselves in our 20s. The one thing I’ve learned for myself, is to stop always wanting the next thing, that I forget to just enjoy the now. This chat of seeing your peers ahead of you doesn’t end, & the worst thing is even if you take the same choices as someone else, it doesn’t mean you’d be in the same place as them because we all have our journeys. Basically what I’m trying to say is, give yourself a little bit of grace and acknowledge how far you are even though you’re not where you’d ideally like to be. ❤️

Thank you for being vulnerable with us ❤. As a someone in her late 30s, I can assure that things that are meant to be do fall into place and that the obstacles are just there to remind us to be mindful and appreciative of what we have 🙏🏾😊

Where do I Press to Like this 100times over? Foyin!!! ♥️♥️♥️ I lack the words to articulate how reassuring this is. I thought something was wrong with me. Because wow!!! Everyday I try to snap out of this whirlwind.

Yoh, Foyin on this Sunday! I turned 33 in March and I finally agreed to host a party for the first time in my adult life. I genuinely felt like there was nothing to celebrate. And then I actually sat down and asked myself, "well, how did I get here? How am I doing my MA, driving a nice car and living in a nice apartment, working for myself, etc etc... How did I get here?" The answer was very basic and humbling - somehow, God and my ancestors were by my side through all the awkward, uncomfortable phases. The envy and feeling like you are far from where you should be? You finally realise that it never ends. Someone (far and near) is always better, richer, skinnier, smarter, luckier than you and they won't stop sharing their luck/achievement/milestones. Your 20s are just a remix of yours teens, but now you have a bit more money to try your best, fail/succeed, rinse and repeat. Nothing makes sense until it makes sense, then you realise it never ends so you just keep pushing ♥

I'm cleaning and getting ready to be productive while I catch up to this.

This is literally been me for the past few years, like all these feelings and changes and burnout and wanting a baby but knowing it's not coming from the right place, everything is a lot and just getting kuningier. But also how slow it is to come out of a few parts I feel like academically I'm not where I want to be but can't focus long enough to get there.

Thank you for the vulnerability and honesty. Everything you said resonated with me. It’s scary being in the late 20s and not really knowing where life is going. I’ve learnt to just do my best and trust that it’ll work out eventually. Hope you achieve everything your heart desires

Hey! I love your channel and admire your ability to be vulnerable on a public platform. I've followed your content for years! As a fellow mid-to-late 20 something year-old, I can relate to a lot of what you've said. Particularly the part about expectations. Being young and academically gifted; feeling like anything can happen and then not being where you envisioned. It's difficult for many different reasons. I would just like to encourage you. We weren't promised an easy life as Christians; but we can hold onto the hope that God is present and knows what we need. I think it's important to keep a clear head as you lick your wounds. The devil wants us to believe that we are alone in our suffering and that God isn't present or strong enough to help us. That is a lie peddled to turn us away from God and towards momentary highs and the occult. Those things present an easy fix that is also not real or glorifying to God. Don't let the challenges of life cause you to doubt God's power. You aren't wise or strong enough to ruin God's plans for you. So really, where you are is where you were always meant to be. And... anything can happen in a year. Keep trying, keep praying. My last point - I think we should stay clear of comparison. We don't know the intricacies of other people's seemingly perfect lives. We understand what makes our lives hard because it is the only life we live. However, we don't know how hard someone else's life is because we haven't lived it. Some married people wish they could get divorced. Some people with children might've wished for something entirely different. Others might have the career you dream of but wish they could leave it due to stress or exploitation. Not all that glitters is gold. People might see you in your singleness and career and wish they had what you had. Your experiences, your intelligence and beauty. We must enjoy our lives for what they currently are. What I've found to be true is that the good things you yearn for happen when you least expect. I hope you will keep going and that God would assure you of His constant love and presence.

OMG Foyin, as your 45 year old subscriber I’m obsessed with this podcast. You’ve captured /explained this precipice we find ourselves - stress and pressures from the world about what/ where we should be vs our actual ability / capabilities based on who we really are - do we consider the role of luck? Yho it’s a lot! Thanks for the brain food. You just found something that’s going to take you out of the funk…I believe!

19:04 Literally had (yet another) deep chat with my best friend about how God hears our prayers and the unspoken prayers for things we are too scared to pray for outloud and when he has made us ready, will give them to us. Pray to be prepared for what you pray for, that is so important. Cause some us pray for peace and say we are bored when there is no chaos about.

I’m so happy you finally did this for yourself, and so thankful that we get to be on this journey with you! As a fellow woman of manic fixations, procrastination disguised as perfectionism, serial burnout and a former ‘gifted child’, I’m so in love with how you’ve been able to articulate what so many of us are going through. Life feels more and more like a marathon with no clear finish line, which has been difficult to adjust to when life used to feel like a series of sprints each with a clear track and end goal. Thank you for reminding us of the importance of moving with hope, faith and accountability despite the uncertainty. Rooting for you as always 🤍

i loved this so much! this came at the right time, as i took a 3 month 9-5 sabbatical to plan and kickstart my creative career (creating video essays). i am currently almost done with writing the script and i have started overthinking everything. listening to you reminded me that i need to go for it and it's not the time to overthink! you're so smart and funny foyin, i'll definitely be looking out for more episodes ❤❤
