Aston Martin AM37, 1040hp powerboat review 

Beautiful, powerful, stunning interior... but looks like it would handle like a boat.

The ocean appears to shaken but not stirred.

It will be in the next james bond movie I assure it.

Beautiful "unobtanium" boat. Enjoyed the views of Monaco. Took me back 50 years. My ship spent 2 weeks over Christmas '69 & New Years anchored just down the coast at Villefranche-sur-mer. A buddy & I took a day liberty & went to Monaco. Walked the course of the Grand Prix & spent a few hours at the Oceanographic Museum. It's the 4 story tall by very wide white building at the top of the cliff above Harry right after he left the speed limited harbor. We were in our dress blues and in the museum a weathered "old" man came over, introduced himself, & chatted with us for a while. It was Jacques Cousteau. Besides his well known ocean exploration films he was also a retired French naval officer & Curator of the Monaco Oceanographic Museum. I enjoy Harry's videos & this one was very special.

How are 2 bigger engines worth an extra £300k over the mid range model? Those Mercury Racing 540's cost $52k each, the diesel motors start at $45k so the actual price difference should be a fraction of what it is. I assume the people wealthy enough to buy this kind of boat aren't bothered about a few hundred grand here and there :/

This will give new meaning to the BOAT (Bring Out Another Thousand) acronym. Kind of makes sense for a company that's manufactures unreliable cars to branch out into other unreliable forms of transportation. Won't be seeing them do a plane anytime soon I bet.

This is not good enough. This is a brand on a boat,aston needs to step up in terms of innovation to take the F1 technology into boats. This is not there to represent aston martin. Lexus,alfa,mercades all have an innovate design concept for a small sized speed boat. The design should offer. Two redbull F1 engines. A larger passenger cabin. A dropped sliding transome solar cells for future electric charging of batteries. A much more innovative hull design which pushes the design limits. Reconfiguring the cockpit sliding roof for rough weather. Innovative road trailer designs. Electronic instruments would be almost impossible to see in the bright sunshine of the middle east.

Mercury V8's ?? why isn't this thing Aston Martin powered?

I like it, but I wish it had that Aston Martin Grill shape up front. I just need that iconography somewhere for it to really click.

That is one beautiful machine. I love how you can close it up so rascals don't go ravaging through your boat. Very beautiful machine, like every Aston product. Ford has really breathed some new air into Aston. Very cool.

An Aston powered by OHV Chevy's - what has this world come to......

A boat "made" by Aston Martin?...no, not really...it's powered by common Mercruiser engines. the boat-builder probably got a few "designs" from Aston Martin, an agreement was written up so AM could put their name on it...perfect solution for a starving boat-builder.

Waste of money. Not even a roof on it. Holds too few people. Way overweight for its size. Which is why it's slow for a powerboat. But gas consumption would be too large.

Sorry Harry, as a boat lover the AM37 looks swish but nothing mindblowing, however I'm confused as to the 1.4 mil GBP price tag. Prototypes usually cost millions and nowhere near the final production costs. Stripping away the AM logos and some trendy design features this boat should be in the 250,000 GBP price bracket. Despite the sexy windscreen you still stick your head above it. Here in Oz 1.4 mil GBP (AS$2.4 mil) would buy a brand new luxurious Maritimo M68 cruising motoryacht or or the fantastic (USA) Marine Technology Inc M48 powered by twin Mercrury Racing 1350hp engines (150+mph). My own humble Bayliner 185 220hp can also top out at 50mph and is probably worth less than the steering wheel on the AM37!! I would have appreciated a much more balanced overview instead of the gushing superlatives in every sentence! Having never seen your vids I will view them out of respect.

Hulls are so exclusive to useage,......I find it hard to settle on anything,...maybe a retired soviet sub now thatd be awesome to remodel....

That is a stupifyingly beautiful power boat. The coolest touches are the complete convertible cover, the bespoke dashboard, that awesome little galley, and of course the incredible power and smoothness. Also, beautiful scenery

Growing up around boats my favorite memory is idling into docks or Marinas, I miss that low idle sound more than the high speeds. Didn't get around high horsepower boats until later and same thing, of course they are awesome at speed but I still love that low rpm, high horsepower rumble around the docks!

1040 hp and only 50 knots? That preference sucks my boat have a 240 hp 5L V8 and we will do 43knots. Aston it's not all about hp.

Does not even handle very well, what a waste of money! with that sort of money, you could buy a house, a car, a motorbike, all the toys you want and still have enough left to buy a better, faster boat!!! Anyone who gets sucked in to buying one of these, must be an idiot!! Ha ha ha We build better boats than that in New Zealand for a fraction of that price

Over a million quid and they can't even align the cupboard doors in the heads properly. What's the fuel consumption? Half a ton an hour probably, funny how no one ever mentions that shocking fact. I could drive my car for about three years for the same amount of fuel this thing uses every hour! Good there's only one. They'll have to do something about the build quality and detailing if they actually want to sell any. Go back to cars Harry, please don't encourage the use of these ridiculous craft. Thanks.

The hull of the boat and the design of it looks really close to the old late 80s liberators, the deep v style made the liberators a fantastic deep water boat and extremely well handling its to bad they change their design in the 90s and then discontinued them totally,,nice boat though

Good Evening Harry,i knew right from the start you knew nothing about BOATS,now you said that boat costs 1.5 million Pounds,well thats close too 3.0 million for me here in the U.S.A.,if i owned that boat i most definetly would remove those engines,and go with Mercury 1350's on ASD # 10 Drives,or maybe just a Single MTU Diesel 2000HP same ASD Drive tho, my personal opinion is that ASTON MARTIN should stick with what they know how too do very well,BUILDING CARS and stay away from Boats Harry?.

Nice boat, looks a bit heavy and hence not the fastest on the water? But the price is way out for what it is, £1.5 million? The engines are bog standard Merc V8's, so the money must have all gone on the fancy electronics? For a comparison, look at a 38' Scarab, much more room inside and with a pair of 500 EFI's in it it will do over 65mph. You can pick one of these www.yachtworld.com/boats/1996/wellcraft-scarab-38-3232976/ up for £50k ish and you will have plenty left to buy a few Aston Martin stickers 😎

I'd much rather have a Hinckley.. they are around the same price... HOWEVER HINCKLEY'S ARE A MUCH BETTER BOAT.

1000 hp is about 100 gallons a hour at full throttle. Also, gas at the water is more than gas station. So figure on $ 3.25/gallon for 87. Or $4/gal for 93, that's $500 per hour. I'd take a allison xs2003 grandsport, look better, go faster and burn 1/3 the fuel.

Hmmm - I'm not sure what this boat has got to do with AM - it would appear a Dutch design with American engines.....the builder seems to be Dutch too (given their address) ....why not keep more of the UK heritage and at least use an AM engine - and build it in the UK? We build some great powerboats here - Sunseeker, Princess, Fairline, Hunton which ignores the various high class custom builders....- surely AM can exploit some of those homegrown skills if not the design?
