I don’t think he’s that type of guy he’s a grafter and looks like the boss is getting players that are committed to the war and all are players are work houses and will put a shift in………sterling would fit in nicely I think
The only thing about sterling that I wouldn't want at Villa is how big his mouth can be. We've seen multiple times where he openly critiques a manager's choices in games, and he could damage the happy camp that we have right now with that kind of character. But if Emery wants him then who am I to say no. UTV
No! no! no! we've just managed to dodge a bullet with Feilx, Sterling is worse, olderand even more expensive. Also needs about 10 shots to hit the target once Avoid at all costs
We want solid characters as well as talent .. Dean picked solid characters the guys who make the backbone of our team.. No prima donners .. It’s a team !!
We missed the best targets (Biere and Gruda) chasing Felix. A player that would always choose the likes of Chelsea over us and a player who has been allowed to move for a fee they would not take from us because Gallagher moved to them for a fee lower than Chelsea would accept from another PL club.
Now that Carlos is staying, Gerrtruida links seem to have gone quiet. I can't help but feel We should have taken the ~£25m fee for Cash earlier in the window rather than holding out for £30m. Especially if Gerrtruida (as would be expected) was already a target at that point.
Sterling would definately add to the depth for Europe. He scored 8 goals for Chelsea with limited playing time. More goals than Mudryk and Enzo combined. He has been more productive than that a lot of Chelsea's expensive players but I guess Chelsea is banking on youth and potential. Raheem gets too much hate, the British press has fashioned Brits to dislike and discredit him but he is a world class player.
Mmmmm Not for me. If it was last year then I would have liked this idea but now our squad is much improved it doesn’t feel like this is progress for me. There has to be better and cheaper out there Luke.
@the0nlytrueprophet942 I agree but he's 30 this year too, I'd like younger, he doesn't seem to fit the profile when we've done so much recruitment for the future.
A loan gets us out of a pickle, but We'd have to accept that if it went well, He'd probably end up somewhere that would pay a big salary after. He may well take a cut for a permanent move now but would it be a big enough cut? And if it didn't go well it's an expensive gamble. He'd be worth nothing next summer at 31 having been bad for Villa. Apparently not being good for "big 6" sides doesn't do much to values.
I think Felix will be good enough at Chelsea to warrant the £40m they'll pay, but not much more. Unfortunately it's a fee they wouldn't take from us. Though Emery could probably have made him look a £60m player He isn't worth that now. It's a shame We spent so long chasing him that We missed out on players We could develop to those levels namely Biere and Gruda. Imo Gruda already improves Brighton and they didn't need much improvement to be a threat. Top 10 squads in PL this season are insane. We have more to overcome now than We did last season.
Unless Sterling can play CB, I don't know why we would entertain this. Rightly or wrongly he was in the press 10 minutes after the match day squad was announced.
He hasn’t won a champions league trophy yet, he left right before city won, I’m a Jamaican fan that wouldn’t mind this move to villa, but also wouldn’t want him to reduce Bailey’s playing time 😅😅 I’d hope he joins though and we win the champions league this season. UTV😊
Tbh I wouldn’t rate Chelsea on their judgement on who they choose to play. If he’s prepared to be a backup like Barkley I think he’d be good choice and he has Champions league experience.
Its a good signing. Hes got experience and just needs abit of a shake up in his career. Hes a also a good voice figure for anti racism which i respect. I didnt like his attribute of diving when he was at city but i think hes got talent
I am worried about the costs involved for what we are getting. We've done a lot of good business in last couple of years I don't want us losing our heads because the deadline and CL is closing in. I'm not sure this version of Sterling is the answer. UTV
I know everyone hating on Raheem, but Unai will make him a beast, just trust guys. I didn’t like the idea of Sterling before but I just thought about it
Absolutely no way. I’ve never liked him even back from 2012 olympics. Yes he has shown to be a quality striker but I’ve never known anyone like him to be so selfish and just never pass.
I think you're forgetting Buendia in this podcast who can also play across the frontline. I also feel Sterling wouldn't be a bad signing if he's playing in the number 10, as if we get the Liverpool version then he was fantastic, however since then he has not been that consistent really. As usual my overall view is if Emery thinks he's good enough then I completely trust Unai 👌UTV!
I’ve been telling you all summer we wouldn’t be signing Joao Felix as he just didn’t seem to want to come to us, I’d definitely be on board with Sterling maybe a loan option to buy, interesting one this is for me especially as he’s best mates with Leon Bailey & he’s close to Bailey’s father maybe he’ll get in his ear to get the two together, will it happen probably not but I hope it does personally, & hopefully we can get Geertruida in at right back as well.
Sterling, Watkins, Bailey and Emery = fire! This whole thing about sterling being a prema-donna is bull! He carried England the last thew tournaments, achieved greatness with City, leaving on good terms. Arguably, he's been chelsea best performer.
We was gassed with diaby first half of the last season and tbf he’ll do a better job and more he’ll be hungry to make a impact in the champions league as he will believe he’s one of the best in the world
He can be solid on his day, but will he move and expect to start? Will he assume hes in the starting 11 each game, He'd need to learn to be in a rotating squad, because Bailey will definitely be the starting winger for most games unless its a rotation/he needs a rest, but having a player like Sterling come off the bench, that will really help us, again its just his attitude i'm worried about
I was going to ask randomly what people thought about us going for Sterling when his situation arose. I wouldn't mind a loan Whilst Im on that situation but no link vibe, what about Kyle Walker being l8nked away from Citeh?
Not for me. too many players in a squad causes more problems than it solves. We have players coming back from injury in defence, midfield and a number 10.
Get Stirling on loan and pay 40% of his wages. His experience and goals in big games could really help. And just imagine what hed get out of Bailey, Bailey calls him his brother and mentor. Surely thats only a good thing
Give JBP his chance to develop his credentials as a solid back up/substitute to keep baileys legs fresh instead. Save our money for another younger player.
No not needed for me Central defense/right back is the area that needs addressing we have buendia, rogers ,jaden Bailey, Ramsey and even barkley in those no 10/wingers area's UTV
It was the dean Smith era where talk of attitude and ego being crucial for the right players to join our squad. This has carried forward, i actually think it's the lack, or perceived lack, of player issues in this area that has made duran recent antics stand out so much,. Sterling carries ego and attitude for me, so no thank you, go and play for red mancs or blue pool and see how you get on.
Listen Felix or Sterling stats only. His pace would replace Diaby he can play left and right and his played for City a winner. However Felix has done nothing at all it’s strange. Sterling on loan is great!
Hes a v good player. Get him on loan for season. Would be great addition to help our cause. Can play prem and champs league. Can be Good mates with Leon Bailey as well. Both 🇯🇲.
As soon as I saw his statement, timed with Felix to Chelsea, I wondered if this might be possible. Let's be honest, at this moment in time it is an upgrade for him, apart from wages. Also he would at least make the bench, and he can't do that where he is. I would take him over Felix, that is for sure.
Decent he only looked bad in Chelsea where the whole team has bar cole palmer tbh lool but yea he’s got experience played under some of the best coaches so he knows how to adapt and he can get goals and assists I called this a few days ago to my pal I had sancho or sterling in my head and I think he would suit us he same type of player of diaby but he has got way more experienced and is premier league proven
He loves football, he left City for game time. The way people are talking about him is quite disgraceful actually. He can play Left, Right and even down the middle. I'd say loan with an option to buy if we want him. Get sterling incase we have bad injuries and for experience too, the guy has almost won it all at club level. Another English player in the fold wouldn't disrupt the atmosphere. If fans are really honest about depth then sterling would be amazing for it.
Please no, I would rather keep the current squad than add him to it. When you offer to take a pay cut from £300k I would imagine he would still want £200k and think he is doing us a favour. Move on Villa from this one🤞🤞
I have never liked sterling and have often slaged him off when he was playing for england. He does put up good numbers tho, if he is willing to take a huge pay cut as I think he is on like 300 grand a week and emery thinks he can make use of him, then who am I to argue?
I wouldn’t go for sterling wages too high even with a wage cut and would have no sell on value if I was villa I would be looking at bakayoko from psv proper player
