Juan Sebastian Delgado, cello.
Redi Llupa, piano.
These two young musicians met in Italy after winning a full scholarship for studying at the prestigious United World College of the Adriatic. Furthermore, they studied chamber music with the legendary Trio di Trieste, Trio di Parma and the Australian pianist Maureen Jones. Through music, they found a particular sense of communication which became the key element for investing in a long-term music group. During those two intense years, they had successful performances in several halls in Italy, Slovenia, Croatia and Austria. In their performance training, Duo Llupa-Delgado has worked with renowned musicians such as Alberto Miodini, Enrico Bronzi, Ivan Ravaglia, Bonnie Hampton, Max Levinson and Wendy Warner among others. In 2007, after receiving the International Baccalaureate Diploma, they were awarded with a Conservatory scholarship; the Davis UWC scholarship and the Presidential Award to do the Bachelor of Music Performance at The Boston Conservatory in the United States were they worked for four years with pianist Max Levinson and cellist Rhonda Rider. In November of 2007, they were invited by the Trio di Trieste to perform for the 25th anniversary of the school at the Auditorium Parco della Musica in Rome. They have won the Dino Caravita Chamber music Competition in Ravenna (Italy, 2008) and the Honors Chamber music Competition in Boston (US, 2009) and the Kathryn Davis Project for Peace (US, 2011). In June of 2011, they did a tour in Japan, performing in cities of Kyoto, Fukuoka and Kumamoto in a series of sold-out concerts as members of the Boston Tango Trio. In July of 2011, as winners of the Davis Project for Peace, they taught, performed and conducted in the cities of Mossoro and Natal, northeast Brazil, were they worked with children of the favelas. Their performances have been broadcasted in radio and TV channels in US, Brazil, Croatia, Italy, Albania and Argentina. Both of them just graduated with honors from of The Boston Conservatory and at the moment they are pursuing a master of music degree at Indiana University (Menahem Pressler) and at McGill University (Matt Haimovitz). Juan Sebastián plays on a contemporary cello given especially to him, as a winner of the instrument scholaship of the Virtu Foundation.
