I went looking for a video on this particular firearm because I carried mine in a law enforcement capacity from the day I got it, back in the late 80's if my memory serves me, it was a wonderful gun to say the least! I always qualified at the top of the list with the gun, and when competing with the Glocks, Smiths and such, I think it did the Astra name proud. I still have mine with two spare magazines, and the full web type belt gear that I carried her on. My other pistol is a Citadel M1911A1 in the officers configuration, short barrel and magazine, I use that when concealment is a must. Now that I am retired, and travel extensively in our Class A Motor Home, I prefer the Astra as a traveling companion due to it's better safety configuration, makes the wife feel better not seeing the cocked and locked of the A1. I have nothing but praise for the Astra, as far as Spanish pistols, I have had many Stars, including the BM BKM and Star PD, all served well, but the Astra, now that feels like the Cadillac of the breed. In the past I have carried the old Model 19 Smiths when I began policing in the early 1970's, then progressed to a M1911A1 full size in many forms including an AMT Hardballer at one point. I have always had a love for the old army warhorse but the Astra changed me forever I think..
I bought the same pistol from the MCX in 1997 love it, never had a problem with it, just one magazine. Fires well, never jammed, kept it oiled and clean.
Astra an Star all have been outstanding pistols I think I payed $199 to $299 A80 A100x2 and Star Firestar Plus 9mm an the Star 45 and UltraStar all still run great in 2022
Let me tell you something hermano that beautiful pistola will still be shooting and looking good in 100 years I'm not so sure the same can be said for a light polymer apparatus
I have an A-100 in 9mm that I bought in the mid 80's. I put a lot of rounds through it and never once had a jam or malfunction or problem of any kind. I still keep it in my nightstand for home defense. Nothing fancy but it's a great gun. And if I can't take out an intruder with 17 rounds I can throw the thing at him and knock him out.
Thank you for your video, I found it interesting. It's an interesting and rarely encountered pistol. I have one in excellent shape from a friend who found it in his folks estate sale and I love it. Feels good in my hand and this one is in 38 Super which makes it all the more unusual and interesting. A great addition to my collection and in that caliber all the more valuable.
Back in the mid '90s I bought an Astra 9mm A100 from a local dealer. I immediately fell in love with the feel of the grip on this one. I knew the name Astra being a Spanish arms manufacturer from years back. I could NOT seem to shoot straight with this firearm, BUT that being said, I was a newbie handgun owner, and I can easily blame myself for not being able to hit accurately with it. Also, I was shooting Winchester white box ammo (cheapest that I could find), so there's that.I did love the incredibly easy field stripping on this pistol. The sight picture wasn't spectacular. I'm one that loves decocking mechanisms on a DA pistol, so I loved that AND another safety feature is the hefty trigger pull in DA mode. I kinda wish I had that pistol back to be honest. I would love to shoot a Sig that it's modeled after. Like you, I also favour .45 ACP now. Thanks for this video, very much enjoyed.
Hi, i’m a SIG P-220 west Germany owner , and now i’ve got the possibility to own one of this marbelous handgun for FREE!! I don’t know what to do .... , because having the original model (more or less , P-226 is the original one) is a nonsense get the ASTRA .Then , i have a STAR Super S 380 ACP family heritadge from my grandfather and i just have to praised STAR and ASTRA models .
While I was looking for a Firestar 45, I bought one of these instead. What holsters will fit this piece? Looking for a shoulder holster but not everyone offers a holster for an Astra A100.
