Dan Heng, Blade, and Jing yuan are all my favorite characters but the past they share with each other is so sad. I haven’t gotten to the quest yet but I watch and see lore and spoilers. 😭

I agree with everything you say! (I love Caelus too and while I love stelle, she is everywhere! also yes. showing more about Trailblazer and there mysterious past too!) I feel it hits right in the feels so much because Dan Heng isn't Dan Feng, no matter how much they want him to be; he can't ever be the same as he was. Even if he looks like him or has a few scattered memories of that time, it will always feel to Dan Heng as if he is viewing someone else's memories or seeing echoes of a past that isn't his. But as Jing Yuan said in the story, 'it is hard to erase the image of the past,' or, well, something that basically means it is hard to see Dan Heng as his own person, and I imagine it is even harder due to the fact they were such close friends. Imagine seeing someone identical to a loved one who is gone walking around, who may even act similarly but with just enough differences to make it hurt as that isn't them. I am happy they showed how it hurts Jing Yuan to see Dan Heng in the videos. I feel people tend to focus on the angst with Blade and Dan Heng, even though Jing Yuan has lost a dear friend here as well. It is just that he is trying to actually see Dan Heng as Dan Heng and not Dan Feng and is even willing to remove the banishment as he isn't Dan Feng anymore just after this last request to an old friend. Blade is difficult, as the text seems to imply he and Dan Feng were the closest in the group, or, well, closest to each other. no matter if you ship them or view them as platonic or familial. They were close. I prefer to use Renfeng, as I don't ship Blade with the current Dan Heng. Imagine being with someone who only sees you as your past life. You would always end up comparing yourself to someone you can no longer be. It is too sad to ship in the present, IMO. So I tend to see them and joke about them as exes who had a messy breakup, as one of them technically is gone, just with his species making it where he is reborn with no memories, effectively making him a new person. It is also implied that Dan Feng may have had something to do with Blade's immorality, and that is why he was forced to molt sooner than normal, effectively an execution sentence for a Vidyahara. Imagine gaining immortality but not being rid of the Mara that plagues you. that the person you were closest to went against your wishes due to them not wanting to lose you, but instead you had to lose them. The situation has flipped, and now Dan Feng is gone. He has a new name and no memories of you, and if he has any left over, he doesn't view them as his. You hate him, you hate the choice he made, and not being able to ever face the actual person responsible, you never get any answers... Blade says a new face or new name will not hide him from his past sins. Blade is upset. He lost everything. He lost Dan Feng; he lost his own choices and free will to Dan Feng, as it is obvious he didn't agree to be made immortal. He didn't want it. It was a forced, one-sided thing. Dan Feng did one of the most selfish things he could do out of love and care, as even if they were just super close friends, he still loved Blade. He didn't want to lose him, so he made it where he never would. Now Blade has to deal with that fallout without Dan Feng. He is taking out his aggression, anger, and probably sadness on Dan Heng, who didn't ask to have all the crimes, flaws, and sins of his past self dumped on his lap, and he shouldn't have to be responsible for fixing them. Dan Heng isn't Dan Feng... I feel like people comparing them hurts. It is why when he meets the astral crew again, he insists, 'It is still me,' as the astral crew is like a family, and I think he was worried they would be like everyone else and compare him to a man who is gone and is not coming back. He didn't want to lose the place he found to call home on his own-his own little corner where he didn't have to be anyone else but Dan Heng. To him, the Luofu is a place that holds a lot of feelings, maybe not memories, but it must suck to always be in the shadow of this person, who you may scream isn't you, but it doesn't change the mind of anyone who knew them. One of them is even hunting you down due to what they did. We know that when they are reborn, they are reborn as children. imagine tiny Dan Heng was born, and his first years of life were nothing but misery due to actions that, in his culture, weren't his. They are his past self's actions. Yet he has to bear it, and now this grown man wants to end your current life and won't listen to a word you say? forcing you to run, won't let you have peace even in exile, forcing you to keep moving, hiding, and fearing for those around you. Blade must have made life so terrible for the newly hatched Dan Heng..

That is a lot of new information for me. Thank you for telling me all this, but I really wasn't aware of most of these, since I'm not that deep into the story/lore of Honkai Star Rail and didn't really interact with many things in the new region. I'm the type of person that needs to hear a small part of something before I can get invested into it and actually look stuff up in game. But I'm always happy that people like you exist, that dump such a huge load of lore onto me which will change my perspective again entirely haha And I'm happy that even though I made some small mistakes, you still enjoyed my video. @@vollmond5133 aha, No problem, I really love info dumping about Xianzhou Luofu/Vidyadhara lore a lot so im always happy to share what ik, and I feel you on not always being into the most of the lore- ive just been heavily looking into it as of late because i really like Dan Hengs character xD. The story you were aware of- as in DH being DF reborn was the one majority of the playerbase believed in until 1.2 as it was fed to us as what Dan Heng knew- therefore it must be correct, but as we know now hes a rather unreliable narrator due to the fact of his Amnesia. But yeah! Regardless of all the newer lore reveals, I really did enjoy this, keep up the good work :D

I'm a lot less sure of the facts I mentioned 5 months ago as a result of Jinglius story quest and more HCQ stuff being released that wound up undermining and contradicting a lot of the information we had in 1.0, 1.1, and 1.2, but if it is indeed that Dan Feng went through molting rebirth as far as the info in game tells us then yes Dan Heng is Dan Feng just possibly reverted to the beginning of his life. Again, a lot less sure on this now but idk if they'll ever clarify or fix the HCQ lore.@@zioyuu__

You won't have to do a lot from the quest to watch this, since this was from 5 months ago, and we had less content. Just watch it after something.. well.. happens with Dan Heng (I don't want to spoiler), then you'll be good to go
