When I first saw previews of this, I thought it may be a sequel to megacollab "Postbluane" due to the awesome art and fantasy theme. It also features some of the same creators. After playing just the first two seconds, this is confirmed by the signs in the background. I think it's cool to see creators make sequels to their levels, especially when it's for one so good; "Postbluane" is undoubtedly one of the nicest art megacollabs I've seen in a while. It's also a sequel to "Twenty Four", another amazing art megacollab. However, I'm happy to say that I think "Astralith" takes the quality to another level. The theming remains as focused, but the quality of the art seen in the background and foreground is even higher. There's even more detail when appropriate, while the art style itself remains smooth and pleasing throughout. I also really like the variety of landscapes and colors used for depiction. While parts are varied within, the level as a whole also has an "overarching narrative" thanks to the overall progression of the level towards a really cool climax, especially thanks to the cutscenes. I think this helps the level be a bit more memorable aside from just having really good art.
Gameplay tends to be an issue in these art-heavy levels, at least for me personally. It can sometimes be difficult to tell what is a solid object and what is not. For this level, though, I think the team handled that nicely overall. The difference in color brightness and shading from layer to layer helps a lot, and these choices make sense with a stacked roster of artists like this. There's also some clever usage of 2.2 tools like motion blur and camera controls, making the upcoming gameplay clearer too. I will say that a couple parts around the middle do have some tricky orb timings and transitions at first, but that is relatively easy to get down with a practice run. The level's length is also worth considering. All in all, I think this will be an Easy Demon.
