This is without a doubt one of the best written relationships on television. They said it themselves, their relationship was built on friendship and trust, but they still made room for the little things and always came back to each other no matter what. They are true soulmates and they took their time to find their way to each other
She becomes incredibly more humble later in the franchise. This proves that humility is NOT weakness. IMHO, her character was twice if not three times stronger from this personality change.

Astrid and Hiccup being parents, well...is interesting. Either it could end up disastrous (their kids being wild and crazy) or remarkably successful (kids being brilliant outside the box thinkers).
Nuffink is a trying to be the tough kid and isn't quite the brightest but is still really funny. He actually kind of looks up to her sister. Zephyr is a tough great warrior like her mother and looks so much like her but she is so smart just like dad and when she met toothless in the homecoming special she reminded me so much of her dad
It's kinda sad, in a way, watching these two interacting in a normal, healthy way at a time when it seems almost every relationship Hollywood puts on screen today is so toxic, broken, and where every female character is the same boring, "tough, indpedepndent, and don't need no man", Mary Sue.
It is just very nice seeing a couple being happy and functional for once! No drama or danger, just two people who are genuinely in love being there for each other and interacting in a normal, healthy way. It’s just wholesome.
Well, Astrid is tough, independent, and need no man, but not in the way Disney is making their female characters. She’s tough because she makes herself that way, but she does lean on others for support. The need no man for her just means that she doesn’t always need someone swooping in to save her. She can do that herself. I agree with you. She’s got a good vibe going
She rlly changed from Httyd 1, from a competitive jerk into suportive, humble and loveable angel. And i like how She treat others the way others treat her. Hiccup definitely desserve her
Nah, I mean I knew she had feelings for him but nothing like Boyfriend/Girlfriend. They were just friends by the end of the first movie and were nowhere close to a romantic relationship yet. Plus the way they were acting in Dragons Riders of Berk, Episode 3: "Animal House" pretty much put that case to rest for the time being. Then that case was re-opened when Heather showed up then tucked away once more when she left. Then the case was left untouched for 3 years until Astrid got The Scourge of Odin (BTW, Viggo's here in the comments somewhere, I saw his name), then the case was closed once more but wasn't put into storage yet due to what Astrid said to Hiccup at the end of the episode. And then came "Blindsided" which gave us the moment we had been waiting for a very very very very LOOONG time and then the case was finally put to rest once and for all. These are just the major moments but if you want specifics I can go on and on and list you everything but bottom line, no, I didn't think they had been a couple since the end of the first movie.
2:32 is the best and most important supportive scene. Not as emotionally charged as others and not as beautiful as the homecoming and the decision making speech scenes , but it was the right conversation in the right moment and that's why I love it. And thing the best facet of her is the supportive one, as a friend or as a girlfriend/wife. I think it's also the definitive one: it shows her as a strong character and in some moments the most mature character in the movies and RTTE. Everytime I look to Astrid I always have "supportive" in mind; that's the word that describes her better.
I love their relationship, its healthy. They understand each other and they also fight and have relationship problems(which is healthy because they resolved those issues) and also astrid is the best she is not only a love interest but the best ally hiccup has and thats what couples should be, partners that help each other not the savior and the saved.
"but i still have you" is such an underrated moment. you can tell they really deeply cared for each other and trusted one another even before they started their relationship. its moments like these that shows how truly important they are to each other, they already had and did what every couples relationship should do and have even before they were even a couple.
They are my #1 couple of all time , my obsession. They are underrated and PERFECT I guess we all related to what Astrid said about being the person she is today because of Hiccup, I can't imagine how or who I would be without HTTYD . I grew up with it and even though it ended, I will always watch it over and over again and never stop loving it. I wish the fans would make more videos and never leave it!
I feel exactly the same way about Tobey Maguire and Kirsten Dunst’s Peter and MJ in the Sam Raimi Spider-Man trilogy. They will always be miles better than Andrew Garfield and Emma Stone in the TASM movies and Tom Holland and Zendaya in the MCU Spider-Man movies, and the trilogy will always mean so much more to me than any other Spider-Man movies.
I guess there relationship gets overshadowed by Hiccup and Toothless’s relationship. It makes sense because that is the main theme of the series, but I personally agree with you.
@@edwardcooper7711 Have you tried looking for DVD copies? They do sell them on Amazon and each one has two seasons so it's not very hard to get all 6. Heck, I own Netflix but I still got them just so when I don't need Netflix anymore I still have all the seasons.
Adorable, healthy, trust showing kind of couples don't exist that much any more. Hiccstrid, Percabeth, Slolangelo, and maybe Frazel are some rare healthy FICTIONAL couples existing.
*SPOILERS* I still remember going to the theatre with my dad to watch the first movie. Now Hiccup has a beard, a wife, kids and is Chief of Berk, and Toothless has had baby dragons and saved his kind. IM ONLY 20 AND I FEEL OLD!!😭😭😭
Same. I was four when the first movie came out and as a 13 year old when HTTYD 3 and Homecoming came out, I felt old and probably wasn’t supposed to. I think it was because Hiccup got a beard
Same man i'm 17 and i still love this trilogy, this trilogy grew up with me i watched this a lot when i was younger but now i want more for some reason i can't let my past childhood die, i feel obligated to watch every httyd serie or movie that come up, i actually enjoy it. (sorry bad english)
I love that Astrid can be tough and be a warrior but that never gets in the way of her femininity and her and hiccup are actually equals and don’t have a girl needs guy to save her relationship
In that she actually acts like a girl: tough when necessary but kind, soft spoken, doesn't try to overshadow Hiccup to show off 'equality', among other things.
It's not realistic cause it's way too good to be true. It's the most ideal relationship anyone could ever have that is very rare here in the real world. What I would give to be in a healthy relationship like that.
One thing I love about their relationship, which is many things, is that Hiccup constantly doubts himself/his abilities and instead of making fun of him or further increasing his doubts she always stands up for him, encourages him, and reminds him how great he is. The fact that she tells him that shes proud of him a lot too when he makes it work emphasizes this.

I really need to as well... I came back after a video showed up about hiccstrid and I really want to just rewatch everything and watch them develop once more ... (that’ll probs be my 3rd or 4th time rewatching everything, this never gets old. If you lose it, you’ll find it back at some point and the interest in it will come back, always :D )
I think it's easy for guys like me to identify with Hiccup; it's nice to have someone bringing you up rather than dragging you down, and don't get me wrong... toxic relationships are awful and it's good to show that people can just be kind to you. But all the same... it's important not to forget the value of BEING like Astrid. Sure, giving compliments is embarassing and naturally 'dangerous': any kind of vulnerability is. But people like me know better than anyone how important that hand extended when you're knocked flat can be... so I should extend that hand myself sometimes, and you should too ^^

Does a hiccup exist out there? Someone as perfect as hiccup, someone as pure as him? God, this movie multiplies my insecurities by a 100 Factor. Btw, I'm a really confused teenager, like about everything. But if there's one thing I'm sure of, that a hiccup for me doesn't exist. He just doesn't. I really love Hiccup and Astrid grows so much from Astrid being mean, to Astrid falling in love on a romantic flight, to them having those moments in riders and defenders of Berk Especially RTTE. And how much they have grown since then till Hiccup have a beard in the end. I really miss the movie so much and I would never stop rewatching them, even though it's once in a while. I been in the fandom since HTTYD 2 comes out in the theatre....and it's been so long😭I love how they support each other and I was like: I wish I have this kind of relationship 😔 that's why I admire them so much
I’m not the romantic type but I’d say Astrid, Hiccup and Rapunzel, Flynn Rider are some of the best well thought out relationships in Disney movies now a days.
