Astro's Playroom will always hold a special place in my heart. It was the first game my son loved playing, he's 5 now and still plays with me. We are both extremely excited for the new one, we really can't wait.
And mostly to show developers that squeezing the dualsense feature makes people get more in love with the game, i still don't understand why ps5 games doesn't used it more, i mean it's there but barely, not like astrobot.
@@or1on89 I hope this game inspires other developers to bring back platformers like these on other platforms apart from Nintendo (and especially on pc)
The original was absolutely fantastic. The ways that it used the DualSense were something I’ve really never experienced before. I can’t wait for this guaranteed banger
I'm astonished that they don't appear to have even tried to port the first game to PSVR2, same with some other big PSVR1 releases that should have worked by default (RE7 for instance).
@leonro b3cause it would not work by default. Both VR headsets are verry different when it comes to the tech. Also psvr1 tracked the Dual Shock. Psvr2 does not track the Dual Sense. So they would need to change the game alot seeing as the controller was so integrated in the game
I wonder how many people just flat out ignored Astro's Playroom. I know I ignored it for about 6 months before I tried it out. One of the best experiences on PS5 imo.
John's huge smile throughout the entire video while talking about the game is everything you need to know about the game. I'm glad Sony is finally giving attention to the type of games that bring out your inner child while playing them. Nintendo needs more competition in that front.
If this game doesn't appeal to you, you forgot what made gaming fun in the first place. Loved Astro's Playroom and was a genius idea to include it free on every PS5
@@LethalMartialArtistI don’t agree with the premise of the OP. Different gamers have different different preferences. This isn’t surprising. This style of game is for generally more casual audiences that want an escape of some sort. Other gamers want an immersive war simulation or narrative driven RPG, etc. Fun is subjective to all people. While this looks fun to me it may be boring for others and I may lose interest after completing it. It just depends on the person.
@@user-rs1fj1is8c I think the point they are trying to make is just the inherent, intrensic fun you can get from stuff that can sometimes be lost if you get too invested in a competitive or an addicting mobile game style game. You forget why you enjoyed games in the first place. It's perfectly fine to like different things or enjoy things different ways though, I love competitive and immersive stuff. Just keep in mind the intrensic fun if you don't want to lose it
Unironically will get a ps5 just for this game I am not kidding I played the OG that comes with every PS5 on my friend's ps5 Was my GOTY when I played it lol It is genuinly that good
I have just only got a PS5 and completed Astro Bot and loved it. I'm 48 father of 4 and these are the sort of games that appeal to me. I don't have 100s of hours to get into a story or open word game nowadays. I hope more developers start back with games of this sort and 1 player focused.
Probably the only money I’m spending on gaming for the next year. LOVED the PS5 game. Just fun, colourful, catchy as hell music and really showed off the Dual Sense. Can’t wait for this full size sequel!
I was new to PlayStation and Astro Bot was my first PS game when I got my PS5. When I played it, I got the same feeling of playing the Nintendo games. It’s the fun, childish, creativity and silliness that makes me love the Astro Bot. I have pre-ordered the new game and can’t wait to get my hands on it in September. Maybe it will be a GOTY contender.
VR Astro Bot is an unforgettable experience and Sony's Nintendo moment in the best possible way. I hope the impact can be equally as strong without VR..
I tried it and thought it was OK, my favourite PSVR experience was Reaident Evil Biohazard in VR, also the Batman VR was cool of not a bit short. The Star Wars battlefront experience was another thatvstood out for me. Though VR overall just isn't where I would want it to be.
Everything John said about how happy this game makes him feel is exactly how I felt about the first two games. There is an indescribable joy that the games give that I haven't felt it any other games like it. I can't wait for this release!
There is much potential in the space of games with Sony-like tech and Nintendo-like mechanics. It's kind of crazy how little it's been capitalized on. I would be so happy if Astro Bot works out and proves to be the dawn of a new era, and not just a flash in the pan.
Astro Bot is an awesome franchise. I'm glad they turned it into a full game. I wish there was at least an OPTION for VR. Astro Bot Rescue Mission was awesome but I can't stand the old PSVR headset.
Just seeing the glee on John's face as he describes this game was enough to sell this game to me. But yeah I also wanna see a 3D platformer resurgence!
OMG, just to look John talking like that about Astrobot make me feel hype, I mean, looks gorgeous, I need to go back and play the one that we have available until I can buy the physical copy of this one.
Yeeeess this is what I'm talking about. So happy to see John get as excited as I do about fluid sims and rigid body stuff. Even if it's just a clever texture effect (saw some cool looking mud in the footage) I wanna see more of this stuff in gaming.
I 100% completed the pack in game because I had so much fun with it and the haptic feedback experiences throughout. I will definitely be picking this up day one for sure!
I've been waiting for a full Astro Bot game for so, so long. especially now that it's got the Linneman seal of approval, I know we're in for something truly special
If they can replicate the liveness of astrobot game that came with ps5 this will be incredible, after they released the update to it I actually started noticing small details and interactions I had missed when I first played the game.
There needs to be more games like this, that capture the joy we all got when we first started playing. I think somewhere along the way, games forgot to be fun. John is hyped like a little kid opening a n64 at christmas. 😂
6:42 John is channeling the Crazy Frog! So happy to hear how well this game is coming along, this is why I love 3D platformers, this looks like pure fun! The kind of game that just makes you smile!
Pound for pound, Astro’s Playroom is still the most fun I’ve had on PS5 to date. I’ve been hoping they’d do a full retail Astro, and surprising absolutely nobody, it looks like Team Asobi are about to deliver another exceptional 3D platformer.
I hope it does well because these type of games are a staple to the industry. It will be hard to get the younger folks of today onto something like this though especially when they just play a game primarily for Roblox/Fortnite skins that keeps them locked in & playing nothing else which is unfortunate.
All I could think about after playing Playroom was that I wanted a full game version of it. Looks so great, I haven't been excited for a game in a long time.
Sony needs to bring more games like this. They really need to take a long hard look at the PS1 and PS2 era and try to rekindle that magic moving forward.
I have pre-ordered it as the pack in was and still is a family favorite in our house, I think we can expect a solid experience as we have already experienced what is in essence an extended demo with the PS5 pack in.
If this game was developed on the switch, this would be considered a AAA high profile game. However, since it was developed on a Sony console, they don't consider it that and the price point proves it as well. This game needs to sell well into the millions for them to realize that this is a genre that fans will buy into.
@@chrisruston3920 to be fair, all switch games are like this. Switch players have been trained to buy and enjoy games like this. Not so much PlayStation players.
@@runner9528I agree with you. The Switch is handheld, which is always a plus point for it, allowing you to play games anywhere. That's why games sell well on the Switch. I also own both consoles, but regardless of graphics and frame rate, I always prefer the Switch mostly because of its comfort and portability.
I played Astro bot just to kill time till god of war ragnarok downloaded. Did not expect so much fun and entertainment from it. The nostalgia coupled with the gameplay and showing off the controller was totally unexpected. Nostalgia brought a tear to my eye. Cannot wait for this.
I hope this will be hugely successful and will NOT get copied to death by other devs, but just be a sign that we as gamers crave more variety than what is currently offered by the big game publishing companies.
Here's hoping we get a bubble head collectable Astro bot with a collector's edition, that'll be sweet as, Astro bot is colossal fun, and was mega stoked when a sequel was announced, I'm waiting for this with great ferver, love that dang robot
Talking about the feel of a game. These are the types of titles that remind us what consoles can deliver over pc. It’s always been about the feel for me.
I’m 29 and the first video game I ever played was Crash Bandicoot Warped on the PS1 when I was 6, this brings me all kinds of nostalgia and I’m excited to show my kids this game one day (the oldest is only 3 so not yet lol)
I don't care what anyone says, I know this game will be a turn off your brain fun ride and it looks stunning as well. Not everything needs to be a souls like in terms of difficulty but people have forgotten that.
Honestly, this is what I loved about the free one as well. Just the ability to sit back and play a fun platformer with low stakes, no deep story telling with long cutscenes and just full-on fun. The way the controller is used is also a really big plus making it more immersive and intuitive fun than any other platformer out there
Glad to see something different from Sony. I was disappointed their most unique studio was shut down a few years ago but hopefully Asobi can keep doing stuff like this
Game looks Great, Day 1 for me but you always get those comments "but its for kids" soo? What about it? Dont kids deserve a nice product? Dont kids deserve a high quality title as well? And it just happens to be so good its enjoyable for Everyone? I just never understood that mute point
I hope this game is a huge success. I couldn't be more excited for it and SONY's Japan studios were so great. It's a shame they don't do as much these days.
Yes they shut down a studio in 2021 I just mean in general I want SONY to give their Japan team more resources to create unique games like Astro Bot and those previous series their Japan teams helped create.
I don't often play any games at all but when I do it is fromsoft titles PSexclusives like TLOU or...actual fun games like astro boy! very much looking forward to a few hours after work, sitting down just smiling in delight.
That's great to hear. I feel John's enthusiasm & agree. Just a fun game where the focus is on chilling out and enjoying the creative design & ease of accessibility. Rather than it being about the ultimate challenge. Does look Nintendo like, but for PlayStation. Lots of nostalgia around ps software and hardware. Can't wait to check it out.
Hey guys just wanted to say. Spider-Man remastered and miles morales got FSR3.1 and frame gen. You guys should cover it cause I’m getting 144 virtually locked on a rx6600 i711700f. Your guys Optimized settings except some are bumped up with ray tracing enabled of course. This is update is insane dude
Astros Playroom had no right to be as good as it was, just amazing. Nice to see the extra DLC that's been released for it but Astrobot looks incredible and definitely getting it.
PlayStation's answer to Mario. Previously that was Knack which had the issue of being a de-emphasized platformer. Like Playroom it looks like a celebration of everything Playstation and thus a homerun.
Even before they talked about it, you could hear and see how much John enjoyed that demo. I feel him on that, sure there are many nice games, but I barely feel that pure enjoyment and fun anymore and the pack-in of Astro delivered just that (much like It Takes Two for me in co-op did). I'm still worried that, that it might not sell overly great somehow with today's playerbase? Which would be a shame, but I can't shake those worries.
The first one made me smile from start to finish, giggle and so much more and the only ps5 game I actually just had to do everything in it. What a special game and I hope this one does well because it made me feel a feeling I only got from opening console boxes back in the day and I mean the N64, the Dreamcast, and SNES. ❤ I also agree that it was the one game that really sold me on the haptics - since then I wish every controller had it.
