@WPEngineBuilders I have attempted to use this project with zero success.. unfortunately I think it might no longer be a working project! Was hoping to use this since im beggining from 0 in Astro. Much appreciation! i get the Cannot read properties of null (reading '__typename') error. I have followed every bit of article and video, created the env and installed the modules.
I'm more of a traditional front end developer not WordPress. Can you suggest a couple of long form tutorials or course using Astro and WordPress together? I really like Astro and in all honesty would only use WordPress as a CMS.
I'm not sure there are any courses on it, but I also wrote this post that shows some on the WP stuff: wpengine.com/builders/building-headless-wordpress-site-astro/
Glad we're cooking up stuff that makes people reconsider : ) With headless it would be easy to combine the two if you wanted, and we're seeing more people in the commerce space opt for that approach. Thanks for watching- JE
Previews is one of those things I've been meaning to build into the starter, but just haven't had time. I wrote this after adding previews to Nuxt using our FaustWP plugin, and the process would be very similar in Astro: wpengine.com/builders/headless-wordpress-post-previews-in-nuxt-3/
@@WPEngineBuilders I mean, if you cooooouuulllld that's be amazing. It's a missing piece of the puzzle for me. I spent all weekend on it and it's beyond me. Couldn't figure out
Welcome and thanks for watching! WP Engine's Atlas hosting plan provide both pieces of the tech stack (WP & Node container) to host this type of site, and we have a pretty affordable plan that starts at around $50 a month. But you can test it out for free here, and that's what I'd recommend: wpengine.com/atlas/#atlasplans
Hi, i'm tring to use this template, but i get an error after run the project. (fetch failed). I haven't been able to see what is going on. any ideas? 😥
Not really. Great question though! Astro is either SSG or SSR at the moment, and you have to choose one or the other. If you go SSR, you can set cache headers on your responses, which is kind of similar to how Remix approaches this point, and approximates ISR without the on-demand feature. If doing SSG, I think you'd have to rebuild the whole site. Our platform has webhooks that could trigger that on content update. Here is a link to how to set headers with SSR: docs.astro.build/en/guides/server-side-rendering/#astrorequestheaders - JE
Pretty much 100s on Lighthouse for performance, but you can check it out yourself here (might get a cold start) since this is prerendered but not cached: h5aqsgfqwiqp3q75zuyvvu3ak.js.wpenginepowered.com/
Because I want to write my website in Astro and manage my content in WordPress :) There are many ways to WordPress, so do whatever works best for your use-case - JE
