Astronomers have found the strongest statistical evidence of Planet 9, the hidden planet of our solar system believed to be lurking in the outskirts of the solar system. The possibility of the existence of Planet 9 has long intrigued scientists. Some researchers believe it might have been a rogue planet captured by our Sun's gravity, while others think it could have formed from the same disk of gas and dust as the other planets. If Planet 9 exists, it is believed to be ten times more massive than Earth and orbit the Sun at a distance of 400 to 800 Astronomical Units, which is 400 to 800 times the distance between the Earth and the Sun.
Astronomers have been eagerly hunting for clues, using powerful telescopes and advanced computer models to track its influence. After years of watching the sky, solving mathematical equations, and running complex computer simulations, they now have the strongest evidence yet that Planet 9 really exists. This discovery introduces an exciting plot twist in the story of the hidden planet.

Pluto was not discovered by gravitational influences. That it was located where they were looking was merely good luck. When the correct mass for Uranus was calculated, it turned out Neptune was right where it should be and was not being "pushed around" by tiny Pluto.

It was my distant cousin who discovered pluto. His name was Clyde Tombaugh
@MrSummitville
@MrSummitville День назад
But Clyde Thombaugh was looking for Planet 10, per Percival Lowell's math predictions per Neptune's orbit. Pluto was found where Planet 10 was supposed to be. They learned that Pluto was too small and they learned Percival Lowell made a math mistake, after discovering Pluto in the Kuiper Belt. Pluto was only a dot, all of the others planets are disks. Without Percival Lowell's math mistake, who knows when Pluto would have been discovered or by whom?

Something that actively masks itself can hardly be called a planet. If it weren't gravitational disturbances, this object, whatever it is, would be undetectable. And this at a time when sensitivity of instruments and observations of the sky reach back to almost the primordial origins of the present Universe but can't detect something that is in the backyard with the mass so large that it affects other planets in the Solar system.

Observational bias is a significant factor in the debate over Planet 9.
@p0k314COM
@p0k314COM 6 дней назад
@oldmech619 No, it's the usual fear of losing grants and jobs. In the current reality, anyone who speaks too loudly about something that should not be said risks everything. Which is typical of any totalitarian system. Events in recent years have only intensified this trend. Therefore, and in this case, scientists, despite their near certainty about the artifact on the outskirts of the Solar system, take neutral and distanced positions. Even the most outspoken of them only mention the presence of a black hole, but no longer add that no native black hole has a chance of such unusual behavior, but only one that is stabilized in an artificial way. There are reasonable hypotheses about an artificial wormhole, which, thanks to a gravitational collapse and the use of extremely advanced technology, allows travel over enormous distances.
@louise_rose
@louise_rose 6 дней назад
@@DryRoastedNutz That's because when those telescopes "see" a planet 500 light years away, often it's not like they actually see it as a discrete point of light - what they're detecting often IS the gravitational irregularities, the "wobbling" of its parent star - and from that they'll deduce the presence of the planet and its orbit.
@Chris.Davies
@Chris.Davies 5 дней назад
You aren't the smartest tool in the shed, now, are you? Objects in our solar system do NOT give off their own light, they can only reflect the sun's light. And if they have a low albedo, and are far from the sun, then it is almost impossible to see them, no matter how large your telescope is. Objects that produce light are always easily detected. That's why we invented lighthouses.

Just a couple of theories explored by myself and my best friend in high school in the early 1980's . How do we know this is a planet ? , since it has this much effect on some objects why doesn't it have effect on all planetary obits around the sun or does it ?. Could this be why all planets have a elliptical shaped orbit ? The orbit shown in the model shows Planet 9 at a close orbit of the sun , if this is the case would that not be enough to disrupt the whole gravitational rotation of the 8 known planets to the point of destruction ? , since it moves so slowly . Is it possible the object is a micro black hole or is it a second star that burned all of its gasses and is just a dead core orbiting our solar system . Which is a causing gravitational pull against larger objects causing them to traverse between the sun and itself in a larger elliptical pattern . So many questions and not enough real answers , yet many sound theories for now which may or may not be proven or disproved in the next 50 to 200 years . Jack Hortimer had a saying Keep Looking Up .
@emuhill
@emuhill 4 дня назад
All orbits are elliptical. Even the Earth's moon has an elliptical orbit. Man made satellites have elliptical orbits too. At most this object could cause minute changes to these orbits. It could also explain why the solar system is tilted 6 degrees to the Sun's equator.

@jgrab1
@jgrab1 5 дней назад
@@skipslone7237 Webb doesn't *only* observe in infrared. The real reason is JWST is not optimized for searching for unknown targets at an unknown location (particularly close up), it will mainly be pointed at a location where scientists know/suspect a planet is orbiting a star, or where scientists expect to see ancient galaxies/stars emitting a lot of infrared light. Using JWST to search for planet X would be a waste of it's time. The Vera C Rubin Observatory, on the other hand, will survey the sky every night, producing an extremely comprehensive and detailed report of any small change in brightness or position of many many thousands (maybe millions?) of objects in the night sky. If planet X exists, Vera C Rubin is much better suited to possibly detecting it.

From documentaries on TV, it was discussed that ancient Sumerians described additional planets, notably one which was nearest the sun several 1000s of years ago, and which has since moved on.
@_NicBP
@_NicBP 3 дня назад
Whilst the Sumerians did have some idea about the heliocentric system we are in, there is no evidence to suggest they knew anything more than what was visible to the naked eye. They did not know the difference between star and planet. If you are referencing the dubious modern interpretation of the Sumerian Tablet that shows the sun with the dots around it - these are not what Sumerians thought were all “planets,” only what they could see with the naked eye, ergo, stars and planets out as far as Saturn and that is it. The dubious “interpretation” of the Sumerian tablets on the topic of planets has always been an insult to science - and an obvious case of self-serving nonsense.

As a very casual observer only to these theories, I have a couple of queries/observations (I saw this video on my YT sidebar): 1) has the possible theory of our Solar System having a companion, brown dwarf star been discarded? If not, why is this theory not being calculated into the mathematical computations, attempting to determine if a planet 9 does exist? 2) unless the planet 9's orbital path is well above the Solar System's ecliptic plane would it not experience intermittent collisions with objects in both the Kuiper Belt & Oort Cloud, causing anomalous orbital irregularities (even then, it would require extraordinary luck, to avoid these collisions)? As well as potential planetary adjustments in both luminosity, & radiation, of spectral phenomena? Sure, it would require extreme luck to sight such an event. Assuming the alleged planet is not near it's aphelion, which would dictate that no such events would be occurring for upwards of 100s of years. Putting it well outside our scope to witness such events, given the small duration of time, we have possessed such technology. The questions are based around our Sun's real distance, of maintaining orbital integrity (which, as I understand it, is a reality in mathematical theory only), of any smaller body, such as a planet. Would any planet, regardless of size, be able to maintain orbital integrity, at it's extreme aphelion, unless it also experienced anomalies from unknown, external forces? Could both an unseen dead star, & unknown planet(s), with extreme orbital deviation be possible causes, of the seen anomalies, within our known Solar System? Just asking.
@plenum6448
@plenum6448 4 дня назад
Q1. Yes, that possibility has been discarded. Why? Brown dwarfs are hot for billions of years and, combined with their size, would have been detected via infrared detectors here on Earth or by the numerous detectors/telescopes launched into and out of Earth's orbit. Planet 9, if it exists, is not a brown dwarf. My readings say that a brown dwarf has to be about 13-15 times more massive than Jupiter. That's far too big and hot to be UN-detectable.

Pluto was misclassified because they did not know about it's orbit or that it has not cleared it's orbital path, that said if you want to count Pluto as a planet then you need to count the five other planet's that are similar to Pluto like Eris and it's moon Dysnomia. Eris is the same size as Pluto. But the planet hes talking about yes, they have known about it for over 100 years. The Sumerians knew about it but couldn't find it.
@jiminverness
@jiminverness 6 дней назад
@@MikeMcKinlay _"or that it has not cleared it's orbital path"_ That is a rubbish criterion invented specifically to try and exclude Pluto. Why do I say "rubbish criterion?" Because it is nonsense to consider something a planet or not based on *extrinsic* conditions. Also, technically, most if not all the classical planets have not cleared their orbital paths in any case. _"hat said if you want to count Pluto as a planet then you need to count the five other planet's(sic) that are similar to Pluto like Eris..."_ Yes, I completely agree. A number of moons are also planets in their own right, other than that they are a smaller member in co-orbit with (or in orbit around) a larger planet. Also, Ceres, Mercury (despite it's steep inclination and discongruity with the other classical Planets), and Haumea (while not an oblate spheroid, it would be under its hydrostatic equilibrium but for its extreme rate of spin that keeps it deformed). _"But the planet hes talking about yes, they have known about it for over 100 years. The Sumerians knew about it but couldn't find it."_ Yeaaah, nah. I'll believe it if they find it.

When I see documetations for planet 9, I ask myseld why we take for granted that there is only one planet left? It seems that we are just starting to discover what is in the region of the Kuiper belr. It also seems, that there is a second belt after the Kuiper belt. This is all unknown territory, where we have some spots with several small planets/objects and I assume, we will discover far more of them in the future.
