A grand slam allowed in a 1-run game? A bloop single with 2 outs and the bottom of the lineup coming up in a blowout win? Doesn’t matter. With WHIP, a hit is a hit. What’s a walk? A walk issued to a hot hitter up with first open, a runner on second, and a double play-prone hitter on deck? Or a bases-loaded walk issued to a crappy hitter in a tight game? Doesn’t matter. With WHIP, a walk’s a walk, even though one is a legitimately good strategic move and the other is just poor pitching. WHIP doesn’t tell much of a story about a pitcher’s performance at all.

Now that I think about it, Wins really shouldn’t be included in the triple crown. They don’t mean as much anymore and heavily depend on how good your team is.

My Rangers broke the Astros in the LCS last year. The Tigers are legit though, their pitching staff and lineup are solid. Crazy to think Miggy leaving would make them better somehow.

Kinda crazy wins are still part of it, since nobody really cares anymore. WHIP is probably more meaningful. Same with batting average for the offensive TC, average is important, but not as important as OPS.

@@theywouldnthavetocensormei9231 I mean, the batting triple crown is similarly irrelevant - Batting Average is useful but mostly outclassed by OBP, and RBI are almost as useless as Pitcher Wins. Edit: Didn’t notice you mentioned Batting Average already in your comment

@@FroyoMNS I mostly agree with you except for RBI, I think RBI is very meaningful. The entire point of the game is to score more runs than the other guys, so players that drive in runs are extremely valuable. I do understand that some of it is outside of the players control, if your team sucks you're going to have less RBI because there's less runners to drive in. But it's more meaningful than pitcher wins for sure.

It's just something they said you did and not a real award like MVP, Cy Young and golden glove.

Marc is just another bandwagon punk making video praying on the Astros downfall. This is why I hate baseball channels like Marc, Fuzzy, and Tomboy; they all have to dog on the Astros. But when they win they're acting like they support the team when in reality they despise the fact that they did better than their team.

Yeah I totally agree. If we have 3 of our 5 injured pitchers (Valdez, Javier, Urquidy, Garcia, McCullers) this team will turn from a last place to a first place team again.

I dunno though, other than Altuve and Alvarez, the offense hasn't been nearly as productive as they should be. I think they'll be ok, but this might be a step back from their recent success. And I'm a Houstonian and lifelong Astros fan, so no hate here, just being real. This team isn't as good as the World Series winners.
