I thought the same, silica from a dessicant pack. Or perhaps bubble tea was spilled and that's a dried out bubble. 😅

it is somehow frustrating that most of the times the repair is incredibly simple (not counting the troubleshooting skills), it is such a shame that countless simple to fix devices are thrown away

True. I have 1 Samsung J710 motherboard that I cant find the problem ... 2 shorted caps..
@supupandaway8138
@supupandaway8138 2 года назад
Not counting the troubleshooting skills its also knowing to heat the board up from the bottom so that cap doesn’t shoot your eye out or what if one of those caps he removed entered the 7th dimension you have to know how to figure out what goes back there and not that its just a cap but what package and what capacitance goes back and I’m just getting started take that board heat it up then bump those parts and mix them up and not have a schematic and good luck getting it back together caps change resistance tolerances also when they are in circuit and vice verse I’m sure you are getting the picture by now

Hey boss, when heating from underneath the board, what temp do you set your hot air to? 400 still?, id like to try that technique, im self taught, and typically if im doing a repair real close to an aluminum cap, I cover it with some modeling clay /play doh, and put a more concentrated tip on. Thanks again, you shoukd start a patreon, im gonna order a bunch of stuff i dont need from your site, because you've taught me so much

2:45 why are the traces in a squiggle pattern? Does that have a function?
@LudwigvanBeethoven2

Yes. Length of some traces must be matched for high speed connections for example between CPU and RAM so that bits arrive at the correct time.

Hi awesome job I'm a big fan I have a question What temperature do you use for thick boards like laptops or PS4?
@silent9pc
@silent9pc 2 года назад
650 or 700 F should handle a PS4 board no problem, depending on how well your iron compensates heat dispersion on ground planes. Having hot air or a board heater greatly helps though.

Hi Alex, I have suspicious problem with my gamer laptop board. After two inrush limiter mosfet my dmm reads 12-13 ohms, and the Vcore pad shorted to ground (1.2 ohm), but after I injected voltage, (1V, 2A, 3A before CPU) nothing gets hot. Do you have any idea what's gone wrong? Thanks for answering.
