If your Asus Laptop is not turning on, this tutorial will show you how to start troubleshooting for the cause. This video applies if your computer seems totally dead or has minimal signs of life including lights only or hard drive and fan sounds that start but then stop right away. Check out the FAQ's and Related Links below !!

FAQ's:
Q: Does this video apply to my issues?
A: This video is for computers with no signs of life that appear 'dead'. It will also help if you see minimal signs of life such as lights only or some hard drive / fan sounds but they stop right a way. If you are able to see anything on the screen at any point or if the hard drive / fan sound remain on, your issue could be something else. Leave me a message with your exact symptoms and I can direct you to the correct video :)
Q: I have tried all the steps seen here without identifying the issue :(
A: If, after all these steps, you have not been able to find the issue, your most likely looking at a faulty component preventing the motherboard from working or a motherboard issue. I would start troubleshooting each component, starting with the charger and power jack. You can see those two videos here; ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-YBhsVHideGE.html & ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-HpabvrNaodU.html. You can also try replacing other components like your Power Button to see if that is the route cause. If none of those are the issue, you would then be left with a motherboard replacement.

My laptop has an indicator light that turns on when I'm charging even if it's turned off. I noticed that that indicator light is not working. And my laptop won't turn on Edit: Have a technician check your motherboard. There's probably a broken capacitor. It can easily get fixed and much cheaper than buying a new motherboard or laptop.

Hey, my laptop suddenly died on me. Went away(while it was on battery), came back shortly after, and the screen was black; the indicators also didn't light on. I've tried everything so far. The battery indicator doesn't light up when plugged in not even when on battery. I tried both with/out the battery. Fans don't even spin, just nothing. I can't try another RAM, the other one I got has a different plug-in. The power diode just beeps but nothing happens. Is there any way you could help out?

Hey! I have an ASUS ROG flow x16, model GV601V1-cs94. The other night it was working, then the next morning it wouldn’t turn on. When I’d plug it in the keys and power button would occasionally turn on, but after 2-3 seconds it would turn off. There may have been an update that went thru overnight, but I’m not 100% sure. I tried the options that were possible without opening the bottom (internal battery). Do you have any advice? I may possibly be able to get to the battery, but if I have to send it to ASUS I wouldn’t want them to charge me for tampering. Thank you so much for your help!

I've owned a G512LV-ES74 (Asus Rog Strix G15, 2020) for 3 years, and I recently opened up my laptop to clean the fans. After disconnecting the battery connector and fan connectors, cleaning the fans, and putting everything back, my laptop will not turn on. I've done it before (sometime in 2022), but this time, there is no signs of life at all. Charging indicator does not light up when plugged, rgb lights won't turn on, nothing. I don't know how to remove the battery (only disconnect the connector), so I haven't tried that method you mentioned. I'm thinking I did something wrong (maybe forgot to plug something or something else) but I don't know, as I've doubled checked and remember plugging in everything I unplugged. There was no update beforehand, no spills, no overheating, etc. It worked completely normal last night. Could a battery or charger really die all of a sudden in the morning when the previous night it was completely fine?
@PC_Monkey
@PC_Monkey 11 месяцев назад
In order to perform the power drain test, you only need to disconnect the battery from the motherboard. As long as its disconnected, plastically removing it is not needed :) If the computer worked before I enter it but does not work after, my first assumption is that I left something disconnected or loose. I have an Asus vivobook e510ma. My battery used to work fine, i even left it for an hour running last night on purpose to discharge it. I checked powercfg /energy to see the battery life and thought discharging was important after seeing a few comments. Now my pc wont turn on without the charger and it constantly keeps 30% and turns off if unplugged, not ever moving from 30. When I checked my battery life, the last charge capacity was 32% of the design capacity. Did discharging cause this and why was it working fine before? edit: fixed typo

It seems to be in food shape, I left it off and charging for about an hour and then re-used another method which was restarting it normally and then when the logo pops up, holding the power button for 10+ seconds. My Asus has an internal battery, so I opened it as you suggested and disconnected the battery ribbon. This powers up the machine, so I reconnected the battery. The battery light indicator indicates it is charging, as does the battery icon in the OS as well, but... it seems to be stuck permanently at 6% charge. Should I assume this means the battery is just dead/defective? It's a bit of a bummer since I only bought the laptop new a month ago, but I guess at least it wouldn't be an overly difficult thing to replace.

hey bud, how's it goin'... I'm having no power issue with TUF a17 2021.... Last time it was turned off there was a cellphone charging, and a wacom pen display was connected via hdmi ( hdmi plugs into radeon and not the rtx 3070 graphics ) I believe this combo produced the issue... anyways I tried removing the adapter , removing the battery, cleaing static charge... nadda... then a couple days later I did the same and it powered up and turned on just on battery... another issue appeared... when the laptop is closed and not turned off and you open the lid, sometimes it is impossible to enter pass.... this is how it booted this last time... i did a restart trough win...same thing couldn't input pass.. the I did a shutdown, and again no power issue... When I connect the charger the battery light is white = 100%.... I also tried removing RAM didnt help... Only thing I can think off is going to my friends garage and use the multimeter tool to measure the charge on ac adapter and on battery.... If you have any other suggestion ; I would appreciate it.... by the way this model doesnt have a coin cell battery to clear CMOS (spoke with ASUS).. have a good one....

If, after all these steps, you have not been able to find the issue, your most likely looking at a faulty component preventing the motherboard from working or a motherboard issue. hello!! i have an issue with my ASUS fan that i’m afraid will end up butchering my laptop, i was hoping you could help? ): i’ve had an ASUS ROG Zephyrus G15 GA502DU since 2019 and randomly without any warnings or signs, my laptop now emits an awful noise and the fan is barely working! when i entered UEFI/BIOS my cpu temp started at 40°c and quickly raised to 73°c within minutes (i was not gaming or previously gaming) and my cpu fan speed would not exceed around 774rpm…?! perhaps my fan is faulty and i just need a simple replacement, but i’m unsure if it’s a deeper issue within the motherboard? the problem literally occurred overnight… not sure what happened but besides the quick overheating, terrible noise and super low fan speed, the laptop otherwise still runs beautifully… no lag, shutdown, or slow loading speeds anywhere? besides these 3 problems it honestly runs like nothing is wrong, but it’s going to fry itself!! (i haven’t spent more than 10mins in a game due to quick overheating but within those 10mins the game ran fast with no issue) i never once had a problem with this laptop in all 5 years until now… and a speedy ramp up to 73°c in simple BIOS paired with a 774rpm cpu fan speed is so scary… only a week ago i could play games for hours without any issue ): sorry for overexplaining i’m just at a loss ): do you have any idea on what this could be or is it just a simple fan failure that can be replaced? thank you SO much for reading and creating this helpful content!!

An overheating CPU can be damaging itself and other components including but not limited to the motherboard. If the computer has already been overheating for some time, multiple components may already be damaged and may need to be replaced. Troubleshooting each non-working component may then be tricky if you cant rely on the other components to be healthy.

@@leahvigs In some cases, the CPU or motherboard could be being damaged slightly over time with overheating. If its not too bad, the motherboard will usually go before the CPU does. So, if my laptop is plugged in and I try holding down the power button for 30 seconds, it doesn't start up, but if I unplug the power cord (charger) and then press the button for 30 seconds, my laptop will turn on, but is slow to start up. This just started happening after almost a year of no problems. You're saying that we need to deenergize the internal components, which is understandable, but not sure why this would affect startup. This is the first laptop I've ever owned with this problem. My spouse has owned an Asus laptop for 5 years and his has never had this problem. It seems to me that either the charger, internal battery or internal power switching module is the culprit, but most likely in my case it's the charger.

Hi PC monkey PLEASE HELP PLEASE my ASUS TUF A17 laptop started having problems last week after it was updated. When I tried restarting it it said it ran into a problem and then showed automatic repair. I don’t properly remember, but there was an option saying 'repair' (I don't remember). It said some recently downloaded files may be deleted, or some things. I pressed 'yes' as I didn’t install things recently. After that, my laptop turned on and problems started, like Wi-Fi disconnecting and not showing its icons sometimes. I wasn’t able to open anything in my files as it would show 'no such interface supported.' When I tried troubleshooting, it said 'this file does not have an app associated…'. An hour ago, my laptop froze, so I tried restarting with the power button. When I tried turning it on, it showed 'your PC ran into a problem,' and after that, it automatically went to automatic repair. Then it again went to 'your PC ran into a problem,' and then its screen just turned off. Then I thought I'll start it again, but I suddenly saw the charging light also turned off, and till now, it isn’t turning on. I am really in a problem. Please help me if you can. Well, this is a long shot but might as well. I have an ASUS tuf f15 laptop and the power button itself isn’t working. I’ll restart it and update etc but didn’t shutdown for a while because of this. Today I foolishly thought I could upgrade my ram and still be able to turn it on but nupeee. Any suggestions? If I can turn it on again there should be something I can do to turn on without the button (or replace it) every site and video I have found are about diagnosing or completely unrelated and I can’t seem to find any leads
@PC_Monkey
@PC_Monkey 9 месяцев назад
If your power button itself it not working, it should be replaced. There are ways of 'jumping' many motherboards to turn it on without the power button but since there is a high risk of 'bricking' the motherboard if done incorrectly, I dont assist with that procedure here on my channel. Sry :( Have you tried the steps seen here?

What do I do if my power button is broken? I somehow managed to press it but the light only turned on for a second then went off, and turned back on, then went off again. I’m clueless on what to do

My asus laptop randomly shut off and it just wont turn on i also cant remove the battery because i dont have a screwdriver and when i plug in the charger the laptop doesnt show any sign of it being charged so is my laptop just screwed because im pretty sure its not charging at all and it wont turn on even if its unplugged or is it normal in such cases that laptops dont show signs of it being charged?

My ASUS Rog Strix G has been like this since it was new. Seems to be a production/construction fault since so many have the same problem. Sometimes it can take hours or days before it will start again. Holding the start button down for a minute or two does not always work. I can’t get any help to get it fixed or a new computer either. It sucks!

@@PC_Monkey It has been like this since the first week I had it! I have argued and argued with the shop boss before. But did not get a new computer and had to pay every time they sent it away for reparation. Every time they got it back they said ”They did not find any fault and it worked to start for them so you have to pay”. Even though the staff in the shop couldn’t start it either before they sent it away. Now I think the warranty has gone out… 😢 I was going to have it to make music on, but it isn’t reliable. It was really expensive so I am very sad. I have a computer I can’t use.

@PC_Monkey
@PC_Monkey 11 месяцев назад
If, after all these steps, you have not been able to find the issue, your most likely looking at a faulty component preventing the motherboard from working or a motherboard issue.
