I per-ordered this monitor and stepped over from a 27" ASUS Strix 4k 60Hz G-sync monitor, and I must say the gaming experience is better. Visually, I do not believe I lost anything coming from 4k, and the higher refresh rate improved my experience in FPS games. The HDR aspect wasn't a game changer for me, but going from 27" to 32" was awesome! The game feels more immersive and the picture is amazing. Games like Destiny 2 for example look absolutely stunning on this monitor. I only wish there was an option for HDR10 and still under $1k US, then the monitor would be perfect IMO. This was a great purchase that I'm very happy with!

I'm very happy with my AW3821DW Ultrawide and the AW2721D. Such good panels. I managed to get the second one at -$460. Kind of wish I had waited to buy the first one. I could've saved another $520. I think I'm good until a Micro LED 4K HDR1000+ FALD panel comes out. That's the only thing that interests me panel-wise anymore and the prices are going to be stupendous on release. So there'll probably be a long waiting period for them to come down. In the meantime, my new babies will keep me happy.

Issue is, the GPU has to know the monitor's exact gamut for that. If you don't turn on HDR in Windows, you're always feeding an sRGB signal to the monitor unless a game/app sends a HDR signal.

Few thoughts on this monitor after using for about 2 weeks before returning. 10-bit color only works @ 60hz, panel will cap 8-bit color when at 144hz or 175hz. There seems to be a common problem when using HDR mode, monitor will turn down brightness to very low levels and require monitor to restart before it will turn brightness back up. i was able to find multiple reports of the same issue on different tech forums and reddit, Asus did not acknowledge the issue when i tried reaching out to support and instead told me that when HDR is enabled the brightness is controlled by the application.

SURELY if your hardware is able to keep itself in check during faster speeds, it should have no problem delivering a smearing and overshoot free experience when the workload is technically lower? or am i missing something?

Are the cheaper high refresh rate VA panels worth consideration? I think I'm currently on a VA and think it looks great, but hear ips panels are superior.
