I've gone the opposite way with my ally. I owned a pc with Ryzen 5 and 1070 that I had had a few years and looking to upgrade but as I did not game as much a I did in the he past I kind of held off. Decided to get the ally as play more pickup and go games especially with my little one. After using the device I noticed I was using it docked quite a bit but wanted to upgrade my games to 4k so I decided to see my pc and got a 3080 for it and it's replaced my pc for at home and on the go. I only use it for gaming as I own a surface for my pc work which was the same with my gaming pc too. Personally I don't see myself going back to a normal pc especially if devices like this carry on coming to the market.
This is a game changer for battery when turned off. I left mine over night with a game on when hitting the power button and the device lost 5% if that.
I had a Steam Deck for 1 year, modded it to full white, overclocked it but it didn’t do for latest games anymore. So I got an Ally, since I’m a UNIX guy, coming from FreeBSD, Mac OS background was skeptical with Windows. But I was impressed, sure Windows 12 has some quirks but it’s really solid experience with Armory Crate last 3months.
It's definetly a nice and very powerfull device, and although people like to hate on windows 11.... I think it's not as bad as people make it out to be (and thanks to it, it's a very capable and versatile device)
It’s a solid 8/10. I use it at work on my breaks and I love it. The battery life is kind of ass, but where this really shines is being able to play games in bed late at night!
Asus after the hype: I love playing on this console, its dope, and the speakers are just amazing - the sound from Asus elevates the gaming experience on a different level 🔥
Speakers are definitely one of the most "WOW" feature of this, but playing modern games on it is shocking too. ohh and Ori and the Will of the Wisps sounds amazing on it when You play 🎮
I am an all AMD guy soul growing up I was a handheld and to be able to play a handheld all AMD machine let's just say my 6900 XT ryzen 7 has been collecting dust for a few months now because I can't get enough of this handheld
There is something so special about playing triple A games (or any games in general) on a device like this in handheld mode. I've been playing AC Valhalla lately and it blows my mind every time I turn it on!
The z1 extreme im getting some gorgeous looking visuals and bananas fps, i got a 2k portable monitor and the graphics look way better than a ps4 pro console. For anybody with 55 inch tvs or bigger play with the settings until you get it right, theres plenty of options to get those visuals close to ps5 , they got a couple of accessories to surpass ps5 graphics though but thats gonna cost people close to 2 grand, its expensive but glad theres a option for that kind of upgrade. I got 5tb in space on the go, days gone, max payne 3, sf6, mk1, call of duty and even red dead redemption 2 run unbelievable on the ally
About the memory it is actually possible to store your games on a cheap external hard drive. You keep on the device the games you’re currently playing and when you want to change, in about 15min you can replace them with a new one from the hard drive. If the microSD slot works you can even do the same thing keeping some or all the games in she microSD card.
Yup, have seen posts about that too, and because it's close to the vent, while also when using the SD card it will heat up. So it's really possible that it will be fried
Horizon Forbidden West runs so well with ROG Ally at 1080P 25W Sustained TDP Custom Profile. Just make sure to turn off CPU Boost and LED Lights and you'll get 1hr and 30 minutes of enjoyment from 100 to 0 battery life. Im so impressed with how light and ergonomic it is as well. It's like holding a modded phone with side controllers on them + the audio quality of ROG Ally beats Legion Go and SD Oled to dust
I wished the rog ally or any handheld had like its own os like an console but aslo a button or like should give you an option when your booting it up to switch to windows that'll be so sick
This thing is INSANE! i have downloaded COD WW2 and it runs at 100fps on HIGH settings!!! The fact i can game in my bed is just mental. Its a 9.5 out of 10 for me. I sold my poweful gaming laptop, its just that good 🙌🏻
And a lot of games play between 45 to 60 FPS at amazing settings like for the game to look good but just wait until the fluid motion frames are actually released racist on this thing how powerful is truly will be
Try putting the Rog Ally into Hibernate mode instead of Sleep mode. For whatever reason, I find the Rog Ally seems to wake up from Hibernate more smoothly than it does from Sleep. Not necessarily wakes up faster, but wakes up most consistently, without problems.
The only problem I have with my Asus Rog Ally Z1 extreme sometimes it crashes for no reason but when it's working it's truly amazing I've rated on World of Warcraft I played Diablo 4 last Epoch F1 manager anything and everything I throw at it it plays and it looks good when the software and drivers are right the thing performs amazingly
Hey ! The games will not expire, and will stay on Your device, but You will not be able to play them if You don't pay for the game pass subscription. So essentially they are unplayable until You subscribe to the service. You can uninstall them if You don't plan to pay for Xbox game pass 😄
Proprietary GPU port (why not Thunderbolt or USB C Gen 4.0???), small screen, 40Wh battery, no trackpad, overheating SD slot... I will buy the Legion Go instead.
It's all about personal preference 😅 For me external GPU is pointless, small screen? It's good enough but could have been bigger, trackpad? Totally unnecessary to be honest, and sd card slot ? Don't use it (like at all) maybe if I wanted to use it as a portable editing station, I might use it to drop footage from SD cards, other than that.... Don't need it 😅 To all of Your points are nothing from my point of view and I'm sure many others too (as I said, it's all preference ) Ohh and it's not too big for travelling with it etc. 🫣
@@SebastianDylag I understand your view, its just I don't share why a company must provide with proprietary solutions. It is like they are forcing you to spend more. (Oh, and don't get me started with the lack of a carrying bag included on the box. Something as small yet useful totally neglected by Asus)
@@Felipe-tw1wg for me the external GPU isn't something I would invest in, but You're right, should have been made a more open system instead of just Asus GPUs, as for the carrying case.... Yup ! 100% agree that it should have been already included 😄
@SebastianDylag 900p, RIS, FSR 3.0, VRAM 7gb, AMD drivers not asus drivers. I could send a video somehow if possible going over the settings which would be easier
@@Manu_Lemoine_FR yep, I push it until it until it makes my room warm 🤣. I play plugged in as I am a old school PC gamer at heart. The AAA titles need that extra juice to play as close to 60fps as I can. To be honest it still plays very smooth anything over 45fps due to the variable refresh rate.
Never used the steam deck so can't compare, but it's not "that" hot, it really depends how you use it. I've been able to run most games in 18w mode, so it lasts longer and doesn't get hot at all 😄 Even at 25 it's not bad !
And did You know that hibernate doesn't help with most games ? Especially the ones that need to be connected to the internet ? I'm starting to think You are not only mad 24/7 but also just dumb at this point. Where did I say the models have different storage options ? Both have the same 512gb, (in this video I mentioned that I wish it had more ) I think You might need to check Your hearing or rewatching the video with actually trying to understand what's being sad instead of saying "get Your facts straight" out of nowhere 😅
