What a time to be alive to be able to carry around this much power. This new competition will help portable gaming evolve even better, I look forward to trying this out someday. For now I'm too scared this will get snatched in the NYC subways I'm taking.
The Ally card slot supports UHS-II cards which are much faster but right now are expensive. There have been reported issues with the card reader and Asus are aware of it so I wouldn't use a sd card to run games on at the moment until Asus has a solution. If your fingerprint is not being picked up quickly you can go into Windows hello settings and reset your fingerprints. I have not had any issues after I did that.
Nice review Gizmo. I own a rog ally and it has no hardware defects. It runs PC games at 1080p with good visuals. It's also a absolute monster machine for emulation. One thing to note, I really think the screen is what sets this device apart from the competition. The 120hz 1080p display + RSR just makes gaming feel so much smooth as lon gas games are over 30 fps.
My dumb ass was searching for the stand in the box and couldn’t find it 🤦🏽♂️ Iv owned this thing for nearly 2 weeks and thanks to this video it’s was in the box all along 😂
There is no update that can fix the location of the sd card slot on the motherboard.A RU-vid video showed the huge mistake of the engineers.I returned mine immediately.
Sold the steam deck after I compared both and of course the Ally mopped the floor with it even when both run at 15W the battery life is the same but the Ally performs better
@@HoodHussler It's not even close lol.... Steam decked averaged 300k units sold a month in its first year un the US. ASUS has around 50k units sold this first month in the US. Thats not even 20% of what Valve sold...
@hoodhussler9163 the only thing Asus is eating is returned products😂😂😂Extremely flawed system. BB practically has a department at each store for all the returns on Ally. Lmao!!
@@keepingitreal940 when the steam deck was first released it was plagued with problems too that were fixed over time but personally I’ve been using the Ally since it’s first released the last bios update did affect performance but not by much I mean I can’t complain when I can still play metro exodus Pc edition on the Ally and still get double the performance of the deck(which was unplayable at 13-19fps) the Ally was able to get 37-50 frames so it’s playable
One thing I would like to ask is if u increase the ram allocated to the gpu from 4GB to 8GB does it affect some games more than others? I mean do u really get more frame rates when using it?
@@Jaxv3r it cost litteraly $870 here in europe not 700 at all and it does even come with case lol . you can get laptop with much better gaming performance for that price. While steam deck 64gb with 512 gb ssd cost just $515 When you consider paying $355 more for lower battery life, jankier system, without track pads ,barely 20% more performance, without case, lacking back buttons,no suspending functions , no gyro control ,worse community support, only just for better screen? It is littarely only overpriced cutting-edge prototype product with some potential for future window handhelds.
?!?!?! My ally is getting 60ish fps on ultra in 1080p on warzone 2. It's like 70fps in multi-player. Using fsr1. The ally is better with fsr1 than fsr2. Rsr is at a driver level but it's just fsr1.
