In this video, we'll be outlining how we replace motherboard sockets here at Joshi Repair. In some cases, the pins could be bent back in place, which is always our first attempt. With this board in particular, there had been a large amount of damage to the socket which warrants a full replacement.
We use high quality tools for all our repairs.

I like your style. You explain things in a sound and easy to understand manor. I really really really want to see more repair videos from you. Question... I have an ASUS ROG STRIX Z490-E and I am not getting x16 lanes on the primary PCIE slot. depending on the CPU I install I get a different lanes reported in BIOS and GPU-Z, I get x8 with a Celeron g5905, 4x with a i3 10100f, 2x with a i5 10400f. The CPU socket/pins looks to be in alignment. I am thinking it may be a broken solder joint on the primary PCIEX16 slot, maybe one of the data pairs are broken, what do you think? any ideas?

Thank you, we always appreciate the feedback. If it's not a broken joint under the socket (more common on older boards) then it could be the capacitors by the slot itself that will need to be addressed. You can factor out the easiest option which is to clean the slot with some IPA and even have a few drops in the socket. All the best.
