This video is a lot more detailed than the others I’ve watched and you can see every little detail of the inside of the laptop and what you’re doing. Replacing my ram tomorrow. Thanks for the video.
Thank you so much bro. I received my new ASUS TUF 15.6" Laptop today. But it came without the connecting cable. I think I need to buy it separately. Your video is absolutely a useful one. Since the laptop came today has one more NVME SSD empty slot, I can connect one more NVME SSD inside and also connect the 2.5 inch SATA SSD too to increase storage. Any way, thank you so much. May God bless you.
Why so? 2021 or 2022 version has 16Gigs which means games runs good at ultra settings it's required to atleast have 8gigs and good specs which ASUS TUF A15 has RTX 3050 And AMD Ryzen 5 or 7 well.. In my country there's no the 7th version only 5th
Thank you so much for this excellent guide. I've just completed my installation following your steps and being able to see clearly which way up the cable goes in stopped me making a bit of an error! You made everything so easy. Thanks again.
Thanks for the video. I thought the cable was too short to put my old mac HDD inside (was from my ps4) turns out I was doing upside down as it was too thick... will have to order a thinner one. Cheers
Amaizing video, I like how detailed it is. Absolutely amaizing. Sadly i bought A15 FA506II and this model doesnt have second ssd slot and no connecting cable is include. So i bought one from China and I hope that it will be okey.
Hola!
I bought a Samsung 870 EVO ssd for my TUF FX505DT and while i was able to install it by aligning the screws, the drive itself was too small, and there's a space between the bracket and ssd. I managed to set it up and seems to work. Do you think that there should be any issues?
It came with the laptop in the box. It should be in a small compartment inside a small plastic baggie, along with the screws in another small plastic baggie.
@@TonyNYC233 cheers for the reply! I ended up getting the part number from Asus and found one for a few quid online 👍didn't have the screws so I ended up using electrical tape to secure the drive 😂 hasn't melted yet
is it okay to just add the stock ram with another ram from another brand like crucial with the same clockspeed but different capacities, like the stock ram is 8gb then I will add a crucial 16gb ram with the same speed, is there any problems with that
No. But if you pair 8 and 16gb of ram it won't run in dual channel mode. For that you need two sticks of the same capacity. Otherwise only 16gb of your 24 GB will run in dual channel mode. And you'll lose about 10-15 performance.
@@alexanderunknown8605 no. You can see that if you look at the FPS. You're lossing around 5-10% of performance on single channel mode depending on the game. Now one can argue, that 5-10% is not much, and it isn't, but it's there and it's "lost" ;)

Thanks bro, but I had question. On 3:58 aside of the screw there's a connector cable. Is that okay if SSD stick pressing the cable? Because ssd usually getting hot while in use. Will the cable getting burnt or something?
Sorry I have no clear answer to that to be honest. I would assume it's fine as they only get hot when you copy large files for a longer time. But nor guarantees 😕
Brother I have the same laptop Model number FA506II but I don’t seem to have a m.2 slot but just an sata sad slot I’ve seen a lot of videos but everyone has a extra m.2 sad slot is it placed somewhere else on the motherboard cuz it’s not above the sata drive slot
I have a ASUS TUF Gaming A15 FA506IC and I'm not sure if my laptop has two NVME SSD slots or not. I've heard that it does but then I've heard that it only has one NVME SSD slot and then a normal hard drive bay instead. Can someone tell me which one is correct for my specific model?
What about upgrading the battery to a 90whr by removing the SATA cage? I heard it's possible? I really need help with this because the official ASUS service center in my country will NOT issue a higher capacity battery for my model. PLEASE HELP 🙏
Yes it's possible, i have a friend with this laptop and upgraded the battery to the 90whr one, he only need to put some adhesive so the battery won't wobble.
This is so good, when I looked the the price of the same laptop but with 1 TB ssd and 16 brb ram it was like 30 thousand ₹ more. Which is a lot! I can do it with like 3k
Hello there, I have successfully installed a 2,5 inch ssd (120 gd) and installed windows 10 OS for a dual boot experiment. However I am unable to boot the new hard drive, i could eot from the (esc) boot menu. But now it wont boot. Any ideas?
Could you please tell me the number or size of the screw you used when installing the Samsung SSD? I lost the screws but I understand there are different sizes, and I don't know which size to buy. Please
Laptop model: Asus Tuf F15 Fx506hcb Core i5, 8gb ram, 4gb Rtx 3050ti,60watt. I have some questions: 1. Can I use a 7mm Sata hard drive raw without putting it in a sata enclosure (case) like yours? 2. Have you experimented with various sata cable like that of HP on your Asus Tuf laptop? Cuz I need to do the upgrade ASAP and I can't find an Asus Tuf F15 sata cable at my local store. 3. As long as my battery isn't 90W, the 7mm sata hard drive should fit in right? Cuz it seems 90watt batteries covers the HDD extra space 4. Will a 7mm HDD actually work? Because you used an SSD to demonstrate and I don't want to buy a HDD if it won't work but that's what I can afford for now. Thanks in advance
1. Should work, but especially regular hdds are vulnerable to moving around especially when acrive and should be fixated. You risk data loss and a head crash if it's loose. 2. No I didn't. Did you search in your box? It might be really hidden inside 3. Correct. 4. Yes. As long as it's really 7mm it should fit fine.
someone told me the primary m.2 was locked from other devices, if this is true, is there a way to access the primary drive on another device? if you have a video on this a link would be fine as well
Hey Hubwood, I wondered if the drivers on the Iris Xe have improved to the point of surpassing the MX350. Really appreciate your videos as the tackle many reviews and points that you can't find elsewhere. Much love.
Try ONLY the old ram in the second slot to see if the slot itself is broken. Also try ONLY the new ram stick in both slots to see if it works that way.
hi bro ,this video wa so helpfull ,but i have a question .how can i check m.2 slot pci version ,i wanna buy kingston m.2 ssd it's pci version is 4.0 \\\\\pls help m e
At 8:50 you say "you reconnect the battery, because otherwise laptop won't turn on". Surely this can't be right? Is there protection against running the laptop without battery on this model, just from wall power?
if you combine 16 + 8 GB only 16GB will run in dual channel mode and 16-24 wont. This CAN cause some issues, or lets say it's not "optimal". The Laptop will work and everything, but you're leaving performance "on the table".
What size/type of ram does it take? there were specifications for ssd size and hdd, but I don't think there were for ram. Should I be concerned with this if I'm looking into upgrading it? (I'm upgrading my pc for the first time)
How do I take out the previous HDD on the computer? Because if I install another one than I’ll have two hard drive disks I only wanna keep the new one so how do I remove the hard disk drive that came with the computer? I need help please.
That would be the m.2 ssd on the left side (when the battery is at the bottom). You unscrew the old m.2. Ssd and insert the new one. However that way you would need to install everything from scratch. If you want to copy the old ssd you will need to install both first and clone the old one to the new one. For example with a free tool like macrium reflect.
hey man I have a question for u. I am planning add hdd to my computer. I already have 256 gb ssd. I worry about if I add hdd my computer will be slower or stb. Is there any problem with that? @Hubwood
@@Hubwood I have 256 gb ssd on my laptop. I am planning add hdd to M1 slot. Probably I will store games. If i use hdd and ssd same time is my laptop getting slower? I don't have too much money. So i thought if i buy hdd i can store 1tb. which one is better, 400-500 gb ssd or 1tb hdd?
I have the ryzen 5 version , 512ssd. What's the maximum ssd I can put? Like is it only 512 for each slot ? or can I place a 1tb ssd along with the 512 that came with the laptop?? Thank you sir!
hi quick question is kingston 16b DDR4 3200hz would be compatible with the 8gb 3200hz in a15 2021 version? would like to upgrade to 24gb ram if possible. and have 32gb ram in near future.
Yes of course. The best way would to clone your windows drive to the new drive first. The replace it. It will be like nothing happened. You can do that with the free tool Macrium Reflect. Pretty easy to use. Still look at tutorials so youre sure to use the whole new drive and prevent the system to cap the new drive at the old drives capacity.
Thanks for the video! I don't have a cable inside my TUF A15 laptop nor it didn't come with the purchased SSD. Now I want to buy a cable. How is it called? Which one should I order?
@@alexanderunknown8605 absolutely possible. Yes. This video is about an older TUF. New TUFs are completely different laptops. Which is why I hate the naming schemes manufacturers give their laptops.
