I have exactly the same laptop and added 16GB of memory and now it is 8GB onboard + 16GB on memory slot = 24GB onboard memory is DDR4-2400 mHz and probably CL 17 and the memory I added is G.SKILL 16GB DDR4-2400 mHz CL 16 so far I don't have any problems, and even if you add a faster memory with lower CL there won't be any effect so I advice you not to buy a more expensive one since onboard memory will limit the performance I wish there will be 2 memory slots and no onboard memory so I could upgraded to 32GB and thank you very much for this video, it helps a lot happy upgrading 😁👍
It means your new RAM will be operated on latency CL17 right??? One more question : Are both RAM working on 2400 MHz or your System underclocked it automatically???

Take same frequency Ram. Check in your laptop which Ram is it and frequency in task manager. Then purchase the same Ram frequency speed. Brand you can use any.

@@HYPIESTBOY sorry dude I didn't buy it from Amazon nor I looked into it, what I can tell you is search for the technical and specific description of the ram and ask the vendor id it's compatible with your laptop, you might also check the ram you currently have and them search a compatible one by asking. That's what I did and it worked perfectly

Question...I have had my ASUS VIVOBOOK X505BA for about 2 1/2 years now and it is starting to slow down some (i.e. multi-tasking, loading computer after a restart and multiple web browsers running at same time). 1. Would adding more RAM (like in this video) help that issue? 2. I already have 8 GB 'stock' on mine so would that be 4 GB & 4 GB or would it 8 GB and an open slot?
1. adding Ram is not the solution First check by reinstalling os or having a service of your laptop means cleaning and thermal pasting, because after one year laptop needs service and don't use on the bed your laptop. 2. In this model laptop has onboard 4GB Ram and one slot empty.
Disassembling & Assembling Ok...yes I have never serviced it or had it cleaned so maybe that could help. I was trying to save money and do it myself though. I can try re-installing OS. Also, mine is a slightly different model than the one in your video. It has 8 GB of RAM.
@@TheBulldoggboy21 I had the same issue, even after reinstall OS. Same issues I checked in task manager, it hangs when disk stays in 100%. And before reinstall OS my drives was showing corrupted. What to do now? Should I get new hard disk or just cleaning would work ?

1. It has M.2 SSD slot not NVME. 2. It can support 1TB SSD in M.2 And if you want to replace your Hard disk to SSD SATA then you can install till 2TB . 3. Your model has 8GB Ram solder on motherboard and 1slot empty for Ram. You can extend your laptop Ram till 16GB only 8+8=16GB.

My X505ZA has 8GB ram(4GB card, 4GB on motherboard). If I replace the 4GB DIMM with a 16GB, will I loose multichannel? Will I have a total of 20GB RAM? Another question.. Do you use Ubuntu or any other Linux? Have you had any freezing issues?... I have. I upgraded to Ubuntu 19.04, which has helped significantly, but I still get some freezing... not nearly as much though.
You can use multichannels very smoothly. This laptop extends till 20GB. Sorry I don't use Ubuntu or Linux. If you have any freezing issues you better install M.2 SSD you will get very good performance.
No bro. You won't get dual channel benefits out of your configuration. No doubt your RAM is now maxed to 16GB (NOT 20GB) but two things: 1. 16GB is overkill for this CPU 2. No you won't get dual channel benefits using that configuration. Fir dual channel to work in optimum you have to have 2 duplicate ram sticks. As you have a 16GB another 4GB stick they won't pair with one another.
For Asus x505za I purchased Kingston a400 m.2 sata SSD.when I opened laptop to install m.2 sata SSD I found that the Kingston SSD had 2 keys(notch) but the laptop slot had only one key(notch).? What should I do.? Can single key slot support dual key SSD?
Thanks for the video. It is helpful. But after I inserted 4Gb extended memory it can be detected in BIOS but Windows 10 won't start giving Preparing Automatic Repair message. Any ideas? Note: After removing extended memory Windows can start normally again.
Finally managed to upgrade RAM when using APACER brand. It turns out that the RAM brand really matters here. KINGSTON brand is not compatible at least with my model - AMD Ryzen 3. Note: 2400 frequency was not available so we tried to insert 2666 one (8 Gb). Working fine so far.

It can drive update issue also , For model number go to laptop officially website and enter your laptop serial number there you will get full details of your laptop internal part numbers.

Remove your laptop battery and power ON the laptop then attach the battery it will charge. If still it doesn't charge then replace the battery, you can get it from local computer shop or online Amazon from service center it would be expensive.
