The M.2 latch and the GPU button are AWESOME FEATURES I would want on my next MOBO whenever I build my next PC. My first MOBO was from Asus and because I never had issues or problems with it I went for them again and have only used Asus MOBO's especially since I use Corsair components for the RGB in my PC and being able to sync the MOBO and GPU lighting with the case fans and CPU coolers as well as my peripherals is a huge bonus

That integrated IO shield was an absolute pain when the inputs to the wi-fi 6 connectors became loose and I had to remove the wi-fi module.

100% we push to actually have 3 aRGB headers on most of the boards, very useful for RGB builds and easy to get more via the use of a low cost splitter.

anyone know if there's a way to remove the heatsink above the cpu? i see no screws and i tried lightly tugging it and there's no give.

You do not note the board, please refer to the manual or reach out to our service team. The manual will document which slots/heatsinks can be removed to access onboard PCIe NVMe M.2 SSD slots.

Love those added features. I have a question though Asus. I just RMA'd my Z690 Maximus Hero board because it had the backward capacitor, but I noticed it was a complete recall. After I get my credit from Newegg I was hoping to get the same board back. Will they be back? I would love to have that as my same build. I just received my DDR 5 today, so I have all components now except for the motherboard! I just hope the Hero comes back soon. Thank you, you guys rock. Always an Asus supporter!

It is a new feature and not present on all motherboards, check your manual and specifications for whether it features this new PCDIy centric feature.

Hello there I have the Asus x70 tough gaming motherboard. It has two m.2 sockets. One is supplied with the heat sink the other is not. I want to put a 2 TB in the socket that has the heat sink. Is it necessary to cover my MDOT to with the supplied heatsink ? Thanks Keith

@@ZAPATTUBE google it lots of people having same issues. I have x670e board but the z690 board are having same issues. I just change my gpu for a tuf 4090 and now it locks in place as intended. So it was the gpu at fault but the thing is , it was an asus tuf 6900 xt on an asus board. So its definitely a bad implementation. Also they updated the q release on their z790 line up so it must have not been really good.

Hello! Can you tell me, does your motherboard emit a squeak / whistle / whine in the VRM area (near the video card) under load? In simple words, coil whine. The whine is quite noticeable, it changes tone depending on the load, it is especially clearly noticeable when you start "heavy" games...

Hi bro can we use Cooler Master MWE 850 Gold V2 Psu With Asus z690 -A Lga 1700 MB. The above board requires two connectors to power the board. but this PSU has an 18pin connector and the Asus z690 required 24 pin connector and two 12 volts Eps 8pin connectors

Some of these features are nice but there better be normal fail safe ways of using the board still if these things break. As for picking a feature I like best eh hard to pick honestly.

Thanks for your feedback but the implementations have been tested to ensure durability and reliability and similar to prior implementations still can be affected by indirect or direct damage. Prior PCIe removal could have easily been compromised by physically damaging the Q-SLOT retention mechanism by physically damaging the clip not allowing for it to lock in place. Similar to Q-Latch you could have stripped the screw. In both these instances, the replacements are superior in reducing the likelihood of these types of issues so not only are they easier but less prone to possible damage. Thanks for your feedback.

Can somone elaborate on the 6pin power cable next to the front USB type c header on the board "next to the 24pin" and when and where you plug it on the psu, does it only make the front io type c charge at 60watt instead of 27?watt

If your motherboard features this header it is only needed for Quick Charge 4 support, it is not required.

I had an issue where my 64gb ram wasnt working. bc of the the model Corsair 32gb 3600Mhz c18 but 32 works fine. I thought this board was capable of 128. anyone willing to help me find a replacement RAM that will work up to 64GB ram ? thanks you.

Ensure you have updated your UEFI BIOS and also that ideally you target 2 DIMM kits which you can find up 64GB configurations. If you want 128GB you can take two kits of memory ( mix ) them as there are no 4 DIMM kits on the market but you will need to manually set the operating parameters as the XMP profile will not work and the Intel memory controller/chipset does not support operating at the same speeds as with 4 DIMM as it does 2 DIMMs. If you want the highest level of likelihood at ensuring stability and interoperability target 4800/5200MT kits.

Please don't try to sell the Q-LED as a feature. Asus took the post code readout from us to replace it with LEDs like boards had in 2010 and have the balls to sell it as a feature. Every board should have a post code readout now. It costs nearly nothing to implement yet is kept for only the highest end boards.

QLED is a feature as debugs have never been a standardized feature on boards, it is preferred to have some form of debug visibility as opposed to none. That being noted neither are "perfect" as they will not be always accurate in providing information regarding an issue with POST. In some cases both can lead users to incorrect debugging. An example is memory training or IMC based issues which are trigged as a memory code when the limiting factor may be the users DRAM settings or the IMC not supporting the operating parameters/profile of the DIMM. We have also recently implemented an even more useful version of QLED which offers more entry boards true usability of a debug as it is can be wired to the front panel LEDs allowing for LED visibility much more easily.

Asus recommend thermal pads thickness of 1.25 mm for my Maximus z690 extreme if replacing the original ones on the motherboard. I want to replace them with Grizzly minus 8 pad but they don't come in thickness of 1.25. Should I go with thickness of 1 mm/1.5 mm as these two sizes are the closest thickness Thermal Grizzly produce or should I go with the motherboard manufacturers recommendations?

There is no reason to replace them so I would not replace them also thickness also translate many times to viscosity so ideally you need to account for this as well. Good luck with whatever you decide.

@@ASUSUSA ok. I was just thinking I would receive cooler temperatures using Thermal grizzly minus 8 pads compared to stock pads..I'm not just talking shout Asus but every motherboard manufacturer. If I was to replace them woukd 1.5 mm thickness be OK??

The slot is a standard specification, if it does not seat correctly you have not installed it correctly or may have not something obstructing the path. In some situations your chassis slot alignment can chassis issues with installation you can verify this by removing the board and testing it externally. @@ASUSUSA Google search gpu won't seat strix z690. My buddy got it to finally seat by putting an extreme amount of pressure then manually flipping the lock up while pressing down.

@@iMurk903 same for me on brand new x670e -e. The gpu is perfectly seated and working fine but the latch does not look automatically. I have to use chop stick to manually lock it in place. I'm still debating if i should try and get replacement or rma but like you said a lot of people are having this issue. They updated their q release in their z790 line up.

This very much depends on the motherboard, you will also find boards with Thunderbolt have sometimes less ports due to ultra high speed IO hubs being used. That being noted you will find boards we have that feature 12 ports. More importantly speed of ports is a factor while a high number of ports is nice most would prefer a mix of high speed ports as much most boards no feature at least 7 to 9 rear ports with most being high speed USB.

Warranty on motherboards are 3 years? As it is a new technology is does have more limited availability than mature DDR4 which is also an option on Z690. bro I forgot to remove the CPU socket lever protector lga1700. the transparent tube which is on the lever latch. will there is damage or issues come? i have already installed the air cooler. will it be necessary to remove that tube?

There are many coolers that fit, you should based your selection not only on mechanical compatibility but cooling performance which is dependent on your CPU as well as your load.
