Such an intuitive layout! Keeping the EZ mode easy, and leaving the more advanced features off the main page. I also really appreciate how each section that you ran through almost illustrates an order of operations when setting up and getting familiar with a new BIOS. Ill bet it will save a lot of people a lot of headaches!

Update: I bought this board to run Linux. I installed Linux Mint 20.3 (based on Ubuntu 20.04) and using the Linux 5.4 kernel. The onboard WiFi worked fine but NOT Bluetooth. I just updated to Linux Mint 21, newly released, and it DOES SUPPORT the onboard Bluetooth + WiFi. Win 11 also had the drivers for WiFi + BT.

Thank you JJ! I wasn't able to install Windows while Intel Rapid Storage was enabled. Shut it off, and it's purring like a kitten. Side note, two IT Directors couldn't figure this out. They thought Windows was looking for the driver for my SSD. You may want to consider something to alert people this better.

What is your question? If you have issues consider reaching out to our service team or join our PCDIY group. The difference in the reading on the screen is resident to a different configuration which was not applicable at the point in the video. The default is RST disabled so if you install a PCIe NVMe M.2 SSD it will default to standard ( non RAID ) drive configuration.

I have a problem with my ProArt Z690 - Creator bios. I cannot boot from a disk that doesn't have an EFI-partition and I don't want to reformat my Ubuntu disks (quite recently installed) . In what video do you explain the secure boot and CSM settings? Under secure boot OS Type is set to other and there is not option to enable/disable secure boot, and CSM cannot be enabled. The whole region on that subject is grayed out and read only. I cannot even click on the dropdown box to see the options. How to disable UEFI boot or enable CSM? (Update) It seems that when you want to use the integrated graphics of the Intel cpu, which is sufficient for me, you are forced to use EFI boot! This is crazy! I don't want to buy a graphics card just for that. Nothing about that in the product manual of specs, which are normally used to design the pc you want to build.

Ensure you have updated your UEFI and also ensure you have the memory installed in the correct slots, you also may want to read our DDR5 insights post in our PCDIY group to better understand if your issue is based on IMC variance as some users purchase kits without understanding the variance amongst IMCs that can affect support for higher MT kits.

SP rating is part of AiOC only AiOC enabled motherboard support this but the community uses this rating many times incorrectly it is part of an internal sampling of information alongside data that the board collects to determine the OC profile applied by AiOC.

Long(er) post time is normal especially if you are running higher memory density and or overclocks and have a number of used buses. For the fastest POST you should ensure your system is set up in non CSM mode beyond this you can test if some USB or storage devices may be affecting your POST by removing those devices.

Join our PCDIY group and ensure you reach out to service and support. 1. Load UEFI defaults and confirm f you can duplicate your issue at full F5 defaults 2. If you are using a riser remove the riser cable, also ensure all your drivers are fully seated if using M.2 SSDs and consider removing other drives and only having 1 for testing. Once you load UEFI defaults run a stability test like OCCT on each core component. Also consider with high-end GPUs you can have issues, especially at POST with peak transient power draw, and may need to change/upgrade your PSU. The current PSU you are using is not ideal for your high-end configuration. Good luck with your build.

@ASUSUSA
@ASUSUSA 2 года назад
Ensure you have physically installed it correctly and check you manual as depending on the slot you may not see the drive listed. For instance if looking at storage listing which show only SATA it will not show a PCIe NVMe based SSD you would need to go to the sub field to see PCIe NVMe storage devices. Once you complete a Windows installation then the drive will be registered under a bootable volume.

@ASUSUSA
@ASUSUSA Год назад
This is a non traditional config you should reach out to service and support for both your add in card and ASUS to report and attempt to debug. You may also want to see if you can duplicate your issue without RAID. It is unlikely it is related to power management and more like resource allocation or the ROM of the add in card. If you have not also update your UEFI and your MEI firmware but keep in mind software RAIDs are not ideal for general users and if the PCH firmware is update your volume will not be bootable.

Post and Boot are two separate things and can be affected by a wide range of factors including overclocking, the number of connected devices, and the complexity of the board and build. The value you have not is not out of the norm. Your post does not provide much information but assuming you are running only two DIMMS you should ensure you have updated your UEFI to the latest official release and also ensure you have installed the memory in the correct banks ( A2/B2 ). While overclocking is not guaranteed if you are running two DIMMS as the items are followed above you should be able to enable XMP to achieve the rated operating parameters of your DRAM kit. If you find you are still looking for insight or support consider joining our PCDIY group or reach out to service and support team.

why i cant enable XMP, i have ddr5 6000mhz memory and they only work 4500mhz, if i turn on xmp windows dont start, starts in the bios again and again, can someone have the solution?
@ASUSUSA
@ASUSUSA 2 года назад
It is most likely due to you having a mixed kit, you can only potentially run 6000MT in 2 DIMM configurations. You should update your UEFI, load UEFI defaults, test your memory via the integrated test tool and then if it passes proceed to enable XMP with 2 DIMMs. If it still fails it is more likely due to the IMC being limited so you should drop the memory divider and target a lower value like 5800/5600. If you want more guidance join our PCDIY group.

i worked so hard to get my BIOS tweaked right and i notice there is a newer BIOS available on your website, should I update the BIOS, and if so, will I lose all my settings? (ROG STRIX "E" z690 ddr5 w/12900K)......I will be putting in the 13900K into that same mobo once it arrives. Or should i not update the BIOS? my G-Skill 6000Mhz RAM acted funny when i first built this PC, the MOBO kept wanting to use 4800 as the speed of the RAM, and I would get some instability if I tried to set the MOBO to 6000MHz, , what speed should I use for that DDR5 G-Skill RGB 6000Mhz DDR5 RAM? Thank you SO much for all you do!!!
@ASUSUSA
@ASUSUSA Год назад
4800 is normal as that is the default, you will only run 6000MT if you enable XMP and applicable to two DIMMs. You do not need to update the UEFI BIOS unless you upgrade to 13th Gen which is you do the update is required and will reset all of your UEFI parameters. If you have more questions join our PCDIY group or reach out to our service and support team. In regards to speed it is up to you based on performance you want and use case and budget. 6000MT is a good target but is conservative for overclocking on 13th Gen series CPUs.

@@ASUSUSA Thank you very much, I reached out to ASUS support tonight and had a lot of success with them. 1st tech I worked with got me from the 4800 to a stable 6000 using the XMP-1 profile (which modified about 6 to 7 settings automatically thankfully) and is very stable and I could tell a difference in speed due to some screen tearing being eliminated in my game. Next we put the 12900K from Normal to AI Optimized in the EZ settings because i was noticing I was at 4900GHz. Now when I go into BIOS it says OVERCLOCKED 68% right below the ROG Strix logo splash screen, and is also stable and really helped my speed up to 5100GHz showing in BIOS and 5200GHz showing in Task Manager. 2nd Tech helped me update the BIOS, it did lose settings (they thought it would not, but you were right !!). I think I'm all good other than i can't run W11 because MSFS-2020 doesn't get along with it with my setup - I get CTD's. ASUS Rocks and thanks again for your help and direction !!

AiOC is not offered on -P model. You only have access to the basic OC which is moderate in its adjustment values. You can check these values via using Intel XTU and compare the values before/after. You can use a comparative benchmark to check performance ( Cinebench, Geekbench, Browser Bench )

How do I change display priority in BIOS? I want the DVI port on my video card to be main video output.
@ASUSUSA
@ASUSUSA 2 года назад
You cannot do that as your video has a pre defined primary display output wired into it's VBIOS. You can only set whether the motherboard defaults to onboard graphics or discrete graphics.
@wormnelandir

@@ASUSUSA strange though 'cause I bought new hardware, including the (ASUS) motherboard, but I kept me old video card and the primary output on the old board was DVI and now it's HDMI. In short, different primary output, same card, but different board 🤷

@@ASUSUSA i did reach out to the support team and they offered very simple troubleshooting help. i downloaded the SATA software on the asus support page and had to find the file to update it so windows could recognize my m.2 ssd. I wasn't ecstatic about the help i received but luckily I used critical thinking otherwise they wanted me to send in my entire motherboard after ive already installed it onto my case and connected all my wires and even mounted my heat sync and fan. Thank you for the advice but i ended up figuring it out. I did not have the option to partition because windows wouldnt recognize the ssd in the first place because it didnt have the most recent update.

Why don’t you make a solid BIOS update?? My ROG Strix Z690-A Gamin WI-FI D4 can’t be stable with XMP profiles. REALLY would be nice since I was very excited to go from MSI motherboards to ASUS, yet it has literally been nothing but trouble. Every time I enable XMP, it’s stuck in a boot loop, constantly restarting in the middle of POST.

@@LucCodeZ Exactly. ASUS has had awesome and top notch boards & BIOS over the last few generations, yet they are COMPLETELY ignoring the loads of stability issues regarding their Z690 boards, released 4 BIOS updates for the ROG Strix Z690-A yet it still is not stable. All the update version list "System Improvements & Memory Stability" yet not a single one can even get past POST when having XMP I or II enabled.

I managed to get it running on XMP 1. Although just with 2 DIMMs. In other cases for people it seemed to help setting the dram settings manually to the desired speed and latency.

@@LucCodeZ Are you on their latest BIOS version? I'm in a boot loop/constant restarting and not able to get through post when having either XMP profile applied. I haven't tried manual, and setting the speed & timings & voltage manually. Although XMP just sets it at what I would set it. I'll give that a shot and see.

The UEFI is very solid, mature for DDR. Considering email support with more details or join or PCDIY group. In most cases issues with XMP are due to 1. kit mis configuration and mis application of XMP ( trying to use a 2 DIMM profile on 4 DIMMs ) 2. lack of understanding of memory divider "holes" that exist as part of the platform and defined by MRC/IMC, this commonly occurs when users try to manually set gear ratios and use XMP 3. lack of understanding limitations of IMC relative to rank/density and frequency. An example is not all CPUs will support X frequencies in 4 DIMMs vs 2 DIMMs. This is type of issue increases as you scale up memory frequencies and fine that less CPUs can support operating at X frequencies.

I just upgraded my CPU, which in turn made me upgrade my motherboard. I'm using a B560-PLUS. The "issue" I've been having is that I cannot enable Intel RST. If I do, Windows never boots and I'm stuck in a boot loop until I disable IRST. I know IRST is not necessary, but I had it enabled before my upgrade and I am just wondering why I can't enable it anymore. Any ideas what might be the issue?
@ASUSUSA
@ASUSUSA 2 года назад
You cannot enable RST after the fact, you would need to have installed Windows with RST as the operating protocol for your storage device and installed the corresponding driver during Windows installation.
@Slayer-Knight
@Slayer-Knight 2 года назад
@@ASUSUSA Thanks a lot for the reply. However this wouldn't really apply to my case, given that before my upgrade I already had Windows installed and IRST was running. It was until after my component upgrade that I cannot get IRST to run, even though it was running before the upgrade. When I entered the BIOS for the new motherboard, IRST was now disabled, and if I try to enable it, Windows never gets to boot. Worth to mention that Windows is still booting from the same disk as it has always been. I didn't do a new Windows installation.

Hello. I would like to say that this the worst motherboard I ever bought in 40 year of computer consulting career. I installed 2 boards and each of them had fatal problems. The first one did not boot due to a bios error (1 long and three short beeps). I received another one and this on never showed an image on the monitor, no boot beep, and no post screens. I removed everything disks on the motherboard and kept 1 M.2 ssd. After turning the power switch a few times I reached the post screen and tried to install Windows 11. BSOD 3 times. I repeated the boot process 4 times again before getting the post screen. I finally succeeded to install windows 10. Then I installed a 1TB SSD and rebooted. The Post screen just apperead and went directly in windows 10. I turned off the PC and started pressing the delete key right away and finally enter the bios screen. I tried installing Debian 10 and on the login screen, the keyboard did not work. I tried installing Another Linux (Cachy OS) and the linux failed every time I tried doing updated. I also got a BLUETOOTH not found error on linux boot. And that’s only the half of it caught on video. So, can you tell me what is wrong to fix or just tell me what motherboard to buy not to get another worst experience of my life.

Please reach out to our service and support team for assistance, you may have other components or hardware causing an issue as well. Our apologies the experience has not been as seamless as you hoped for. Look to verify items like No CPU socket damage/pin damage. You have only two DIMMS installed in the correct banks. Reference the QLED diagnostic LEDs and see if they are locked on any specific component. Ensure you have updated the UEFI and are not attempting to operate the system with any overclocking parameters. Eliminate problematic items like riser cables if you are using one and only using the iGPU to first validate the board, CPU and memory posting. You can also leverage the integrated Memtest found in the UEFI BIOS. Again if you need further support consider reaching out to our service and support team or consider posting your issue in our PCDIY group and use the support template for community feedback. Thanks for your patience and understanding.

Do keep in mind depending on the DRAM kit you selected and the quality of your IMC you may not be able to utilize XMP.
