Asylum crisis in Belgium: A symptom of failing European migration policies? 

It's easy for those in comfortable places of the world to judge. I think when you get to the basic human instinctual survival mode you will do whatever possible to get you and your family to safety. That said, I believe a large-scale network of development of poorer nations is the only way to fix this. I've even seen hardline nationalists say this, because it's one of the ways to keep migrants out for good.

Correct. These are likely the last years of Europe as we used to know it. Europeans show no will to preserve and protect their own identity so they will be replaced by people of other cultures, they'll just dissolve among the newcomers. One must be blind not see it. Personally, I think people simply gave up - just another sign of European spiritual misery. So maybe it's good they'll be replaced. Finally, these newcomers could be absorbed even in their millions but only by dynamic and morally strong societies with clear visions. Europe these days is all but that.

Sorry not all asian countries are expecting freebies Maybe countries that had failed economies like pakistan afghan nd sri lanka might expect too much from Europe But we Indians don’t expect in return we are paying 50% nd 33% tax as couple in DE. Uk law states that asylum seekers can travel through safe countries and they can also travel on false passports as well! I know that they aren't genuine but they are well versed on what to say!

Theoretically yes. But the West gives plenty of money unconditionally to these countries, even ones that have space programmes or fund terrorism, in a manner that doesn't benefit the people of those countries. The aim isn't to improve their lives, it is to worsen ours. So we are all the same, poor, divided and easier to control.

I am from Belgium and every year I went to a big market on Sunday at Brussels, sometimes twice a year. Now I don't dear anymore. I went there with the train, it's now the most dangerous place of Belgium. You can be violently been robbed from the moment you arrive there. A lot of crack addicts there that wants to have a new dose as soon as possible so they need money and they rob tourists. It's in Brussel-South.

I am a staunch LIBERAL, but I sympathize with Europeans who want stricter immigration policies. Lax immigration is not working for Europe. The clash of cultures is too strong.

@@carolinavarela1572 Simple. To allow an application for a legal status only in our embassies. This would solve two things. First, the migrants can have an answer on their application in their home country, so they're not obligated anymore to pay vast amounts of money to human traffikers before they can apply. And secondly, it would make coming to the EU completely useless since the application can only be handled in our embassies. And that's the end of such problems.

They all want to head to the UK actually. In the last years there were news about the ones trying to cross the canal with a boat or hiding in the trucks (via Eurotunnel). They are somehow kept in some train stations or parks but they all want to end up in the UK.

@@crystalward2451 well the migrants who were rescued by the English and had to wait for more than 2 days in a processing centre called Marston sued and won compensation. The illegal migrants were sent to a army barracks in Wales tried to burn down the troops barrack as they complained that it was not what they are used to. They demanded and got 4 to 5 star hotels. They did not like the food as it had to be halal too
