Robert Barisford Brown, widely known as Bobby Brown, was born on February 5, 1969, in Boston, Massachusetts. Growing up in the Roxbury neighborhood, Brown faced numerous challenges from a young age. Raised in a rough area with high crime rates and limited resources, he witnessed firsthand the harsh realities of urban life. Despite these adversities, Brown's passion for music shone brightly.
His musical journey began at the age of three when he joined the church choir. Inspired by James Brown, his childhood idol, Bobby dreamt of a life filled with music. His parents, Herbert and Carole Brown, supported his passion, and by the time he was a teenager, he had formed a vocal group called New Edition with his friends Michael Bivins, Ricky Bell, Ralph Tresvant, and Ronnie DeVoe.
