As a child actor, Ron Howard never sounded like a dumb little kid reciting lines. Can we take a moment to appreciate how verbally talented he was compared to other child actors? He articulated his lines so perfectly and seemed very intelligent by the way he spoke. That verbal talent has served him well throughout his long career in the biz!

Grew up watching this and at 54 I am still watching it every day! I have the Andy Griffith trivia game… and can beat anyone! I know every single episode and each character. It is my all time favorite show! It’s when TV was worth watching and always had a great message and loads of laughter along the way… mixed in with a few tears at times. It was the one show our whole family loved and enjoyed together. I now have 2 grown children and they also grew up with this show… it’s truly a timeless classic. Thanks for all the laughs through the years! And being a native of NC (Charlotte) made it all the more special… All those sayings and the southern talk made it more than just a show and characters…. They seemed more like extended family! 📺🍿📽🎬🏡 🎣 🐟🔫⚖️🚔🚓👨‍✈️👨‍✈️🪕🎶💙

That's sad to hear that he wasn't happy about being a child actor, being that he was so great at it. We still love the two most memorable characters he played, Opie and Richie. And as for all the other hats he wore, we will never forget Ron Howard!!!❤❤❤

Every time I have read about Andy and Ron , Howard says ‘he was all business.’ Don did not quit, his contract was up and he signed a 3 picture movie deal. He stated he was flabbergasted when Andy called him back for another year! He had always told Don that they were working for 5 years only.

My mom used to cut men's hair in the 60's through the 80's. She told me that where she worked, Andy Griffith went there to get his hair cut. She told me there was a young black boy there who shined the clients shoes. My mom told me that Andy Griffith was very rude, and very mean to the little boy. My mom said, she was very disappointed on seeing that and never liked him again after that.

"Aunt Bea" Bavier always ticked me off. She's one of these people who went from zero to famous because of one single role, then all they do is scream and protest that the role was somehow holding them back or making their lives difficult. I feel like people should shut up and be grateful for what that show or role has done for them, instead of getting a swelled head.

Andy Griffith was a lovable public persona and a very good actor. My favorite movie of his is "A Face In The Crowd", with co-star Patricia Neal. Anybody who likes him should try to see the film. Although it was a fictional show, the actors were examples of the realities of humanity. For decades the open secret in Hollywood was that Frances Bavier was a lesbian & Jim Nabors was gay. During 1960s America the show never could have had Queer Aunt Bee & Gay Gomer. Nowadays, maybe Mayberry would be different.

The show was worth watching for for Don Knotts, but I have a real problem with the underlying racism that meant that the show depicted Mayberry as being unrealistically white. It is like my own parents who would complain if they saw anyone not white, anyone gay, or anyone Jewish. They thought life was much "better" when there were "no" gay people, and black people lived in shanty houses outside town. A lot of people have nostalgia for that unrealistically perfect Mayberry, but it was only fabulous so long as you weren't black, or Asian, or gay, or Jewish, or Moslem. I had fights with my father over that sort of thing until he died in old age. Such a shame.

I almost never watched The Andy Griffith Show. In the 1980s i was absolutely hooked on the famous long running radio show, "A Prairie Home Companion" about "Lake Wobegon", a fictional small town in Minnesota. It was always really funny. If i started watching this TV comedy, i'd certainly get hooked too. Also, in the 70s to 80s, i had a 1967 Ford Galaxy 500. It was a gas hog.
