I'm sorry this isn't a character theme, BUT I COULDN'T RESIST
I wanted to take a break from working on Kairi and Aqua's themes, so I searched around for a new song to do. I'm currently replaying 358/2 Days and I've just been overwhelmed with these feels for Axel and Roxas all over again. I love them so much, as individual characters, and as a pair.
I did write these lyrics as an Akuroku shipper, but even if you don't see them in that way, they're still best friends at the end of it all. Their story is so tragic and it breaks my heart over and over again and I just love them and want them to be happy jkdslg;
I also wrote this in Axel's POV since he's the only one still around...sOB

In the game I never had the heart to fight him... I died 5 times because I felt so bad for him! All he wants is his best friend back.... You can call me a wimp, but to see how broken Axel was is just too much... Even though he's a Nobody, you can see he still has feelings inside of him.

Nobodies can develop their own hearts (souls, basically) if they are aware they can, and since Roxas always theorized about Nobodies having hearts around them, it's plausable to say that Axel developed a heart like Roxas did.

+Raul RP Doesn't change the fact that he hasn't been a good friend to him, Saix/Isa was jealous because Axel/Lea prefers his friendship with Roxas because their friendship wasnt like theirs. When he said "Which would you rather suffer the loss of? some made believe friendship or a real one?" He was talking about Roxas not Xion. He clearly wanted him gone no questions asked.

From what I can tell in BBS, Isa the human was a stone-faced guy with good intentions. When you take that and translate that into a Nobody, it's not that hard to see how you'd get an asshole, whereas Lea is a lot more expressive so Axel had more to go off of. In DDD it's said that Nobodies grow hearts over time, so the two of them spent like eight or nine years with neither of them having any will to continue their friendship. All of a sudden they both start to be able to feel feelings again, but now Axel has new friends and they haven't been friends for so long trying to fix their friendship would be really awkward. Also this is happening way slower for Saix so he hasn't gotten the feeling that tells you not to kill people to get your friends back yet.

The situation with Roxas and Axel always makes me so sad... I felt bad for Axel cuz he was somewhat being forced to hurt the only person who 'made him feel like he had a heart'. And I feel bad for Roxas because he began to feel like Axel was hiding stuff from him- which he was, but he was being forced to... And Xion... she was just sorta there (lol)

KeeveeGF Nope. Pretty sure Saix meant Isa and Lea's relationship vs Axel, Xion and Roxas. That's why the manipulative bastard called him 'Lea' at the time for effect. The relationship between Lea and Saix as Nobodies is basically Axel being his errand boy and helping him in his ambitions, probably with the idea that Saix has all the plans figured out. Saix doesn't realise how emotions work for Nobodies, but that was his attempt at emotionally manipulating Axel, or maybe he thought that was somehow a logical choice he set out. I don't really get how you can see it any other way.

Hardcore akrk shipper here. Went through the whole KH series for the first time a couple months ago (I'm super late to the party, I know). I love these lyrics sooo much they're so perfect. You've given me the image of Axel going to the clocktower alone to eat ice cream during the time Roxas was inside Sora and falling asleep up there once and dreaming that Roxas was by his side, and then waking up and realizing it was just a dream. Maximum emotional damage of the BEST kind. Thank you for the worms. I'm totally not writing a fic about it right now as we speak!! :'D

@@eskkay9346 Axel's age was never really confirm. Aqua and Terra were confirm to be 18 and they look like their in their 20's. Not to mention Riku about the same hight as Axel and we know he's a teenager. So I think Axel could be a bit older then Roxas but not to old where it's creepy.

this is one of my favorite songs from your kh song series they're all amazing but the tone this one has is beautiful and as it soon transfers into sadness it gets deeper revealing more before transitioning off and does it incredibly and you can see how the character took the lost of his best friend and will never truly move on

Simply wonderful, I just recently finally got my copy of the 1.5 remix, and have been playing through all my games again. All your renditions of these songs are definitely within my playlists to listen to while running between cutscene sections. I hope for Axel/Lea's sake that we somehow get Roxas and Xion back, they teased us with both in Dream Drop Distance, and by far the little trio from 358/2 days is my favorite group of characters throughout the whole series. I'm so anxious to see them all on the clock tower again when i get to watching the hd cutscenes while I play along on my 3ds

Nothing suggests anything other than what is assured to us from the source material and yet you can interpret many other thoughts from the song. Maybe it's stating the obvious, but I think the reason this song and Axel's story resonates so deeply is because we've all lost someone (and likely more than one). Whether they be a friend, family member, lover, or even a pet, to live is to know loss. It doesn't necessarily have to be by death, either, you can also mourn the loss of someone due to moving, breaking up, or simply drifting apart. I miss my old friends from childhood and adolescence, whom I don't talk to much or at all anymore and have drifted apart from. I miss a family friend that was more of a grandmother to me than either of my real grandmothers (may she rest in peace). I miss all the pets that I've had and that've sadly passed away because animals (with a few exceptions) don't live as long as humans do. I still think of them all from time to time, and I pray someday we will be reunited in a place where time, distance, and death do not exist. You never know what you have until it's gone, so cherish your loved ones as much as possible for the duration of time you are with them. And don't be like me and allow relationships to wither because you failed to make frequent enough contact.

I adore this, because even if you don't ship it you can still admire the close bond the two characters have, and this just makes my heart hurt thinking that they were so close and are separated. I personally don't care about gender, I love Axel/Roxas because they have good chemistry, and this song just reminds me why I love them and the game. Wonderful job. ;w;

I don't really ship Akuroku because I don't tend to pair same-sex characters. It's not that I don't support those pairings, it's just that I can't really imagine them too well and I don't think I would ever be able to do them any justice. Guy/guy, girl/girl, doesn't really matter, they're both OK, I just can't really do them well, that's all (but that's what fan-girls are for....please don't kill me ladies!). Anyway, I do tend to see Axel and Roxas as best friends but nothing more, but that is more than enough for this song to work. These lyrics seem to fit the platonic best-friendship theme perfectly and I would consider this to be the closest thing to Axel/Lea's theme, considering how he doesn't seem to officially have one yet. Thank you for making this one Lizz! I think this may have been one of the songs I was asking about, but even if it wasn't, thank you all the same! Now we have the entire Days trio completed! ^^
