When my sister sold her flat in Bounds Green we set staged it so much !. Fancy magazines, nice bottles of wine, posh toiletries ( borrowed) think Chanel. She had 3 people who wanted it they could only see the lifestyle. She got 40,000 more than her neighbour similar flat who did not set stage.

Reassessing my plans once in a while, I find, brings clarity. It helps me reorient towards advantageous situations and better solutions. Good pivot, Vivi. Keeping my toes & fingers crossed. Such exciting times ahead!

I volunteered with a literacy group several years ago. I went through training and they had workbooks for the adult students. It is eye opening. A lot of them have really good memories. Think about driving in a strange place and not being able to read road signs (before GPS). Someone may tell them how to get somewhere and they would remember. They also knew how to ask for help without admitting they couldn’t read. Amazing!

Great news that you have been able and willing to adapt to a slight change of plan to take account the late(r) lavender harvest. Fingers crossed that all goes well now, but it will be a roller-coaster of excitement/trepidation/tiredness until you are in your new home. I know you have many fans rooting for you and looking forward to the next chapter of What Vivi did next. I'm struggling with my knees at the moment too - actually most of my joints and I think it's the change in weather in my case - so I'm hobbling round my little bungalow with my stick which I normally only use outdoors. I rely quite a lot on online shopping and luckily haven't had any problems but I know others do. I think I will try your courgette and potato soup soon as autumn seems to have arrived with a vengeance and I'm already getting my thermals out and checked ready to go.

Hi Vivi. I feel with you with postal or courier services. I recently bought a sofa bed online. I was very careful to read when they delivered, as I made an optomitrist appointment to have my eyes checked. It said expected delivery in 2 weeks. The next day, I got a message that my sofabed was sent off by courier. I frantically tried to find out if I could delay or get a time. I was told the delivery guy will contact me to arrange delivery time. I was waiting with my phone close by. Worried that I would have to leave home, and then they deliver while I was out. About an hour before my appointment, a truck stopped in front of my door. It was the delivery man with the sofa bed. He never contacted me to arrange time, just came. I guess if I was not home, they'd just leave it at my front door and take a picture as proof they delivered. Then it can be rained on or stolen. I am glad I was here, but I'm just a bit annoyed at not knowing when delivery was actually going to happen.

Yay for you! Your excitement is contagious. I'm cheering you on from New Zealand and hoping everything falls nicely into place. Your house buying/selling system is a nightmare. I love watching Location Location Location and regularly see where one or the other has pulled out last minute. I'm not sure I could deal with that 3ish months of uncertainty. It makes me realise how lucky we are here. We put in an offer. When it gets accepted a date is set to go unconditional, just to allow time to get building reports etc, and those can usually be done in a week or two. If everything is ok with the reports it goes unconditional and then the sale is locked in for both the seller and the buyer and everyone breathes a big sigh of relief. I thought that 1-2 weeks was stressful enough. But three months!!😩😩😩

I hope you have a lovely evening and have a meal prepared as you have hurt your leg, feet up with a celebratory toast to new beginnings. I don't blame you, not going knocking on strangers' doors for parcels. They have a cheek telling you to do that. I wouldn't do it.

They should just send you another one expedited shipping and when they retrieve the other one, they should keep it.

Hi Vivi, i was worried that my flat wouldn't sell. It was one of the few flats in my block without central heating and had electric wall heaters instead. I decorated it and made it look as fresh as possible as you've done with yours. Though I don't quite have your flair and I didn't go to as much trouble. To my amazement, it sold in a day for more than I was expecting. Your flat is delightful, airy, light and inviting. It's in a well connected and popular area too. All these things make a big difference. I'll keep my fingers crossed for you. I sold my place in the autumn btw.

recently i was buying something small in a shopping centre. a young guy didn't know how to handle cash. he was used to everyone swiping the card. He had really hard time to count how much he has to give back. The computers tells him the amount, he had trouble counting the change. Not disadvantaged in any way, just a normal young guy. Sitting in his phone, he barely noticed that I wanted to buy something in the first place. I saw a video where young people in US can't say what time it is looking at a normal clock

The onus is on the delivery company to redeliver to the correct address, not for you - the customer who's been let down - to fix things. If not, they should resend, for sure. You might get it cheaper in an actual shop though, if that's what you need to do in the end. What an utter frustration.

In the US the byer has to put so much down when there offer is excepted could be 10% of the selling price and if they back out you keep the deposit so not too many people back out of buying

Vivi, I have 2 degrees and had to do delivery driving. It's not straight cut and certainly not about not being able to read or write. These roads are not straightforward. I can tell you more if you like. These poor people are being exploited.

Oh, you would be a wonderful literacy teacher for adults, Vivi! You must pursue that! And I could watch and listen to rain for hours (only slightly exaggerating here!) or an open fire. And I agree with you about doing some extra zhushing and polishing and tweaking of details - who knows, a little bit of effort might mean a few thousands more in YOUR pocket! All the very best. It is both stressful and exciting.

Allow yourself to get super excited and giddy! If things fall through then you say aww never mind and you get the chance to get excited all over again..

I have lived here for almost 10 years now, but always say I never complain, just state! After living in Chicago area for over 25 years of brutal Chicago winters. We were in your similar boat last year at this very time. Trying to sell our little condo, having to get out for showings within an hours notice, packing up and storing a lot of our things to make the place look bigger. Finally after over 15 showings and Open Houses every weekend , we sold! Blessings and Godspeed to you! We are loving our new home, own fenced in yard, and enjoying it all so much. Oh my goodness! I am so feeling your pain right now. I’ve been watching your channel for a few years now I think (gosh how time flies eh?) - I’m just a few years younger than you although there are days where I don’t feel a day over 92 and that’s just with one flight of stairs and no issues with my knee, just purely getting old issues 😂 - We have moved 7 or 8 times over the last 30 odd years and I can’t remember a move where it wasn’t stressful but it doesn’t help when you’re pretty much dealing with everything yourself and you are absolutely (hats off to you! 😊) - Our last move (3 years ago) was because I was really struggling with the loss of my father who lived with us and who I cared for and I just felt I had to start afresh. We had spoke about moving again from here to somewhere more suited to our future to come but boy are houses soooo expensive! - And for as much as our house has increased in value, so has everyone else’s! - So staying put for now and making alterations where we can. Slippy decking in the winter ain’t fun! 😂 - But I digress…I really wanted to wish you all the best for your move, fingers crossed it all goes as smoothly as possible. You’ve been through so much over the last year or so but you come across as a lovely strong lady who just deserves the absolute best…with no more stairs! I got the foot of my better leg wrapped up in the sheet one recent night and twisted that knee. Oh, it was so painful. The other leg has a knee that barely works on a good day. It took a few days of applying Voltaren gel and using an elastic bandage to get the twisted knee back in order. Hope yours is better very soon.

I could see you in a little bungalow with a garden if you left London. As someone who has moved areas and countries often, I could live anywhere, it’s not that scary, honest! Flats scare me as I’m not very good with noise, and every flat I’ve ever been in you hear the neighbours. I’m used to hearing a pin drop outside of a night, no main road near by… I hope you sell quickly and find your next home that you can be happy in.

I can't imagine having such nice looking squash plants. Vine borers always kill my plants before long. My last 8 ball zucchini plant survived their attack but it was the only one. I only got one butternut this year because of them.

These are exactly the same as my experiences with ordering things and similar. Literally if anything can go wrong they will. They might not be major in themselves but the accumulation of lots of them can be really infuriating. Whether it's ordering prescriptions or ordering things online, booking repairs appointments etc etc. I try to be calm and patient and like to think I'm a polite person but sometimes even I feel like physically headbutting a wall 😂 especially when friends or family have perhaps ordered or done the exact same thing and never seem to have problems. As I'm writing this I'm getting ready to go to my gp's surgery to sort out a prescription I ordered last week but hasn't arrived and upon checking online it just says rejected, ok so I'm just supposed to go without heart medication that's keeping me alive because your system has obviously made a mistake. Last fortnight I ordered a new chair for my living room, a box arrived with the base of the chair in but not the top back section or arms, I contacted the company and after lots of faff found out they'd delivered the missing parts in a separate box to someone in a different village who has the same name as me who as it turns out happens to be my fathers cousin but I don't really know. It all turns out alright in the end but God it's bloody infuriating when it's constantly happening I swear I'm cursed sometimes 😂 rant over lol X

Dried lavender sticks are good cake dough testers. Maybe someone would buy them on your shoppe? I don't bake but Jessica on RU-vid channel Roots and Refuge uses and loves them.

I had to laugh, whilst watching you trying to find the courgettes, I had classic FM on in the background and the Fantasia was playing…. V appropriate whilst you were hunting!!

Similar thing happened to me. I waited in all day for an engineer who went to the wrong address even though I gave detailed instructions on how to get there. He turned up at the same numbered property but different area. 🤦🏻

My mother had dementia & strokes & I had her in day care program, transport by health care bus. I get home no mom & then a phone call telling me I'm not home. I ask driver where he is gives me our address WRONG city. Funny now not then.

I hope your knee is chilling out. I heard from Fiona that the rains were absolutely intense. Knee pain is terrible and the barometric pressure can make the joints mad sometimes supposedly. I have had pain flares and inflammation flares with big weather changes. If all else fails maybe you can get a cortisone injection into the joint if it’s not a temporary injury and drags on too long.I know you know this so yeah will shush about it. Sending alll the calming zen energy your way while this big stressful time starts of showing and seeking your own property. I hope the place you looked at was a smashing success and your luck turns golden for an ultimate relief of letting go of those horrific many stairs. I don’t know how you endure that pain and hear you had to stay home and not use them for a few days. For me I have flares of my knee that needs to be replaced and some days my whole leg hurts and I get swelling above and below the joint. It’s miserable and walking and stairs is just not an option. I end up with a lot of time in bed and pushing hard through the pain when I have to but it increases my tremor and causes some increase in anxiety as a result. I wish you just had someone who could come help bring up loads for you and garbage down and that sort of thing. How you managed so much work is pure necessity I know but very brave. You didn’t go limp and cave in on life which many may do in your shoes. I’m so proud of you and what leaps and bounds you have made in preparing the property as well as still caring for your own basic needs with only one working leg. I’m crossing all of my body parts that cross for you to have a smooth and safe transition into a new lovely space to call your own. Even if you don’t fall in love with a new place, if it’s physically helpful you will love it into being a home that you will love. And one question about mobility, is a walker something that may help prevent further impact and rest the knee while getting around or is it too unwieldy? I know I need to use a walker when I have my knee surgery and am dreading both the complete no weight bearing and then the clunk of a walker in a small space. Add to it my ugly apartment carpet to make it even more of a challenge. lol I feel for you my dear and hope your rest and medicine, some ice and warmth will move that inflammation out of your leg. Gentle bending will help but it’s kinda excruciating. Remember you are loved and I’m sending a big fat huge hug during such an uncertain time with stupid pain on top of things. ❤here’s to a new home and some lovely mess making of lavender bags. Your house will smell amazing! Take care!

Blooming knees 🤬. I’ve had issues with DPD in the past who consider a parcel delivered if it’s within a 200 metre radius!!!!! I was non weight bearing and on crutches at the time. They suggested in walked around the neighbourhood looking for it….you can imagine my reply. Take care Vivi, sending big hugs. Xxxx
