The Drop is such a sleeper - absolute dramatic gold. One of those films like The Usual Suspects where every frame and every line delivers vital information. You just don't see the ending coming. It's bloody brilliant. I've rewatched this four times already.
Darren had such a perfect idea of what types of movie watchers will like which movies. He also really matches my taste in movies, so I know I'm going to like what I see
I must applaud this list. Me and wifey have watched 4 movies thus far from this list and enjoyed them all. The bronze, citizen x, headhunters, deadfall. We also watched safety not guaranteed recently which I got from a different list of Darrens. Keep up the great work.
Reality was insanely good. I knew all about the story before going into it but I loved how they filmed the movie as a thrille/drama. Creepy story. Really well done! Highly recommend it.
Jason Patric was phenomenal as the villain Max in a severely underrated movie called The Losers. That movie was incredible and I thought for sure there would be at least a couple of sequels.
I found this channel recently, I think you do a great service by recommending these movies, saves me a lot of time searching, plus you don't waste any time or spoil anything, great work, dude, thank you.
Great selection Darren. Bit of background on Animal Kingdom. It’s based on the real life intergenerational Australian crime family called the Pettingills. They were involved in an infamous ambush murder of two young policeman in Melbourne. Absolutely vile family. en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Pettingill_family Headhunters is a fantastic movie. I’m glad to see that you have put it at number one
Breach and Citizen X are both on my ALL-TIME list. Because you chose them, I'm diving in, head first, to 3 other films on your list. I don't usually do that but I do trust you. Thanks, Darren!
That was an excellent, insightful, powerhouse FLICK CONNECTION, Darren. Your delivery and research into each film is top notch. Many thanks for sharing with us. Much to be really excited about 💎💎💎
I took Darren’s advice and went straight to Headhunters, and he was soooo right! Phenomenal movie, I’m so glad I listened!!! Watched The Drop next and was also very impressed. Thanks for finding these gems!!!
From the 20 movies you have shown / recommended, i ve seen 10-12 of them already, and another 3-4 i already have on my imdb watchlist. We have similar taste my man.
Thanks for the great recommendations, "gems that people haven't seen" is a tough combo! I'm one of those "seen EVERYTHING" folks, and I've only seen 2 of these, both of which I agree with your thumbs-up for ('Hotel Artemis' and 'Narc').
You really do a great job. I am in the 90th percentile, when it comes to agreeing with your take on films or shows. What you do is remarkable and how you do it is what keeps me coming back for every “next one” Thanks DVD
My List : - The Warning - Mirage - Your Son - The Invisible Guest - Locke - Fractured - The Captive - The Ritual - The Empty Man -Destroyer -Timecrimes -Vast of Night
Darren I picked 3 flicks from your last vid on Freevee. Sweet Country (favorite of the 3), Eden Lake, The Wailing. Had to watch a happy movie after all those downers!
I watched Headhunters tonight; what a great movie. I usually don’t like reading subtitles, but this movie is slow enough that it’s not bad at all. Well worth watching; I can see why it’s the number one pick on this list.
Breach is an excellent movie, I was on the edge of my chair the whole time, Chris Cooper was fantastic and terrifying. Also, I never saw the Drop, but listening to you it reminds me off 21 Bridges.
I loved Citizen X, subject matter aside, the acting, directing, screenplay were superb!!! To ME this was one of the few movies where you truly feel for a character and I mean all the way around, excellent, excellent choice!
LOVED Headhunters! I've watched it several times because it's that good. The acting is top notch and there are some scenes that are completely unexpected and outrageous - a thoroughly enjoyable film.
Wow. The Drop n Animal Kingdom r 2 of my favorites. Ben Mendelsohn is ridiculous as Andrew/Pope. I’ve passed on Headhunters so many times bc of subtitles. Will def check it out now.
The Jacket is fantastic! Kinda surprised it's not higher on the list. Citizen X is one of the best movies about serial killers. Most are shocked to find out that it was a made for TV. The story is so well crafted and acted. You really should watch it at least once in your life.
Love the cheesy "The Omega Man", but didn't know it was a remake! (not as big a fan of "I Am Legend") Happy to have seen a few of these films already, but looking forward to checking out most of the rest (Narc, Cadillac Man & Hotel Artemis definitely worth the time to watch). Flick Connection never seems to let me down.
The Jacket is a masterpiece. I was obsessed with it for nearly a year. Great film. Cadillac Man is low key one of Robin Williams' better movies. Hotel Artemis sounds like the vibe of Free Fire with Sharlto Copley. You intrigue me sir. This recommendation sounds right up my alley. The Omega Man was also remade into straight to Syfy movie I Am Omega with Mark Dacoscos. Blood, Guts, Bullets and Octane is Joe Carnahan's directorial debut. Incredible flick for very low budget. Maybe my favorite film of his after The A-Team, perhaps the best small screen to big screen effort ever, alongside Miami Vice.
I couldn't bring myself to pay more than _any_ other service to deal with the Max's app, and they're absolutely nuts if they think I'm paying for ADS ! 🤬🎬
Darren, where's the Top Pinned Comment with the full list? I always find it at the top, just like you say, PINNED but somehow, I can't seem to find it for this video. Otherwise, thx for this latest video; as always, great job!
Really glad I found this. Although gangster/crime films are my favorite genre it's been many years since I've seen one I really like. Already seen Narc and The Drop. Aside from that gonna watch them all.
Citizen X is one of the best movies that was ever made. It's perhaps Stephen Rea's best role of his career and has a basis in fact. Everyone in this movie was excellent, especially Jeffrey DeMunn, who is a very well-know face in film and television. Donald Sutherland is also excellent in his role.
I meant to say Jeffery DeMunn, who played the killer Andrei Chekatilov. After watching this movie I learned everything I could about the real case and how close the movie was to the true story.
Totally agree. If you've got Prime, give Child 44 a watch. Not based on this killer, but a similar concept. Tom Hardy stars as a KGB officer in post war Russia, just a really good movie. Gary oldman is in it too. Not as great as Citizen X, but still very watchable.
@@michelefrost734 Thanks, I've tried to watch it a couple of times and it seemed pretty good but always got sidetracked. I have to make a concerted effort to watch it. I saw Citizen X when it first came out, when I had a free trial of HBO with my cable provider. I enjoyed it so much I bought the VHS tape of it and almost wore it out. My son has it now, lol. In the movie, for me, the best line in the movie was when Donald Sutherland told Stephen Rea that the FBI contact in the US said that he would never want to have Stephen Rea's character after him. I'll have to watch Child 44, as I really like both Tom Hardy and Gary Oldman, two really good actors who have an amazing talent for acting. Have you ever watched Legend, the movie where Tom Hardy played the twin Kray Brothers, who were English criminals back in the early 60's ? He gives an unreal performance.
Not sure how I missed Narc, use to watch everything around that time. Another great movie I would recommend released a few years before with Ray Liotta is Phoenix.
U are the best! I watch all your videos even though I barely have time to watch the movies. I just always want to see what the list is and if we agree on the movies! 😅😅😅😅
