The greatest gift one can share with another is knowledge. Your instructor should be very proud of what you've become. Not only are you a first-class woodworker and restorer, but you, like your instructor, are sharing with your videos.
Thanks for giving us this little peek into your life. I’ve been a subscriber for quite a while and I have always been amazed at how clean you keep your shop. I know very little about woodworking and wish now that I had been hands on when watching my dad growing up because I find it fascinating. Even now, the smell of sawdust is very evocative. Your work is amazing and very satisfying to watch and your videos aren’t filled with annoying edits and music and other various nonsense that so many RU-vidrs seem to think are necessary. Your videos match your aesthetic: clean, simple and straightforward. I’m looking forward to your next project! ☺️
People, like myself, enjoy watching because your skill is so masterful and you don't cut corners. You always leave me in awe of your beautiful transformations.
I don't know why other people love your videos, but for me it is because you restore things and make them beautiful again. There is so much chaos and destruction in the world and it is very troubling. Watching you fix things and make them new and beautiful again gives me hope.
Thank you! I love this! Sometimes I wonder myself, why I, a 55 year old wife and mother of 8, like to sit here in Tennessee USA and watch an Estonian man restore furniture on RU-vid. I guess I just find it satisfying to see something old or broken restored to near perfect and I can escape my simple little life for a while. I took wood working for one year in school and I asked for an orbital sander for Christmas.
@@davids6533 Well, with 8 children, 4 still in the house, 2 that I am still homeschooling, a cleaning business and a husband, maybe "simple" wasn't a good choice of words. ;)
What a cool video! Thanks! It is nice to see 'behind the scene' as it were, and all of your tools. I'm not surprised that your videos have gone viral - you are a true craftsman and do amazing work. Even those of us who do not understand all the work behind the restoration can appreciate the skill behind it. Thank you so much for posting!
It's always a delight to watch a skilled craftsman at work. The restorations are beautiful and I learn a lot from watching. Thanks for the shop and equipment tour!
Let’s start with the end, of course, folks all over the world want to watch, your videos are concise and take us clearly through the process start to finish. Some the projects like the Biedermeier sofa look impossible and yet come out museum quality. I was surprised that through school you were able to study furniture making and restoration. Sadly, I don’t know of any such schools here in the US. When I was young, more then a few years ago we had trade schools and valued them. Your work is amazing and quite enjoyable to watch. Keep it up and thanks
You'll be pleased to know that such programs do still exist. A lot of them are found in relation to museum conservation programs, but there are also entry level training courses like the Furniture Academy in NC and Palomar College's (CA) Furniture Technology course. Period Furniture Conservation in NYC trains people with woodworking skills to go into conservation. (Art historian nerd here who knows these things exist from professional research interests. 🙂 )
Thank you for the grand tour of where you perform these miracle restorations. You are a very talented carpenter. Your instructor should be very proud of your accomplishments. You can also thank your employee for lamenting as it gave you a better workshop. Thanks again..
My dad taught industrial arts. As a young girl, he didn't invite me in his shop, plus I wasn't interested in those tools or sawdust! Now that he is gone, I am older and wiser. I wish I had just put on some coveralls, joined him at the table, and learned those extremely valuable skills. The new furniture is so cheaply made. I want to restore the better antiques for my home. I watch your videos for comfort, inspiration, and education. THANK YOU!
I just love watching your videos. So happy to have found this older one telling us about yourself. It's enthralling for me to watch you create stencils and recreate all the gorgeous things you do. Your talent is amazing and is a lost art in the US. Thank you for sharing your art and talent with us all.
I went to an industrial school called Kurikan Ammattioppilaitos (at the time it was called that, it changed since) in 95-97 and became a joiner. That school was and I guess it still is a friendship school with Tallinna Ehituskool. So in spring of 97 we visited Ehistuskool and stayd in Tallinna for a week. Two guys from Ehituskool spent some time in our school before that and they were our tourist guides in Tallinna and invited us to their homes too. It was a really fun trip and it was cool to see a little part of Estonia.
It is oddly satisfying to see old stuff get a new life. I think that, as we get older, we also need to transform ourselves and get a second lease in life. Regards from Seattle, USA.
Ahti, thank you for sharing a bit of your story and showing us more of the place where the magic happens through your expertise and creativity. I got a lump in my throat when you showed us the restoration of that Biedermeier sofa, it was so stunningly beautiful. I am grateful that you decided to film your work; it’s always so interesting and satisfying. I hope there will be many more years of fabulous restorations and videos to chronicle them.
Brilliant... Thank you for the insights from where your MASTERLY work comes from. I am 100% sure that many people viewing your work feel better after they see your completed project in each video that you put out. I say this because you said you were surprised that the Farm Table got so many views. Your work is therapeutic! I watch EVERY video you put up because I get to see a Master at work, the respect shown to old furniture by perfect and tasteful restoration and as I said above, "healing" to viewers. Please keep the videos coming.
I love you talent your attention to detail and I'm amazed by your collection of of tools but what I love the most is your kind words to a teacher who you respect best wishes Gaynor 🇬🇧 UK
I hadn't seen this video until today! This is great. It answers most of my questions about how you got to be where you are. I loved the photos of Young You, and I particularly appreciated seeing a photo of your teacher. You do him honor. It was good to "meet" your nachines, too. That table saw is amazing. Why am I so eager to watch your videos? It's because I love watching highly skilled people doing their work. I also watch videos about restoring paintings, restoring cars, landscaping, cooking, and even trimming cattle hoofs! It is so wonderful to see how people find something they love and do it WITH love. It is one of the most beautiful characteristics of human beings! Thank you for sharing your skill with us.
Thanks for giving us an opportunity to get to know you better! That Biedermeier sofa!!! This is why I watch--you are very talented and clearly care about the pieces you restore. I also enjoy your sense of humor. Keep on keeping on!
I enjoy watching furniture refinishing and you are the best craftsman I have found. Your skill and attention to details are really one of the best on RU-vid and you don't take shortcuts like many refinishers do. It's just a pleasure watching someone who is great at his work. Also, I enjoy your humor. Thank you for sharing a little bit about yourself. I hope the channel brings you much success.
Think you for this - I’ve become a huge fan and am so impressed by your work. I use videos to fight depression and watching something broken being made beautiful again works wonders. 😊
I always thought that you kept such a clean shop. I didn't need this video to prove it. But, thanks! Your skills speak for themselves. I am quite sure that your teacher thinks that you are the best student that he ever had. I know that a lot of your fans have said all of this, but I totally agree. Your work is impeccable, and the added bits of humor always make me laugh. You are super talented in so many ways.
Thank you so much for sharing your story. I always love to about the path people took, to where they are now in life. So creative to incorporate the cleaning (caressing) of the tools as you give us this tour! I love and cherish old things. I came to your channel to see the antiques. I stayed because watching your artistic talent just blows my mind! Thank you for the videos.
Ahti, all you equipment is fantastic, but without the magic in your hands it would be worthless, those tools are so lucky to be owned by and respected by you.😉🏴
Congratulations, Ahti! You do an incredible job and you are certainly a good and hardworking person. I admire your work and your videos enchant me! In my country, Brazil, I have never seen a restorer like you before. 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻
I know absolutely nothing about woodworking but I have a great love for 'old things', and I genuinely love your videos! Your work is stunning. It's nice to have a look behind the scenes also and your workshop is impeccable. Kudos to you, greetings from The Netherlands! 🇳🇱
What an outstanding shop, however is the owner that makes it. Your instructor should be always smiling, also he must have imparted humor , cause your vids make me smile and put me in a good mood. Ty for sharing.
What a nice surprise to see this video where you tell a little about how you became the best restorer in the world. I was touched by the mention of your teacher, who must be immensely proud of you. Your studio is very clean and organized, even with so much equipments. I also love your 50 clamps, hehe. Your academic background is very interesting and that is why it is very pleasant to see your videos, these tracks, such good humor and good taste. I'm running out of words to express my admiration for you. Your channel is wonderful! 👏🌷
Head uut aastat, Ahti!
Well I don't know how I didn't know about this channel! Been watching your other one for a year. So nice to hear your story! I think many people are interested to find out more about the people we admire on RU-vid 😊
That Biedermeier sofa is extraordinary. I hope that the video is still on your RU-vid channel. I’ll look for it. And thanks for the look inside your workshop. 😊
Thank you for sharing your story and work shop. Your videos bring me hours of learning and are relaxing to watch. You are amazing at what you can do with wood!
What an interesting man!! You are very talented with humility and a sense of humor ! That’s rare these days! I enjoy your videos and maybe even learn something too! Great video!
Ahti, I think you'll find the correct answer to the question, How many claps do I have? Is - not enough. 😉 Fantastic video my friend. Thank you for sharing your life's work with us. 🤠👌
That was great seeing your workshop and hearing your story. Really nice to know something about the person we are following on each video. You are a superb craftsman and a really good housekeeper (ha,ha,ha)
Very interesting story, my friend! Thank you for sharing with us! As to why we watch you, watching a master craftsman do amazing things is always very nice to watch. Thank you and keep up the great work!
Very interesting story! What I like most is that you restore furnitures to their orginal look, not painting them in some crazy colours and talk bulls**ts about contemporary design..;-) Really good work!
I want to express my respect to you. Your videos are inspired and very useful! I like your sense of humour and how you show the projects, with description and without extra information. I consider you my teacher. With your help I have fixed a stool with PVA. I new about it before but didn't trust🙂 It's amazing, but it's really works. And it's not all. I've also done some videos with furniture restoration for my friends also due to you. The format doesn't suite for RU-vid, but soon I'll solve this matter. Thank you!
Thank you for sharing this video with us. It was very informative. Your work has always been amazing to me. I watch your videos over and over again just because I love your restorations come to life once more. I never had the pleasure of watching your first videos. I can't see them that far back, not sure why. Thank you again for sharing. You are absolutely fantastic with your skills not to mention how funny you are. Love you and can hardly wait to see the next one.
Grazie! 😊
Wow...awesome story. You are a fantastic woodmaker and restorer and I have enjoyed watching. found you a few months ago. I do not have any type of tools really. small hands tools but I do like to make something on occasion. is it perfect..nope never..but its functional. but to see how things come apart that is vintage or antique is truly fascinating and how you can manage to take a piece of rotted trash and turn it into a masterpiece. You are Brilliant at what you do. Thanks for sharing.
Wow that wa super fun to watch, thank’s for the behind the scene look, you had a very good teacher, but you also have a natural talent my friend and you also have video editing and filming skills that makes it the more interesting to watch you work. Be well, god bless.
You are an amazing restorer and extremely skilled. I was born ten years before you, but if I lived there I would be happy to be an apprentice. Good luck to you and your family!
Thanks for the tour, and for the channel with the wonderful videos, and for being you. And thank you thank you for giving prices in euros. It is such a relief to see a European dude give prices in euros for a change, even though youtube gives you more profit for views from the US. As to the success of your channel I can only speak for myself. I like channels/videos where good craftsmen do a good job. A job they love. On top of that you are funny and don't waste your time on blah blah. The information you give is concise and interesting. Your channel is one of my favourites and seeing new uploads always make me happy :)
Thank you for this insight. I really love your channel. It's always enjoyable to watch you work on your projects. Keep up the good work and the videos and have a nice 2023.
I really enjoy your channel. You are a true craftsman… I have done flooring work for over 40 years and appreciate your patience and meticulousness. It relaxes me to watch and enjoy your videoes and appreciate your finished projects! 👍🏻
Muchas gracias por tus vídeos. Eres un excelente artesano. Verte trabajar me da mucha paz.
It is satisfying to watch your work. That's why so many people watch your chanel. I'm surprised by location of your workshop. I thought it is located in a high-rise building on a busy street, and not in a one-story building.
Thank you for your videos. After watching a lot of your videos i decided to take a class on woodworking with my wife. Even if it’s really different of our daily jobs 😀. Keep posting new videos!!
That was a nice idea for a video You answered some good questions I didn’t even think of How many clamps I’ve asked before lol Thx for the entertainment
