Once they removed HBO, my willingness to keep a plan from a carrier for 80+ for one line went away. I just keep Visible or US mobile now for 35$ per line.
After switching from T-Mobile to US Mobile, for a single line user, I cannot ever imagining going back to a post paid plan ever. Buy unlocked phones from Apple/Samsung/Google, and just save tons of money with prepaid companies.
Sorry Mr. Douglas, but you'll have to climb the phone pole by your house to get a signal. You know Eb is gonna tap your wife while you're up there, right?
@@timman3643 I totally understand that, and you’re right, BUT when stuff is taken away right after a price increase (even a little one) that pisses off knowledgeable consumers!
@@travisrauh AT&T actually has an actual QCI network core unlike Verizon and they do limit speeds heavily especially in congested areas. In addition, AT&T has the least density on their tower grid compared to Verizon/T-Mobile and I have seen speeds less than 10 mbps on 5G+ especially near my local mall.
Switched from AT&T (10+ yrs) to US Mobile and I've been incredibly happy. My line is on the Warp 5G Verizon side, and my wife's line is on the T-Mobile GSM side and we've had nothing but perfect coverage with great data speeds. Happy to leave AT&T after so many years of just being ripped off.
With companies like Visible and US Mobile where you can get priority data, international calling, roaming and even hotspot for 1/3 the price, i just don’t see how ATT is relevant anymore.
Coverage. For me VZ which is both US Mobile and Visible default is poor. Network is hot garbage in my area on LTE. Very limited 5G coverage. T-Mobile is better but not great and AT&T is easily the best. I have tried US Mobile on their T-Mo network but the network throttling was terrible.
I’m only staying because they give a 25% discount since I have their fiber. The high speed Latin America roaming along with the fact that you can use their data in Canada indefinitely is very useful to me.
Group pricing, you need atleast 4 people for it to make sense. 75.99 per person makes no sense but 40.99 per person plus a free iPhone can make sense for a family
At&t is the worst. Rates keep going up and service is non existent. I got 1-2 bars everywhere since the 5G rollouts in 2021. Switched to Verizon and it’s blazing fast. Couldn’t be happier.
Post paid makes sense if you have multiple lines (at least 3, preferably 4) and you take full advantage of the phone deals they give out. Otherwise stick to prepaid. Plenty of good options including Helium, US Mobile, Mint, Visible, among others
That is a vague an uninformed comment. Sounds like you have a grudge. So WHAT ARE YOU TALKING ABOUT!?! I have had a prepaid plan for mobile phone service for years and I could not be happier!! So what is your complaint? Details please, not just bitching! Did you work for the other 2 "companies"? How can you make that comparison?
AT&T is by far and away the most awful, incompetent and poorly supported wireless company out there. There is a 0% chance I will ever use them again, for anything, ever.
I recently switched to the PL plan and my bill went down by $35 a month with my signature discount. I have 7 lines, and before on the old unlimited plan AT&T gave me $5 off per line with my signature discount, with the PL plan it’s now $10 off per line with my signature discount.
I'm getting a signature discount with my company that I work for. Signing up tomorrow for the PL plan with 2 lines and also internet air by them. The cost will be like 130 bucks because we also will be getting byod discounts for 2 years.
When you talk about years, it makes absolutely zero sense because every year these stupid plans change so you ain’t locked in ever at an annual rate because every year it changes.
In my country my phone plan 5G data, hotspot data, call & message all unlimited combine with home fibre just $46/month damn those plans in US is expensive for less.
As someone who works at T-Mobile and was with att for 9 I can say that T-Mobile is the better deal in most cases. If on the go5g+ plan you may less total promotion value at 830 but that covers the cost of most phones that are on offer and a big chunk of the ones not totally covered and on top of that the upgrade cycle is 2 years instead of 3 with AT&T and that makes it have a value that the others simply don’t have imo
The deals that at&t has makes them worth it ngl. I got my s23u almost all paid off with their "trade in any "galaxy s" device for discounts off any new galaxy s" only paid 200 for the s23u, paid it off and now only paying 200$ off the s24u cuz of dat trade in.
I need an at&t plan to be able to unlock my iPhone later. I don't know if the iPhone is a popstpaid or prepaid unit. The ebay seller never specified the origin of the unit. I called Apple and everything was in order (not stolen or blacklisted). It had Apple Care at that time (not anymore). At&t CSR was also clueless about the prepaid or postpaid status of the phone.
I just checked cricket wireless imei both unlimited family plans. The 1st 4 lines unlimited data are for 4 for $100 with throttled data and 4 lines for $130 unlimited data that is not throttled not $167.78 that you mentioned in this video. The $160 is is for 5 lines for the unlimited plan that is not throttled. I use cricket wireless myself. I'm on the unlimited $60 plan since my data is not throttled and you need a vpn to bypass the 480p sd streaming since there is no way to turn off 480p streaming. I use a vpn so I can watch 4k youtube videos for much as I want on my mobile data. The mobile data hotspot is throttled to dial up speeds once the 15gb of mobile data hotspot is is used up.
No its overpriced for most people! No you don't save anything ! its just a trick to buy items you will never use, especially when you finance the phone by them, they "make you" buy one of the premium plans most people don't need or use. why would you need so much data? don't you own a TV and you stream your entire life via a miniature phone? Don't you have home internet at all? (In that case then yes you may need these expensive plans). Do you talk & text all day? (nearly all carriers are unlimited T&T anyway). just get the $15-45 monthly from one of the virtual providers, such as tello, mint, usmobile.....visible, slightly slower, but you save hundreds a year
I switched to Cricket and pay $360 for the whole year for unlimited everything. Only thing is no hotspot. Yeah you gotta pay in full but it’s so much cheaper considering that AT&T’s cheapest plan is almost $800 for the year ($66/mo). And cricket runs on AT&T’s network so I get excellent coverage. Best decision ever.
@@thomassetzer that’s true but it’s more than enough for the average person to use. I stay well under the “limit”. It’s definitely not for everyone but at least my wallet is thanking me.
I did the same with cricket and it works great in the US, Mexico and Canada but there's no international roaming when I work in Israel and now I'm in Alaska and At&t works here but not cricket wich is garbage
Hi Stetson, looking for a review on best phone plans that use the AT&t network. I use Straight Talk but since they were bought out by verizon i may not have that option as they no longer offer the GSM sim card. I do not have Verizon service at my home, only A T & T. Are there other options than AT&T Pre pay for the best value? Location is western SD
Very good and helpful comparison, but there are 3 points worth mentioning that might. 1. Tmobile's international plan does not cover calling, so each call costs additional, 2. Verizon's phone become unlocked after 60 days, making Verizon, no only the best international options, but also allowing families to activate 2nd SIM/eSIM when traveling! 3. If you in ATT Fiber footprint, you can bundle ATT Wireless and Fiber and save additional money, might also be the same for Verizon FIOS, but I know T-mobile does not offer residential fixed line internet.
You can see on the chart for 3 lines that if you ignore the phone cost, the TMobile essentials is $111 with taxes vs over $150 for ATT. TMobile 5go+ plan is $150 for 3 lines with tqxes and new phones are paid off in 2 years instead of 3 at att. I plan to switch to Tmobile 5go+, get new phones and after 2 years dowgrade to essentials until we need new phones (about 5 years for us). I don't need to pay for upgrade rights I don't need for years 3-5.
You do realize the vast majority were unaffected right? Less than 1% of their customers were affected, literally. It sucked sure. But largely most customers weren't affected.
@@whitetigergrowl we were all effected here in South Florida. I work property management. And every last one of our customers, venders, contractors, and co-workers had no service. And if it was less than 1% AT&T wouldn’t have even mentioned it.
I’m wit AT&T and have a grandfather plan that included max any word on if they talked wit discovery about allow the existing customers to upgrade to the ultimate tier on max
I just gave up and ended up getting on an annual Max Ultimate plan for $140 promo . I'm splitting it up so it's like $5/month close to that $4 price difference per month. I need 4K GoT & HoD that's why.
Stetson do you think the premium plans still stack up with each other? Att just lowered the priority of premium. Which has the better value? T-Mobile Verizon or att with these recent changes.
When I factor in AT&T making "mistakes" on my bill in their favor two to four (or more) times a year that I must notice and spend hours on the phone correcting after getting the run around from department to department...the discounts are not worth it!!! Especially when their "fixes" make my bill worse...perhaps it's now a way to lock me in... they must figure that I won't leave them until my bill is fixed.
They stole my $250 down payment on a phone a couple years ago.. took it then charged my bill as if I didn’t give a down payment. I gave up on trying to get it right after more than a year of phone calls and in person and everyone saying we can’t do anything about that take it up with the store you bought it from and we can’t do anything about that you have to call AT&T customer service.. just back and forth and back and forth
You failed to mention that you can pay a little extra and you won’t be tied into the 3 year upgrade, you just say it’s 3 years, with the AT&T next up you just have to pay half the price and you can upgrade
I hate that this wasn’t mentioned either, but I don’t think $6/month qualifies as “a little extra”. $72/year just for the option to be able to upgrade & start from nothing. No trade in value. No promo money off the new phone…nothing! It’s almost like paying $72 more towards the device (but it’s really going in AT&T’s pockets) to be able to just hand it over for a new one AFTER also paying off half of the device, which with AT&T = 1.5 years. If u previously traded in a paid off device for credit towards the new one, u forfeit the rest of those credits, pay the upgrade fee, AND have no promo credit towards the new device with a $25-$50/mo device credit (+$6/mo. next-up fee continuing) AT&T made next up optional & Verizon didn’t. That explains their estimated $5/mo increased plan prices.
@@2006g6gtp Sort of. You can turn In the Next Up device and get the Next Up promo $. For example: iPhone 14 series upgrade promo W/ Trade in. If it’s worth at least $95, then it is $700 in promo credits. iPhone 14 series upgrade W/ NextUp turn in is $350 in promo credits. So you cannot get the trade in promo $ but there are promo $ to be had with Next Up turn in.
Is there a way such as paying the phone installments early to get the promotional phones unlocked? We travel overseas a fair bit and would rather use local SIMs abroad than pay AT&T $10 a day for mobile service. If not, will have to consider a T-Mobile plan with international roaming included.
You can always pay off the phone early. You have to stay to get the credits as the trade in credits come over a 36 month period. We left ATT for a number of reasons, including we were NOT getting the promised credits when we traded my wife's iPhone XR back in 2021. Paid it off and had it unlocked in a matter of days after the phone was paid off. Left ATT after buying directly from Apple using ACMI. Gave the iPhone 12 Pro Max she had to our youngest (adult) child once she was on her new iPhone 15 PM. I don't think I'll buy from a carrier. I'll just buy directly from Apple and have an unlocked phone from the get-go.
@@buffuniballer We have always bought unlocked iPhones from Apple in the past. Since we are on postpaid, I thought I'd explore taking advantage of the credit on carrier sold phones. My wife has a LTE Apple Watch so most (all?) MVNOs are eliminated from consideration.
Why are those cell phone plans so expensive in the U.S. compared to similar European (EU) plans? The same goes for cable/fiber home internet connection. Outrageous prices. Compared by purchase power, European providers offer far better and more affordable deals for equal or similar services.
AT&T may one day price themselves out of business. They are already behind on technology, and after the loss of service on Feb 22 for many users, they may lose more customers...though I'm not sure that outage was their fault. I'm with US Mobile using T-mobile towers. 10 GB of premium data for $15/month if you prepay for a year or $23/month unlimited for prepay. Hard to compete AT&T!
@@CalvinTennesseeI guess that's why they get more customers per quarter than Verizon, and have lower churn than T-Mobile right? And they have the largest nationwide network, whole T-Mobile has the smallest nationwide network. Stupid online fanboys that insist on talking crap without knowing what they are talking about. 🙄
AT&T is good for a family plan especially if you pair it together with your home internet. The bad part is that AT&T has sensitive network. I tried t mobile on my second device and it work perfectly fine in underground parking and it work as well as a produce cooler and still got signal. While AT&T when I go inside these places I get SOS. Also T mobile has stronger 5g 🤷♂️ AT&T has 5g but doesn’t reach there speeds 🤦♂️🤕.
Thank you Stetson for this amazing informative AT&T video. In my area AT&T works wonderfully and paying a very few more dollars isn’t gonna make us really switch for now.
Hey, Stetson. I have a question. When I first switched to AT&T, I got the Unlimited Elite plan which included HBO Max. A few months back, I switched to the new plan called Unlimited Premium which doesn’t include HBO Max anymore. However, I can still use it. When AT&T makes the change to this ‘new’ plan in March, will I be included in the change and lose HBO Max? Thanks in advance.
Hey, I am unsure. I would have thought when you switched to Unlimited Premium without HBO Max that the access would have been removed or charged as extra to your account. So I don't know what will happen when your line is switched to Unlimited Premium PL in March. Hopefully you can still keep HBO Max though! :)
@StetsonDoggett Do you get Signature with the Elite plan? I'm a Signature member and heard it would remove my discount if I switched from Premium to Elite.
Boost mobile!!! 15 dollars a month!! I guarantee most people don't use more than 2 gb a month. I use mobile data every day and still haven't gone over. Plus, if you log in daily, you get money off your bill. I usually end up paying 3 dollars at most if not free!
@@CalvinTennessee Naww I am good I get discounts because I have Verizon Fios internet and Wireless Postpaid perks when service is combined together. Plus , I have the Verizon Visa Signature Credit Card
Hey Stetson wanna point out after chatting with a AT&T rep a bit ago I got told their is no promo deals unless you’re a customer not switching so 0 switching phone deals
