Had At&t, switched to Cricket. The difference in internet speed was negligible. Practically the same, you can just buy an unlocked At&t phone & use it with Cricket, no issues.
@@Remo1147 cause AT&T waters down network for Cricket customers. AT&T has better coverage in certain areas like rural areas where they don't have for Cricket customers plus they are not as high a priority. After a certain amount of GB AT&T slows down the network during peak times. I worked at Best Buy mobile for 3 years selling and activating cell phones and I repair them totally and I can fix any part of a cell phone in just a couple of minutes unlike stores and factories take an hour or so. I just purchase the parts from Ebay and add that on to my $10 labor charge cause I'm trying to get my name out there and build clientele but I know everything about cell phones. Zach of Jerryrigeverything RU-vid channel is good but not fast and efficient like me so I'm about to start my own channel and challenge him
I love Cricket Wireless! 🥰 Great company! Cricket gives you HBO Max, 1 year Sam's Club membership, and that's not true, I've never received slow data, or data caps with Cricket. There service is absolutely phenomenal.
You should compare cricket wireless vs AT&T GoPhone. Not AT&T post paid. I had AT&T GoPhone sim on my unlocked HTC one M8 and then switched over to Cricket Wireless when AT&T bought it because cricket offered better plans that AT&T prepaid was offering at the time. Cricket has add ons like direct TV and HBO. And in Mexico you are not capped at 10mbps down. Full speed in Mexico I had the 10GB plan then I upgraded to the 20GB promotional plan then I switched to the Unlimited MAX plan that is not available anymore. 1080p is not a problem on my HD devices as my HTC one m7 and M8 and 4K was a pleasure on my Motorola Nexus 6 and my Motorola Z3 play. Now on 2020 I'm using the same SIMcard with my grandfathered unlimited MAX on my Nokia 7.2 and still amazing service.. And 1080p still not a problem..
I have att prepaid for 5 years now. It's pretty good and it's similar pricing to cricket. Att owns cricket also, they bought them some time ago, no idea when. I literally use my 5g data with data saver options enabled and I don't run into issues the last few years. I did use to run into lots of issues longer than a few years ago, I think they were throttling me a lot, I was also living in highly popular big cities so I'm not sure if that contributed. Overall, att has excellent coverage and it even works well in BC canada. I used this phone in many cities of the country and I can say that my personal experience with their coverage matches what they advertise and claim. They give a big discount for auto pay and it makes their highest plans definitely worth it for heavy users. Mine is 50 a month after the auto pay discount and it comes with mobole hotspot enabled. I'm still deciding if I should switch or not though, so here I am researching. My att experience though is good enough where I'm in no rush to change anything and I don't mind staying on their prepaid highest plan.
AT&T prepaid plans are actually not that much more expensive than Cricket Wireless...On AT&T prepaid your data is not throttled (anymore), You get FREE hotspot with most plans, 1080p streaming with most plans and AT&T has more perks and benefits. I was with Cricket for a year and got sick of the data throttling and their stinginess with the hotspot. Hands down AT&T is just better!
@@whistleout Yeah, in the beginning the throttling on Cricket didn't bother me so bad...I had the unlimited 8mbps plan (when that was still a thing)...Honestly 8mbps is pretty sufficient to do what you want on your phone and I live in an area where AT&T has the best coverage, so I hardly ever noticed the throttling. It was the stinginess with the hotspot (being limited to certain devices, your device may be hotspot eligible this month but next month it's not, plus its $10 a month) when we're already being throttled to 3mbps-8mbps anyway...That's what really killed it for me with Cricket. I could have handled the throttling if they at least gave us free hotspot.
@@caleg2256 Yeah, I originally joined Cricket in September 2017 with a brand new unlocked phone...I had free access to the hotspot for the first 3 months I was with them. Then Cricket started cracking down and started blocking everyone from the being able to access the hotspot with unlocked devices. In Feb 2018 I started having issues with the phone I had and broke down and dropped almost $800 on a Galaxy S8 FROM CRICKET WIRELESS!...I was actually gonna pay the extra $10 a month and add hotspot "legally" to my phone plan and was told S8 is no longer hotspot eligible (even though it was like a month ago) 😡 After that I was done with Cricket!...I waited for my S8 to be eligible for an unlock and went to AT&T prepaid.
I have Cricket. They have since dropped their data speed caps. I only pay $55/mo for unlimited premium data, and I also get Max with ads for free. I don't think AT&T offers Max on any of their prepaid plans, and I think they stopped offering it on their postpaid plans too.
On the road today and was unable to use my phone for directions due to no web access even when I had tree bar signal and only used three meg of an unlimited plan. After two calls to Cricket service, I was directed to manually reset my phone and Cricket customer service did a remote reset and still no web. Think hard before you choose cricket.
I had AT&T and switched to cricket maybe 4 or 5 years ago, not much difference if the cellular coverage is the same and it's cheaper there's really no reason to have AT&T instead of Cricket in my opinion.
You’re right! You’re always covered by AT&T on Cricket because Cricket runs on AT&T’s network. That’s the benefit of have an MVNO! Cheaper prices, same great brand name coverage :)
Dunno if any one has noticed but Cricket used to have a limit set after 22gb if data usage network may slow due to congestion and last i checked the website that 22gb policy is gone. Yes the 55 dollar plan still only gives you 3mps speeds on their Cricket Core plan the other option the Cricket More plan actually doesn’t cap you anymore. It’ll only slow down is areas of congestion. I’ve seen some people on this plan getting like 50-60+mgb speeds in some areas.
eloy h Ikr and btw AT&T is actually ahead of T-Mobile. T mobile doesn’t have as good coverage as they tend to add coverage in populated areas. AT&T tends to add signal too, but they also have stronger 5G and 4G capabilities.
@@yourfriendlyneighborhoodge6110 I have to switch from T-Mobile's 55 and over plan because of coverage in my office building, I'm now on AT&T Prepaid unlimited with no hotspot for $45 a month plus tax. The reason I won't go with Cricket was they throttle on all speeds except Cricket more.
@@rockvilleraven Bro I have Visible and I have one line $25 per month with hotspot. I also use Cricket $25 per month 2 lines without hotspot. All have unlimited data, talk and text LTE
@@JA-dh4mj Don't call me brother. I had problems with InVisble which wanted to make me wait, 2 days to fix a no signal problem which might have been caused by the 6S not being unlocked because when I sold it, they found out it was an AT&T Phone. I'd rather spend a little more money for human tech support on the phone. That's now a deal breaker for me.
Cricket works much better for me than Verizon did. I left Verizon for Cricket, and immediately after switching, the issues stopped. And yes, half the cost of course. Actually, when I first switched, the price I paid for service dropped by over half. By like $30.
I live in Montana and I have T-Mobile's 4g LTE and T-Mobile is actually pretty good in Montana but still have no coverage In a few spots. But AT&T and Verizon is better in Montana than any other carrier. I turned auto off. Cuz when I lose T-Mobile coverage it automatically connects to at&t. And I don't have at&t.
And with their 600mhz TMobile has better coverage than At&t and T-Mobile bought out Sprint so they get access to all of Sprint towers and their Network. So their Network is getting stronger and faster and larger. Keep that in mind. They are still working on the 600mhz and once it rolled out it'll be way larger than att and once they get full access and upgrade sprint network their Network would be amazing.
Paul Lubbers bro my cousin had cricket and I have metro and we were at the woods we both had bars but mine won’t load anything I can’t send no messages and he can and he has cricket
Hey Paul! That's definitely something we can do for the future. Do you have any specific questions about the two we might be able to answer for you right now?
WhistleOut General questions would be over coverage (signal), speed (slowdown times?), perks, prices, and which one would be the better deal. I know you covered Cricket‘s “perks” in this video, some of it might be a repeat but you get the idea. Does that help?
@@paullubbers2473 definitely! We added it to our calendar. If you wanted to do some research of your own before it's published, here are some helpful links: bit.ly/2WpMkkw - Metro Review bit.ly/2qVd1Cb - Cricket Review
Gold stars, gold shmarz. I had AT&T along with the Direct TV package, but it wasn’t free, at least not to get any of the channels I wanted. I bought my phone outright, so I wasn’t paying on the phone or paying for insurance. That being said, my bill was originally $117 a month, but jumped up to $230 after 2 years! And that doesn’t even include wifi, which AT&T offers, but not in my area. After deciding to scale down my monthly expenses to put more towards retirement, I got rid of Direct TV, & switched to Cricket. I was able to use my phone & keep my number. I had unlimited data with AT&T, so I went over my bill for the last 2 years & found that I only went over 10G’s twice, so I chose the unlimited talk/text & 10G plan for $40 per month. With auto pay it’s actually only $35 a month. That’s $I95 in monthly savings. As far as coverage & data service I notice NO difference between both services. have Amazon Prime Video included in my Amazon account, & I subscribed to Discovery Plus streaming which has almost all the shows I watched on Direct TV. Those plus free streaming with Pluto, Tubi, & Peacock which I get free with my wifi service & my TV service is covered. Personally I think AT&T is a ripoff for someone like me, & I hated having to call customer service, cuz I always got someone in India who I couldn’t understand, & they never fulfilled my requests correctly. For me Cricket is a no brainer, & I didn’t miss a beat with my phone service from the moment I switched. Personally I think anyone who subscribes to a major phone company or TV provider is foolish
I switched from Verizon to Cricket back in 2016, and I'm still with Cricket. I have the $60 unlimited plan, which is only $55 with autopay. I don't even use 10 GB of data in a month, but it's still nice to be able to be on my phone as much as I want without WiFi, not having to worry about how much data I use. Especially if WiFi isn't even available. That plan also offers Max for free though. You should consider it. You wouldn't even need Discovery+ then, since Max has a lot of content on it from Discovery+. I will never use another big phone company again. Even if I ever leave Cricket, I'll just switch to another prepaid carrier that uses one of the main company's networks.
Yep I mention that in the video :) But just because two carriers run on the same network doesn't mean they're exactly the same when it comes to other aspects like pricing, perks, plans, data speeds, etc. - Sherri
You also have to sign a contract with att. And not with Cricket. Phone service is as individual as your taste in underwear. There are those who will use any service and those who will only use GSM based. Those who will sign contracts and those who won’t. It’s funny how in the USA cdma services don’t have SIM cards but in Europe they do. Did you ever wonder why? It’s to keep subscribers locked in to both their service and hardware. If you are on sprint and your phone is damaged, you have to go back to sprint to get a new phone and to get the service transferred to that new phone. On gsm if your phone is damaged, you go get another, new or used, unlocked gsm compatible phone and move your SIM card over to it. Your service is back up and you didn’t have to pay a reactivation fee, plus with contract services there are crap tons of additional fees that go on top of your monthly service price. With cricket and like services, if they say your price is 100.00 a month or 35.00 a month, that IS what the price is. One of my first phones they told me (and this was a looooong time back) my monthly price was 65.00. Which I thought at the time was a excellent price. When I got my first bill and it was over a hundred. I was right back down there asking WTF. The additional 40+ was fees, fees, taxes and fees. I use cricket and have never been disappointed in it. It is after all AT&T. Despite what Verizon says, I think ATT is the best cell network. I’ve had Verizon and I know lots of people who have it or have had it, and not one of them has anything good to say about the service. Ive used TMobile, Sprint and USCellular. USC is a ver small network that is no longer in our region. TMob is very poor service in this area, and Sprint is cdma which means no flexibility. If you want phone flexibility, good service and reasonable prices without being tied to a contract, Cricket is the way to go along with other MVNOs that use the ATT network.
Most of what we watch is RU-vid (360p/480p) & netflix (about same quality since watch on phones) would cricket be good option? I see the numbers but not sure how it completely affects watching experience.
Hey , Wait a Minute ! What did you really LOOK FOR ? I don't need a Video Player or A COMPUTER SYSTEM ! I want a PHONE ! Now ask your question Again ? Hands Down " CRICKET " ! @ 48.00 a Month
At the beginning of the year after six years of service my phone service speed and signal dropped significantly, unfortunately this means I will have to drop Cricket service for good.
Cricket for unlimited plans gives you 22g of data nobody can exceed that in their bill cycle plus 15g of hotspot for only 60$ not bad at all after 22g it will slow down but you should never exceed 22g within ur 30 days of cyce
I have never been throttled and I watch RU-vid like everyday would you set up a good amount of data and I'm on cricket and I don't really care about HBO or Stars so the better one for me is cricket not AT&T and the pressure in mobile hotspot on cricket is like $10
Cricket Wireless is great and AT&T is better so I choose both I wish one day they would merge together lol.... oh and the worst wireless service ever was Pocket Wireless and their phones gald they became instinct.
In my honest opinion cricket is better I just bought a new iPhone from at&t and I don’t have WiFi at my house and as soon as I used all the “fast” data it slowed the hell down. Like bad. I couldn’t even facetime anyone without it acting so shitty. And when I had cricket wireless for 50$ a month even when it was considered “slow” data it was still pretty fast plus a lot cheaper so I have cricket now. I understand it’s the same towers but for me it’s faster on cricket
lol i suggest you learn your facts before you go off speaking about a phone carrier ... even with at&t there was still a few things you've missed and also with cricket... FACTS. LEARN THEM AND RE MAKE THIS VIDEO
@@Phatfatman not mine, almost everywhere I go I test my speed using different services and almost all of them report I get between 9 and 15 mbs. I even showed it to at&t and cricket reps.
I wouldn't use either. Had massive billings problems with AT&T. It's been about 6 years with Cricket and last few months I can't even bring up a web page at the beginning of my cycle with unlimited data. Going with Sprint. Good Luck.
Of course there was a problem with the server lol.... A rep here asked me what part of town I lived in. As if to say, oops you should not have signed up.
In my market, the answer is absolutely neither, yeah bottom of priority list for Cricket, but also AT &T has severe problems as well in town from friends who use them. It just does not work well at all, Tracphone worked way better. No gold stars lol you are comparing 2 bad services... maybe a bit cheaper but not worth it at all. Will my phone or internet work here? Not something you should be asking, red flag lol.....
Better comparison would had been prepaid vs Cricket. Cricket is great for low income, seniors, or individuals with low speed data requirements eg GPS, social, and maybe music streaming. 3 Mbps unlimited is just plain inexcusable. They have the nerves to bill it as LTE, more like 3G, with those speeds. Another issue is prioritization. First post paid, prepaid, and then MVNO, why I’m moving away from Cricket, that ping
Cricket has the worst customer service. Had prepaid for an extra month of service and when the next month came up the prepaid money was gone. Customer service was rude. I got hung up on 4 times while waiting, was on the phone all day trying to get the issue solved. Finally they wrote a service ticket. Never got my money back or the month of service I paid for.
for sure! do you want it compared against another carrier or just a straight review? In the meantime... check out our GoogleFi review on our site: www.whistleout.com/CellPhones/Guides/google-fi
Cricket is better than at&t postpaid service i think Cricket wireless has better perks for the money as at&t no longer pffers any perks really with cricket you get better entertainment unlimited high speed data and as far as coverage they are owned by At&t hello lol the coverage might be slower slightly but I think hands down Cricket is far better and i have no idea what the hell she is talking about AT&T doesn't offer any perks aside from international and seriously how many times are you going to call someone overseas

cricket is a throttled speed mvno prepaid that forces data interruption technology to raise ping which slows your speed the network performance really sucked that is why i dumped them and went to metro now for 60 bucks i get 50gb of lte at full speeds 65-200 mbs download, i had att prepaid they sucked very high price 85 bucks and ripped me off on autopay saying my card was no good and never gave me discount i canceled them they charged me 65 bucks and refused to refund me, there customer service is horrible and they are thieves
@@walex1101Cricket is good. Same service since they're owned by AT&T, but half the cost, maybe even over half the cost for some. Cricket offers 5 lines of their highest plan for only $160/mo. Even AT&T itself can't beat that.
I have hade both and I have people in my shop who use them both I also travel to northeren Wisconsin and do privit cell tower aditing. att is not better for the most part. cricket has never throttled me and I can watch 4k video on cricket. on to the tech side. cricket has towers they use as part of a contract with tower providers that was sighned and paid fore before the take over them towers are still cricket towers after the take over as selling the company was not part of a termination for the contracts so their fore cricket can get a connection in spots att can not I have seen this my self but att is not telling people this since they own cricket and do not want people going with a contractless plan. also inless you speak to a tech or know people in the industry in places like the north manly their are towers that cost more to run and matain since they are in the woods and are only aloud so much bandwith and so many antennies on them them towers will not work with any mvno only with att contract plans. you can actuly see when their tower is their but not connecting to your phone buy using apps off the app market or in field testing mode on some phone. so if you live in the north woods you are better with att but if not then cricket is the way to go. at one time straight talk was the way to go since they had their own towers in places with antennas only for their service but they shut them down do to lawsuits from companies they had mvno contracts with. how ever if you are a person who travels a lot in the us and even out then straight talk is the best plan. this is for the fact they work on every network. so if you buy a unlocked phone of get your phone unlocked and its a phone mad in the last 5 years and was a top of the line phone it should work with all providers. this is good since if you do not get service wear you are at or on vacation in for a week or longer then you can just call them tell them your location and how long you are their fore and that you have a unlocked phone and what model it is and for a small fee that will actvate the phone to work with them towers and you just switch back when you get home. most of the time if you tell them you travel a lot and that the service is not working wear you are they will drop the fee and just tell you to buy the activation kit online or from a store for a few dollars and to call them to make shure your number is not lost.
