You remind me of my dear Dad, calm kind face, with a gentle humble voice. He always spoke about the weather. I really miss him. He is with God. Thankyou for your videos. Wonderful
I can't get over how much it feels like visiting you in person your cabin videos are to me. I sit here and I'm taken to "another place," and trust me, that's a good thing! LOL I love the cooking, birds, stove and the snow. It's so like sharing lunch and dinner with a long time friend. It's so comfortable in your cabin, most of all it's you, and your sharing that warms my heart the most. Just talking to us makes it so special. Of course getting great tips is really good too. I will be starting my cheese soon, and will make a video of it too. I've been packing up lots of boxes of storage items, and as soon as I can get them out of here, I should be able to start. I really like the small cheese making kit I purchased and I'm thrilled you shared it with everyone. Well, I hope you didn't get snowed in, and thank you so much for a fantastic visit. Blessings, Sheila
Isn't this nice to know that you are sharing this with people? This is one thing about technology that I love!!! You don't ever have to be lonely. We are here to enjoy your videos and to correspond with you!!! Isn't this the best??
It’s ow April 2021 and We don’t usually have these hard winters in Texas so I enjoy the videos of the cozy cabin! We did have a very surprise snow event in February when power and water was lost for many about a week. I lost power and stayed bundled up in layers of clothes and blankets. Was very thankful for candles for light and to read by! Thank you for sharing your videos.
it is Oct. 2017, I go back and watch your videos when I have had a stressful day. I find them relaxing and informative. Thank you for your down to earth perspective. Blessings to you and Angel.
thank you. for sharing. here in northern Illinois have not had lots of snow but bitterly cold ! love spending video time in your little cabin. I am going thru a difficult life change called divorce..your videos are very relaxing..calming and fun to watch. I too make the bread you make. my grandchildren love it so much. one loaf is gone when barely out of the oven! previous memories with them ! thank you so much for your videos. always glad to see a new one !
You have a wonderful cabin. Very tidy, and well organised. Refreshing to see video's of enjoying life with a low carbon footprint focus !! Very impressed !
man i love your little cabin life...i cut a tree down this past fall...when i grew it from seed i never pulled leaves off as it grew so from the trunk it branched out 5/6 limbs.( 5 or 6 inch diameter )..i left about 4-5 feet of stump and put some seed on the ends for the birdies...i plan on drilling some holes into it and shove sticks into them for feeding perches...i only have a sabre saw and cant cut a big stump so i decided to make a feeder out of it !!
Here November 2018 because I’m ready for the cozy this video brings. In a warm cabin with snow falling all around. Your calm mellow voice is an added bonus.
Good food in a cozy cabin! What a great way to spend a wintry day, Dale! So far in late December and early January, we've had fairly typical winter weather. It looks a lot like where you are.
+OneYardRevolution | Frugal & Sustainable Organic Gardening Thank you Patrick. We still have snow but some of this melted next day in the rain. Due to get really cold this week.
It is wonderful to watch your very peaceful dialogue of the traditions of cooking on Campobello, especially in the Cabin. I finally made the Haddock chowder and it was delicious. Found frozen at sea Icelandic Haddock, distributed by High Liner, in the local grocery store. Dale, thank you again for your wonderful videos.
A wonderful way to enjoy the winter days, Dale! Looks like you really enjoy your time in the cabin. We do too (our cabin being our home). We enjoy it so much more than when we lived in the city. Looks like every thing is performing well - lights, stove, etc. - and is keeping your comfortable. Gives you lots of time to pine away, over the seed catalogs and planning the garden for spring. Will be here before you know it! Thanks for sharing another well done video with us. Blessings. David.
+The Homestead Chronicles I hardly use the cabin the rest of the year but I lover it out there in the winter with the wood fire going. I've been giving the credit cards some exercise in the seed catalogs this week.
You won't believe this, probably, but your voice is so soothing and your attitude so purist, that I go to sleep, nightly, listening to your vlogs. You should do commercials or record children' s books -on- tape, maybe do character voice overs. You don't realize what a, " port in the storm", you are........so relaxing. May God bless you.
+Rick's backyard garden Thank you Rick the Cabin videos are always the most popular the holiday were grate and topped of with the new Starwars movie yesterday.
This was such an enjoyable video. So cool. I love that Coleman oven, that is so slick. I get pretty close to our chickadees too, they'll let me watch them a few feet away from the feeder. Great video.
+Craig Arndt Thank you Craig. Chickadees are easy to train to eat out of your hand. I haven't done it in years but my niece's two little girls both hand feed them. I think it is easier to do when the feeder is empty just hold some sunflower seeds out in the palm of your hand.
+patricktilman Thank you. The cabin videos are always the most popular. I used the cabin a lot in winter enjoying the wood fire, reading and bird watching so I'm sure there will be more before spring.
Dale great video !!! I'm slowly going back through your past videos and watching.them. It gives me ideas and motivation for my future plans for my "cabin" in the woods. I really like your setup. Can't wait to see more cabin adventures....lol besafe my friend
It has been so long since I watched one of your videos. How beautiful and relaxing. Thank you so much for sharing your pescious cabin with us ..really enjoyed it thank you. I used to live up North, your video made me feel like I was visiting home again..thank you.
As always Dale, I truly enjoyed your video. I'm not sure why but I get the feeling that I'm right there with you enjoying the heater and the wildlife. Thank you for posting.
Nice Cabin overnighter, very cosy. It is nice to sit in front of a wood stove and relax. Over Christmas I sat in front of a fireplace with logs burning in the grate and the crackle and pop noises, whilst reading a book, courtesy of my television. There is one channel called fireplace and that is what you get a video on a loop of a crackling fire, with accompanying Christmas music. I kept telling anyone who would listen that I had to turn the volume down, because it was getting to hot. LOL
You live a very charmed life in the cabin with the snow and the birds. I was hungered as I watched you bake bread and make chowder and chocolate chip cookies.
That's one hungry dove!!!! Down here in Fla its fun to watch the bluejays with the cranky old mockingbirds because the bluejays aren't afraid of them like everyone else is. The mockingbirds dive bomb everything that gets near their shrubs, but the bluejays play chase me with them in the shrubs,, haha They're not afraid of no mockingbirds !! I enjoy your videos, God bless you.. Your very talented, you certainly have the gift of cooking🍞🧀🌶🍅🍐🍪🍜☕🎂 take care
last year I was watching your cabin videos and said I was going to get one built , well it is pretty much done now in my back yard you can see it if you want type in Jan sigman tiny house ,I spend a lot of time in the little place ,your videos is what got me thinking about it !!!
+Jan Sigman You did a beautiful job it looks very nice. Did you use the same set of free plans that I used? With some modifications it look like the plans with the loft a porch and the size. The dimensions you gave was that just the interior or does that also include the porch. It's beautifully finished with AC no less. Mine is a bit remote from the house so I have never locked the door, haven't had a problem at all and there isn't much of crime problem here but if someone is going to go in I would rather they don't kick the door in to do it. I will put this link to your video so people can go see your cabin: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-58Fu__mvFe0.html
I always love the cabin vids. I can just feel my stress melt away when I watch them. Very often afterwards I make a massive cup of tea. Thanks so much for filming them and carrying everything to and fro for us. :)
Great video as usual Dale. Funny I am just rewatching all the Rebus shows on youtube. Your bread made my mouth water. I have a couple of days off work so you have inspired me to bake some bread. I've been devouring my seed catalogs and looking ahead to spring. Happy New Year to you.
+Maisie C Heart`s Content Thank you Maisie. I didn't know the Rebus shows were on youtube I must have a look there might be some I haven't seen. I ordered my potato seed tonight and plan to hit the seed catalogs this coming week.
I've been catching up and re watching your videos Dale, those summer and spring videos sure make a person yearn for warm weather. Your cabin looks pretty cozy and comfortable. Be safe and have a great 2016 new year.
Dale it's always good to visit with you! Your birds are beautiful. We don't have cardinals in Alberta and I'm quite surprised to see how red they really are. You make me feel lazy. You did so much kitchen work in your cabin and I'm just having coffee watching your wonderful videos...being lazy. You're so relaxing Dale. When I'm having an off day I just watch your videos! Can you tell me what video you talk about changing your cabin stove please? I somehow missed it and I watch all your videos. It's a real treat seeing a nice long video in the cabin from you!
+Sun Dream Thank you. The Cardinals are not common here either I normally only catch a glimpse of them in the spring and fall migrations but this pair have stayed with me year around for three years now. This is the first video that I made with the new stove: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-mXfY3W48O9M.html
Happy New Year Dale. I logged on here to see if you had any new cabin videos. So glad I did. You all had some snow up there in the Great White North, where we down here in the lower 48 (specifically in the state of New Jersey) had a 71 degree Fahrenheit Christmas. I think that is about 21 degrees Celsius . Love your videos--a loyal fan. Peace. Kaersten
+Kaersten Colvin-Woodruff Thank you. We had a brown and mild Christmas too the snow that is on the ground now arrived on December 29th. Crazy weather it is getting milder again now with a lot of rain forecast for Sunday so we will likely be back to bare ground again.
I know, I am a bit disappointed with this "winter" but it's not over yet. Please keep posting videos. I've been using my square biscuit cutters all year round ever since you suggested them, and I love them. Thank you.
I'm new to your channel have been enjoying your videos. I have a feeling I will been learning lot from all that you do. You are quite the inspiration keep on keeping on.
I always enjoy your videos. You have a gold mine in that rose bush. The hips are high in vitamins C. It makes a lovely jelly. My Dad told me that it was used as a tea or jelly in the Depression.
+2redbird1 Thank you. I love that bush and I grew it from seed which makes it even more of a treasure. Everyone of those little berries is a blossom in the spring it is a thing of beauty too.
Dale, thank you for this wonderful cabin video - they are my favorite videos of yours - and they certainly mean a lot to many of us! The fish chowder, bread, and chocolate chip cookies sure look delicious - I hope you enjoyed it all! (P.S. - we have oyster crackers throughout the United States, though the brand is different depending upon the region. I use them in my chowders, creamy soups, and on chili a lot of the time!)
I so love your cabin videos, and, that stove looks warm and cozy. You make recipes look easy. We have trails where I live and all sorts of birds, especially cardinals, frequent the trees. Recently purchased a Cannon Vixia HF R60 for my upcoming England trip.
+Nora Hepburn Thank you Nora some of the snow melted in the rain the next day but things are still white and it is due to get really cold this coming week.
Lol,Mr.Dale that looks so good,I'm watching at 11:21 p.m. so now I'm getting out of bed and making my way to kitchen to get a snack, would like some of that bread, but there isn't a fresh loaf in the pantry,so maybe a peanut butter and jelly sandwich will have to do.lol ,thanks for sharing. love your vlogs.
Hi Dale, great video. I enjoy your cabin series videos. Very peaceful and relaxing. Looks like good quality time, good food and certainly appreciate your attentiveness throughout the vids. Feels like a real serene place to spend time. Keep up the good work and looking forward to many many more cabin updates. Happy New Year. :-)
I have noticed with my Magic stove that when it starts up the glass in the door gets a bit sooty and black but once the temperature gets up to about 350C then the window clears as does the firebricks inside the stove. In FInland a knob of butter on your porridge is called voisilmä/butter eye
+OldGardenerGuy No fire bricks in mine but the glass is very clean now. I've always had some butter on my porridge I suppose my parents must have had it that way.
Mr Calder, after peeling the onion, cut it in half, then slice the half into three cuts. then the side of the onion two slices cut not so deep. the turn the onion and cut all of it, it will come out small slices, l am sure that you already know that, but it is just that l cut it like that.hope you dont mind me saying. thankyou. take care.
+PainChaud First time I've used the oven on the wood stove I think it would work well on something that cooks slowly like a casserole or baked potatoes.
+PainChaud I think Walmart in Ellsworth Maine but I've seen them in Canadian Tire here in the camping section. I see that amazon.ca sells it www.amazon.ca/Coleman-Company-5010D700T-Camp-Oven/dp/B0009PURJA/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1451739629&sr=8-1&keywords=coleman+camp+oven you will want a small pizza stone it really helps to regulate the heat I've video on it back there somewhere likely in the cooking series.
Great way to start the New year .Hope you have a good one.Again my Two male and single female are back .The males and females never come to the feeder at once . We have very little snow also. Thanks for the wonderful well edited, very interesting video.
+Tom Kemble Thank you Tom the same to you. Same here I never see them both at the feeder at once. About half the snow in this video melted the next day in the rain. Due to get very cold here though the first of the week.
I just made your fish chowder tonight for the first time. I found frozen individually packed tilapia filets at the store. It might be a bit too delicate, but I quite liked it. I’ll look for haddock elsewhere next time.Thank you!
......Hello from Texas! I just found you today and have loved watching your videos! You're in the part of the country I've always wanted to visit. Not sure if or when I'll ever make it there but now watching you is the 2nd best thing! Thank you for making such great and interesting videos. :-) Looking forward to seeing more........
Hi Dale, Really nice video you have a great settings there with hot stoves home made food and snow, woodland with birds outside :) really amazing place to spend time in during the winter.
+pam p LOL I do get a lot of enjoyment out of the little cabin. Our west coast has been snow free for some time too, Vancouver for over a year and Victoria for almost two years.
Dale: Nice video! Your cabin is just perfect! Homemade bread is the only way to go and the aroma of bread baking is worth the effort. I am a big fan of great breads that make great toast. Orange Marmalade is my favorite topping. I thought everyone put a little butter in porridge and/or oatmeal. Nice to here someone use the words tea towel to describe the cloth one puts over bread that is rising. I thought it was Southern Thing, and since you live in the southern part of your country it would still apply. 18F tonight here in the sunny south and it will be the first time I have had to use heat in my greenhouse. We saw a few flakes today and it was 37F. Stay Warm! Bernard
+navajopa31 Thank you Bernard. I'm so far south it was -15C this morning LOL. Crazy weather by the weekend it is supposed to be back above freezing again.
Cute that the birds would watch from the window box. The blue jays and squirrels here perch in my wisteria and look in my dining room until I feed them. Enjoy them.
Mr. Calder can I ask you what you did for a living and where are you located in Canada? Love your videos just came across you after I search Jotul stoves. thank you so much Your much relaxing. Rob from North east Pa.
