At the Gates pretty much started melodic death metal in Sweden. Do yourself a favor and please check out more from them. Kingdom gone Blinded by fear Terminal Spirit disease Nausea Cold Death and the labyrinth To drink from the night itself Go Do it
One of the top 10 most important metal albums of all time. I'm not saying is one of the best, because that's subjective, but certainly one of the albums that changed the sound of metal for the next 20 years.
Slaughter of the Soul is one of the most important albums in metal and I’m very proud to have seen it performed live at Bloodstock festival here in the UK
The next generations 'Reign in Blood'. The importance of this album cannot be overstated. It would be easier to discuss who hasn't been influenced by ATG... I was 16 when this came out and it hasn't aged a day since (unlike all of us! lol). Also, I think as anything, if you weren't around when this originally came out its easy to not fully understand the impact. Those days were utter magic. Also, For those who need to investigate further, definitely get the complete studio session/deluxe edition that comes with a DVD doc & promo. It is easential!
they broke up just as this incredible album was released due to management issues but reformed due to the success of the album-members were also in THE HAUNTED
Please do their song under the serpent sun! It was so good that on their most recent EP, fit for an autopsy chose to cover it out of all songs they could choose, that's all you need to know!
Now you have to check out In Flames - Moonshield and Dark Tranquillity - The Dividing Line. Both are from the same time period as this At the Gates album.
LOL i remember how stoned i was when i watched this now. i live for the vocalizations lol. maybe next time they’re live we can get a ‘great job!’. there’s so much metal out there. it’s easy to just kinda miss bands. i didn’t even connect them to the haunted off the bat either. but yeah these guys kill and they’re a band that’s evolved really gracefully as well. i’ll send you some of their newer shit at some point as well. these guys are about that life.
yes they were on GTA 4: the lost and the damned soundtrack and also they only pioneered the melodic death metal genre with a few other swedish bands...
