@@tonyt.r.5313 - He was a little indirectly insulting to Hans Zimmer and Junkie XL in an interview in 2017, saying that making a new theme for iconic characters instead of using the classic ones is to stroke the ego of the composer (lacking self-awareness for the fact that he used his own theme for Batman, who'd previously had the 1960s theme).
At The Speed Of Force: Tom, whatever happens I want you to know. Your original score was one of them. One of the best of the best. Edit: The Academy just solidified this.
I know he means he's not great technically, playing the instruments, but it just proves you don't have to be Van Halen or Slash or even The Edge to be a great musician who uses guitar for your music
Mr Holkenborg, this is a dream come true, the series of videos where you break down your process. 10 years ago I had to search the corners of the earth (mostly extra features of dvds) to find behind the scenes videos like these. They wouldn’t be half as detailed. You sitting down in your creative space, letting us in and explaining to us how to create your music, it’s a blessing. It’s moments like this where I am grateful to RU-vid and to successful people like you who give back even though they don’t have to. Thank you ♥️
Your music is what pushed this scene to become what I think to be the greatest moment in any comic book movie. Me and my brother watched the theatrical cut back in 2017 and it wasn't the Justice League movie what we were hoping it to be. Seeing ZSJL together after almost 4 years later was amazing. This specific moment moved both of us. We were bobbing our heads in unison to your music as Flash ran back in time to save the world. Incredible work, Tom. You killed it. Thank you.
I've rewatched it so many times, as well as reaction videos because I wanted to see if everybody else found that moment as powerful as I had. I watched it alone, but it's nice to see I'm not the only one that thought it was such an epic moment, I think in any superhero movie I've seen. I love Flashpoint so this was such a welcome change to JL. I want me some more flash now.
@@GenEXReviews hell, I'm a 52-year-old man and it also brought to me to tears. I'm also on the autism spectrum and I rarely react emotionally to music, so that's saying something for this score.
I'm not a DC fan, neither a Marvel one. I haven't watched JL 2017. I wasn't even planning on watching ZSJL, but I did watch it. I've seen my share of superhero movies. But I 100% agree. The scene of Flash reversing time (+ the score!) is in my opinion the best moment a superhero had by himself in the big screen in any comic book movie.
That scene with The Flash is undoubtedly one of the most incredible scenes ever put in a comic book movie. Everything from the fantastic CGI, the moving dialogue, Ezra’s perfect line delivery and of course Junkie’s score
Even though this theme is Epic af, I really don't think this exact theme will be used in the following "The Flash" film/films coz:- 1. Warner Bros being Warner Bros. 2. It will take away the exclusivity and epicness from the moment in ZSJL, with a world ending stake that it had. So probably a variation of this will carry on, if the studio even allow it in the first place. Smh Also #restorethesnyderverse
"Am I a good musician? By no means." This, sir, is called impostor syndrome. You singlehandedly created a track that was adored by every single person that watched the movie and stayed in fans' heads for weeks after. That certainly qualifies as being a good musician.
ehh saying he has imposter syndrome is a bit too much. In comparison to many others in the industry, Tom is a humble musician, that's what makes listening to him as well as his compositions so fun. I'd say he's extremely humble (unlike some who have also scored JL), recognizing his abilities and limitations as a musician. Making him one of the greats in the industry
@@iaMk69 True, although I think imposter syndrome probably exists to some degree in every humble creator. It seems only natural to compare ourselves to others and for some reason always find ourselves wanting. That said, he seems more than confident enough in his abilities to create some amazing pieces.
@@adamtownshend3719 Agreed. I guess people do have an innate tendency to make either up or downward comparisons. Even so, I'd say those that are humble are so because they have the urge to always learn and acquire new information regarding something specific. I personally think It's more to do with wanting to achieve the highest possible goal in an area because of the adoration you have for the said area, rather than having the thought that your achievement was due to the kindness of others and not based on your own personal merits.
To tell you the truth... When the scene came on.... it brought tears to my eyes and a HUGE smile on my face... I actually felt that I was watching a REAL superhero movie... if u know what I mean... MASSIVE respect to Junkie XL
@@thereallionking3475 To be fair, you're the one who unsubed from a channel because of something so insignificant. I liked this Flash theme but I myself didnt like the JL theme as much as I hoped I would though I didn't dislike it.
I can't believe this is the same guy that have music soundtracks in Need For Speed games and has composed the most epic movie soundtracks! You are a very talented person!
It never occurred to me that in order to get the music right, you must have a deep understanding of the character, his story and motivations. Well done, Sir.
As a hardcore Flash fan, when I close my eyes I can see the flash running through the speed force with this theme. Thank you so much for gracing us with it
@@juhannyoung370 Danny elfman is a legend cmon. Joss whedon pulled him in last second and it was a herculean task. The two dislikes are geoff johns and john berg.
The man is as humble and modest as they come. No air of arrogance about him and he seems to be someone who's always willing to learn more no matter what he has achieved.
Soundtracks that bestow meanings to every character in Zack's movies are few of the crucial arts of how iconic Man of Steel, Batman v Superman, and Zack Snyder's Justice League are in numerous levels. Soundtracks that elaborate the story of a character and define their iconography. For instance, the Flash. Tom Holkenberg just fuly explained the what, how, and why of making this soundtrack, how it becomes epic to the fans worldwide. Just WOW
this track means everything to all zack snyder fan out there. thank you so much for making such legendary soundtrack. people will amaze by this scene for many many years to come.
This might be the best track you've ever composed; i've listened to a lot of your music and nothing makes me feel like "At the Speed of Force" does. This track is just a masterpiece in theme music, it transforms a crucial scene from pedestrian to a masterpiece in emotional filmmaking. Well done!
Massive respect, this is even better than composers Master Class. Youre really teaching how to make your music. Im no composer but I like to see the creative process behind it. Thank you Junkie XL
Awesome theme! If there's one thing that Zack Snyder always gets right is that he's teamed up with the best composers! The soundtracks of the Snyderverse have always been so awesome. MoS's flight theme, BvS's Beautiful Lie and Batman's theme, Wonder Woman's theme, and now Flash's theme. Ah man, very pretty. One thing that Marvel does not have as far as I'm concerned is epic soundtracks.
It's quite fascinating and blessing to see a renowed music composer to explain the process of his work to his fans quite patiently. Tom, whatever happens, I want you to know. You're one of them. The best of the best.
I've been replaying the theme nonstop and about to set it as my ringtone, thank you Tom, thank you for bringing Flash to life with your magnificent score xo
I’m probably going to buy the soundtrack (I have Apple Music) so I can make ringtones from a few tracks. I need this one and Superman’s return just before it for sure. I also need one of the JL and Batman themes.
For me music makes or break a scene, imagine TDK trilogy without zimmer's music or the raimi trilogy without the Elfman and young scores. Tom has cemented himself as a great with BvS, Mad Max and now ZSJL. You might not like the Snyder movies but you gotta admit they're sound and visual Masterpieces.
Even if they use old themes, they’ll probably use Danny Elfman’s Flash theme from Josstice League. I swear Elfman ripped off the CW theme. So unoriginal.
Junkie , this was just the combination between the best scene and the best track on ZSJL! Thank You! And Thank You Zach! Zach for years knew that you would compose a piece of art to complete his vision!
This scene... This scene was made by the atmosphere the music created. It was emotional, and just down right BEAUTIFUL. I've had this on repeat since I first heard it. Thank you so much for your contribution to Justice League. You ROCK. 🤙
This is one of the best examples of how the score elevates a scene. This sequence was already visually stunning but your music made it sublime. So unsure and delicate at the start, confident and triumphant at the end, and beautiful throughout. Thank you for this!
