I am ashamed of what that man did to you. I treat everyone equally irregardless of sex, race, color, sexual orientation etc. until you give me a good reason not to. Congratulations, Lynn! 💙. Ladies, I’m sorry about your encounter with the rude man. I won’t speculate about him, but I’ll share an experience I had. I stopped at a gas station/convenient mart near a major airport. A man opened the door of the store, he looked back and saw me behind him, then he entered the store and closed the door in my face. l was shocked. Thank goodness that’s not the norm.....I pray you ladies are met with kindness and hospitality thru the rest of your journey.

Another great video and so happy for Lynn! Hope her foot is holding up and exciting news on the new grand baby! The situation with the soda jerk was unfortunate but you definitely handled it with grace. I'm more disappointed in the other men. Old guy almost definitely has issues and will probably not change at this point. The other men should have spoke up or declined to partake. I know you said they were oblivious and I truly hope that is the case. If not, shame on them!

The soda thing makes me sad. I just passed out trail magic in NH on the 4th as I was day hiking a trail. Fresh oranges and homemade blueberry muffins. If you ladies were there, you would have gotten more than your fair share. Keep hiking! Hope to see you in NH

And also what I heard, was the questioning going on in your mind, of what's going on. Whatever was happening, it was him, not you. You girls have done the work for yourself and don't need his validation. You handled it right by not letting him know you noticed. You did just fine without his drinks, karma's a bitch!!! You had the right attitude!!! He should be glad it wasn't me since my sailors mouth would have probably come out, oops, shame on me🤣🤣🤣. I was on that ridge up to Mount Everett a couple of years and camped down the way on the falls trail. Got up early in the morning and hiked back up for the sunrise. Was absolutely stunning!!!!

How many others stood by and watched and said nothing? I find that complacency actually more disturbing than one petty idiot. I mean, if I’d been sitting there and received a soda from a person who made a point of only handing them out to women, or white people, or people who could prove they’d graduated from college or whathaveyou, I don’t think I could have enjoyed the soda. Really, really sad how people sit by and watch these things happen. That is part of the reason WHY they continue to happen. Anyway, y‘all rock!

The sexist soda guy...that was terrible. Also, it would have been good if one of the men hikers receiving sodas had said, "what about her?" -- something like that. Then again, I guess everyone was excited to get a soda and just didn't notice, either. Anyway, good to know the grandson won't be raised that way!

deborah gracie I would be afraid of someone that acts like that and it has me thinking the hikers taking the soda did want to mess with the soda man. But they could have talked to the ladies about it when they were away from him.
@@carolemayer8151 They could have refused to take a soda when they figured out what was going on or given a half drank one back to him. Or even questioned him about not offering any to the ladies. Something. Anything would have been better than just ignoring his rude behavior.
Instead of wondering and talk about it after the fact you could have just told him that you would like to have a soda too. Then we might have a little better insight about what he was all about.
five o clock in the morning???? uggggg OMGGGGGGGGGGGG there is no way I would have to crawl through that trail screaming and crying all the way and watching how close the feet were to the edge freaked me out. i hope that man sees this and realizes what a piece of trash he is. takes all kinds and he just proved there is still men on this earth who are likely alone and will stay alone. he is likely jealous that you three are doing what he cant do and proving women can do anything they want to do.
Also, do not let one bad man define anything about you or your journey. Even if it was shocking, believe me, if he is stupid enough to treat wonderful women like you in such a shitty way? He has more problems than his behavior even shows. Fly in the ointment. Nothing else.
Kristy why didn’t you look the guy in the eye and say “Thank you for the Trail Magic, I would like an ice-cold soda too.” If you want to be treated like an equal, act like one. No doubt that guy was rude and maybe even intentionally so. But you not speaking up for yourself and your buddies is the saddest part of the story. We all need to wake up and act decently in the moment, not stay silent and complain about it later online. I love you guys and want you to make it all the way to Katahdin drinking in every moment of the experience. Take a cue from the frogs, and SPEAK UP FOR YOURSELVES!
It's not about the soda, it's not about us. We were not in it. Just pointing out an interesting and unfortunate dynamic that one man brought to a group of people. If I personally needed something I would speak up.
