I was so lucky to meet them by chance while in Joshua Tree while they were here in the US. It was so amazing and random and even tho I was so dusty and frumpy from camping in the desert they totally took the time to take a picture with me! Made my whole trip! AG4Life!

Let me answer. They're actually really famous in Japan (although AKB48 is far more famous). Atarashii Gakko were doing a live music, broadcast in radio stations, being in the talk shows, for every single week before signing up to 88rising label It was us, the international fans who couldn't find them before because of Victor Entertainment's marketing. They made all Atarashii Gakko's musics and contents only for youtube premium users.

@@user-sc3oh1bw4z what source? video? there's no video to proof it because you have to dig deeper to find it but I followed 4 of them on twitter, and before joined 88rising, they were always active tweeting about performing in certain events, tv shows, radio at least once a week now it's rare to see them active on social media since joining 88rising
well japanese already has many of something like this. for example Keyakizaka46.. their songs have very dark lyric and powerful/weird dance moves too.. check out their song: garasu wo ware, kuroi hitsuji, otona wa shinjiraretakunai, eccentric, etc.. unfortunately they changed name and concept after the main girl left.. now the name is Sakurazaka46.
This was a good step in the right direction, but Atarashii Gakkou still needs their BabyMetal/Sonisphere type performance in order to explode here in the West.

What I was trying to say is that Atarashii Gakkou has yet to have an opportunity like BabyMetal had at Sonisphere in 2014 to show Westerners how good they are. That was the moment BabyMetal arrived on the world stage. Atarashii Gakkou has not had that moment yet, but I look forward to it.

do you know that every japanese group usually have their own theme? and atarashii gakko! full name is "atarashii gakkou no leaders" or leaders of new school (school's president, club president, etc).. that is why they use such costumes.. including red armband. in japan it shows that the person is a leader.. and not wearing uniform and having bold make up are kinda break asian school rules..
why not? if u ever watch babymetal, only one main girl sing most, others mainly dance.. other example is jp all male group "bullet train" and "world order".. we better to stop standarizing singing-dancing groups have to make all members sing like kpop or western group.. 😊
