Just a note that these are not the most technically impressive homebrew on the 7800 and they aren't meant to be. If you want to see the console pushed then look at EXO and ARTI from MuddyFunster, Harpy's Curse and the Dragons Trilogy by Revontuli, and Frenzy, Crystal Quest, and AtariAge Circus from PacManPlus! Not to mention the many others putting out stuff like Darryl, SiO2, and Video61! Not to mention Rikki & Vikki... FrankoDragons stuff has been out a while and I have seen no videos on them. And he deserves a little love especially for seeing some crazy ideas all the way through. Remember to message him on AtariAge if you want a cartridge featuring a pooping William Shatner!
I think there’s room in the 7800 world for the likes of FrankoDragon and his unique takes in addition to those developers producing more polished games. Some of Franko’s works remind me of games that were published in magazines like COMPUTE! back in the day. You have Al and AtariAge on one end of the spectrum producing commercial grade products and there are those on the other end who produce cartridges that look amateurish and that’s the charm. I don’t have any of the games featured in this video, but I do some that he made like Journey of Snail and Merlain II. He didn’t develop the games but he does make the cartridges. They are both 7800 text adventures. I haven’t played them yet. At some point, I’d like to see your take on 7800 text adventures.
There's absolutely room for these games but I also didn't want to give the impression that this is all 7800 homebrew just in case this is somebody's first look. The 7800 has a wide variety of developers, programmers and talent that spans from this style to the more polished style. Good point Socrates!
2:02 I feel personally targeted! 😂 You know I was gonna ask about the 2600+ ! Cool coverage of an interesting group of homebrew. And THANKS for including a way to contact him and get the carts! Too many times you see videos about homebrews you can't get anymore without getting bent over on eBay. Also, kudos to you for being honest about the game's quality level. Stay classy!
Yeah I plan on covering stuff you can get for a little while. I don't know when they'll all come out but I'll keep that the focus. I want to be honest about my experience with each game even if it's not the most positive because I want to maintain my integrity. I found out that even if you praise almost all of somebody's games, if you honestly don't care for one they seem to feel you don't like them. That's not the case though I like everybody doing homebrew especially on the 7800! I would want you guys to tell me if a video I'm doing isn't great so I don't do it anymore. I don't want to put out subpar stuff. I figured most other people would want the same but maybe not...
@@cryptocoffee13 oh no! More people are going to know about the game now and the chance of somebody replicating it is going to increase! And it's all my fault! If you've been pooped on from a roof I sincerely apologize for the part I played in it. With great power comes great responsibility. I learned that today...
I know I'm in the minority but I'm not a fan of home-brews. 90% of them are unoriginal and often share the same mechanics as older classic games. I'll stick to buying the classics before they get out of my price range. But love the channel👍
Nothing wrong with not getting into homebrew. I was the same way for the longest time but once I completed my 7800 library I decided to look into them so my hobby could continue.
