man.... this one is a favorite now. Love to be jamming one day with you...you remind me of my best friend who pulled me into this 30 years ago. RIP Ernst my friend, brother and mentor.
Wow i haven't seen a black one before. i've been to a few studios back in the day to repair, sofware glitches etc.. I made all my choons on atari back in the day. I had Q-base, ST1040, hi res monitor, Akai 950, Korg DMS1, Korg prophecy. From the Original DJ Criss Angel. Lost all my floppy data. Only close friends heard them, before i could play them on the radio. Good memories though. i use Presonus studio 1 thats all you need.
These tunes give me goosebumps we lived through the best days ever with the Raves and there was a lot to choose from, I spent most of my wages on Raves and other things lol.thanks for sharing your epic skills you are a fucking legend 1💚
Still got the Atari ST my dad bought when I was 11, it's been given the same spray paint treatment :) used Steinberg pro 12,mainly to write drum parts at the time. I got an Amiga 1200 in the mid to late 90s and made a few tracks in OctaMED that got realesed. Recently picked up an Amiga 1200 which has been given a face-lift, sprayed black and with black keycaps :) after 20 odd years of PC based production I want to dive back onto octamed! I have an Akai S2000 but it was never the most user friendly model :(
I got my hands on a 520ste with Cubase and notator for this kind of thing. I am used to making music on purely modern equipment, so I decided to combine my love of old computers and music. Thanks for this video. Not only is the track incredible, it shows me what a truly powerful system this thing can be.
If you don't use the YM2149 (and DMA if you got an STe or Falcon) the sounds don't come fro the Atari itself but from the samplers/synths ! Shoutout to Alec and ATR, had the super chance to borrowed one of my STe for one of their shows in Montreal and the band signed it ! :) Great people for real, they put all their rage on their music but they have hearts of gold !!!
Their album "Is This Hyperreal?" from 2011 was also "produced on an Atari computer with 2MB of RAM". At least the speech synth Atari SAM says so at the end. ;)
Blindin mate, which do you prefer using octamed or cubase? I like octaned but find it a pain to record live midi in to, whereas cubase is a dream but no so good for intricate programming...
Looks great! I have just bought an Atari STfm to sequence my MIDI gear as I am sick and tired of endless MIDI flutter, sync and delay problems over the last 15 years! Can you give me advice on getting a display on a modern monitor/screen? The STfm also cam with a little VGA module. I only plan on using it for music so can stick to 1 resolution. Is Cubase the best program for sequencing MIDI? I also like trackers. Any advice would be greatly appreciated.
I have a Atari 1040 st I need a monitor , mouse and software where can I get these things I know it's old school I'm just wanted to give it a test run , I enjoy your tutorial great sound
an 8mhz processor, burnt in operationg system, with up to 4mb memory max and a poxy floppy trounces todays overbusy and 'cerebrally challenging' flow destroying and overpriced modern sequencers. this makes it SO TEMPTING to dig out me old boyz and see if they still work! dayam i still have that original Logic / notator release with that 64 midi channel dongle!!?? ahh yes but didnt we all have a cracked copy of Cubase v2 bak in tha dayz man? you kno, i even have an Atari Stacy 4 mb / 40mb hd knocking around somewhere😳 thanks for this man, its a reet banger innit😎😜
I just got a STacy, fixed the internal drive, put an external Ultrasatan on it, replaced the display with a bright new NOS lcd, replaced the keyboard with a NOS one so all keys work and just put Cubase 3 on it. I have and Emu Emax II to hook up to it but I have no good tracks and I suck. You got any tracks you could send me to help me get this thing going?! I need help 😂
