Back in 1999 when I was 16, I popped this CD into my CD-ROM and was assaulted by a Quiktime file of this video. I watched this video so many fucking times I had to buy not one, not two, not three, but SIX different copies of 60 Second Wipe Out. Played this CD to DEATH as a teenager, and damn near ruined my PC over it. Life changing shit. I'm 40, and somehow, ATR's message is more relevant than ever.

@@benoliver7156 Do Androids Dream of Electric Sheep was published all the way back in the 60s, then novels like Neuromancer and Snow Crash came out. You can argue that cyberpunk wasn't as defined, but it definitely was a thing for a long time. And ATR fits extremely well with cyberpunk themes of non-conformism and such.

Although many works that qualify as cyberpunk predate it, the Cyberpunk genre is frequently associated with "Neuromancer", a *1984* science fiction novel written by American-Canadian writer William Gibson. Atari Teenage Riot, on the other hand, is a German band formed in Berlin in *1992*, eight years later.
Here because I was Googling information on a concert I went to in 1997. I was under the recollection that it was Beck and The Cardigans, but apparently this band came on before the Cardigans. I do not remember that part of the show but man what a night.

good memories. Bought some CDs of ATR. 1996/97... sadly never saws them live .... good music. perfect mix between anarcho hardcore punk and gabbah/techno music of 90s.....
Without ATR there would be no Death Grips. ATR was an absolute anomaly and completely brilliant. They birthed a genre and they didn't even need to. They could have pulled it back a bit and just been Industrial and done just fine, but they went full on crazy!

Some random (assumed) guy dressed as Max Headroom hijacked a Chicago tv station signal during Dr. Who and just mooned everyone live. If you get curious type "The Most Notorious TV Hijack of All Time" here in youtube and check. I don't know but to me it feels connected a bit with this video's vibe. So cool

One of the funniest things I ever saw was an "Atari Teenage Riot" concert in the Melkweg in Amsterdam late nineties probably 1998, in the second room Adam Beyer (at his absolute techno prime) was killing it; I was there to see Beyer. Beyer was playing until 5 or 6 am so once "Atari Teenage Riot" finished the crowd moved across to Beyer. The look of astonishment on their faces as he rearranged everything they thought they knew about hardcore electronic music was priceless; no quarter given, he fucked that room up gloriously.
TF are you on about? Beyer was always straight up big-room conservative kinda techno. If anything, it was ATR who was rearranging people's idea of electronic music at the time. People probably were simply astonished at how fucking boring he was.

Is that expensive? Google said that's like $25 US. For here, that's really cheap! Our concerts are usually about $50+ for something like that. WAY more for current pop artists.
