This is the best review I've seen of this. I've been really curious about these games but thought it was far too expensive for a game I hadnt heard of. Im going to buy it this weekend :)
I recommend. I’m an old school rpg fan and wasn’t sure about these because of its art style. I’m just not typically into this sort of aesthetic but gave it a go in any case and it was great.
I’m just playing this now after finishing the Ryza series and I actually find the menus and controls in this game a bit simpler. The combat and synthesis aren’t as robust but I am still liking it quite a bit.
I just downloaded this game on the switch and it's my first Atelier game and i love it so far easy to understand and very fun gameplay it looks beautiful on switch.
I never heard of this series. However, after surfing through your videos over the past few days I have come to the conclusion that we have very similar game tastes. Bright colours, check. Good story, check. Hate rouguelikes, check. Loves cutesy sim experiences, check. I guess this means I’m going to have to try this game out.
Alucard8319 haha... so nice of you to check in. I actually stopped playing, when Ryza came out as the character appealed to me more. I LOVE Ryza. I have also ordered the Dusk trilogy from Play-Asia and I’m waiting on that, and I’ve started the Mysterious trilogy. Oh and I’m currently playing Nelke as well. I’m waiting out a bit longer to see if the Arland trilogy gets a physical release (or I might buy the PS3 versions). But I do want to play the Arland trilogy before going back to Lulua. Anyways.. that was a long winded way of saying that I LOVE the Atelier series.
This review is spot on. I am a newcomer to the series and made the 'switch' thanks to this video ;]. I already have Lydie & Suelle lined up to play next!! I am addicted to this gameplay.
Just before I started studying! Can you make an overall video comparing all of the Atelier games since you adore this series so we can know which game is for which type of gamer? Keep it up
For me personally, this is the best review of Atelier Lulua. Lydie and Suelle was my first in the series. I was pulled by that game when ai watched your review of that game. Now I'm being pulled again...this will be the beginning of my Atelier journey haha. I love your reviews. I was really waiting for your review of Lulua. 😎👍
@@pheobetirzah1115 Yes I have finished it and clocked 165 hours. At first it would seem slow and daunting because you cannot really feel that you are becoming stronger but once you get the hang of synthesis and traits which you can transfer, it gets so addicting to just push through and grind some more to make your equipments stronger. I recommend playing at hard difficulty at the beginning for more money and exp.
I'm so happy I found you 😭 I think you are the only person on RU-vid that makes videos about Atelier. I love this series so much and wanted to find videos to help introduce one of my friends to Atelier. Thank you 😭💜
So excited to play this game. Thanks for the review. I have not played any of this series and watching your review....I am hooked! Payday tomorrow cannot arrive soon enough! ❤️
I'm slowly getting back into my jrpg's after spending 9 months playing all 3 Xenoblade Chronicle games. These games certainly gives you the freedom to explore with a definite anime feel to them, much like XC.
This is it! I'm doing it Ircha! I'm taking the deep dive into this series! After finding your channel by looking into this series however long ago that was, I'm finally coming full circle and getting into this series. It will be my actual first Atelier game since I was never actually able to decide which one to buy first. If you say this is the one, this is the one! I'm trusting you! I'm so excited!
I'm pretty sure each game is it's own thing, so you don't have to go through them in order or anything. They are divided into miniseries, so in each miniseries, you might see characters from the previous games in that series turn up, but I don't think there's any overall storyline or anything, so you probably don't have to worry about playing the games in a miniseries in order either!
Ahh, I'm pretty sure this was my first video that I watched from you (if not one that was specifically about explaining the Atelier series). You are THE go to for these kind of games!
I’m glad you said it was the best place to start. I really want this game but was concerned about where to start. I’ll definitely be picking it up soon
Lulua is turning out to be one of my favorites in the series. I agree the music could be better. A lot of it is just different arrangements of the world map music. I'm not sure which one is my all time favorite yet.
Became very curious of the Atelier series and started watching all your reviews! Considering your recommendation to start start with the girl who you like the most I just ordered Lulua! I’m so excited to start this series. Thank you so much of making me aware:)
These are one of those game series that has a massive library but you never heard of it. Has very classic turn based RPG combat which is the reason I played one of them. It's 50% crafting/alchemy though. It does have a sort of lean towards attracting female players but the combat is very nostalgic that I had to play it.
So glad to hear you liked this one after the previous Atelier game that you hated although that one to be fair was a spinoff. While these games do feel a bit rough on some aspects, one thing the Atelier series definitely has going for it that sets it apart, is its gorgeous shoujo watercolour artstyle which is what drew me in initially. It is, as you say beautiful. I don't know how to feel about the high pitched Japanese voices though, I guess they are fitting in this cute universe, but let's just say there is a reason I can't watch anime in Japanese.
I love this game as it gives you so much to do and whenever I play it, I feel like I am watching an anime sometimes due to its art style and vibrant colors. I still have lots of progress though but its been on and off with the game. This is my first Atelier Lulua game series as well but I do like the character dynamic relationships as well.
Just ordered the physical version after watching your review and now I rewatch your video again and again because I can't wait 😊 It also is my first game from the series, I hope I like it so I can buy all the other atelier games 😂
Plays like the earlier Atelier games you say? I'm glad you have said this because I was unsure about getting into the new games. I'll have to pick this up.
You always review games I'm interested in. You've no idea how many games i bought because of watching your vids! Love your channel! Last instalment i played was Lydie & Suelle, just looking to jump back into the series. I definitely prefer character design in LuLua over Ryza so most likely i'll start with this one :-)
I'd like to see a game with a main character inspired from Sandor Clegane which wakes up in a fantasy world and starts screwing up the entire said world by humanizing all the characters.
Coming to these games over a year after release is discouraging as there are no mass produced copies available. Scalpers have scooped up remaining copies. I can’t find any for less than $100 USD, and I refuse to pay that for what should be a $60 game. Let’s hope there’s a reprint.
Great review.😃 I'm thinking about buying atelier lulua for the Nintendo switch, since it really looks great and amazing. Haven't really played another atelier game since the atelier iris games on the ps2,so it might be great to get back into the atelier rpg series again.😊
Gust is making a RPG based on the manga and anime series "Fairy Tail". That means more people are likely to look into their other works, including Atelier.
Nice review your reviews always make me smile because you can tell you really enjoy the games you like! 😊 I like the Atelier series because they are addicting and the characters are designed very cute. Also the more slice of life nature of the games is relaxing and a nice break from when I'm playing Bloodborne and Dragon's Dogma or Skyrim. Thanks for the review I have my copy but haven't started playing yet.
i'm going through the PS2 games right now they are pretty good, also playing dusk so i'm intrigued by the series. very different but similiar from the ps2 this came up on my feed and hadnt heard of this game! thanks!
@@ircha you always do ircha... Just downloaded the Castlevania series for the Nintendo switch ...great times playing these games growing up... Okie dokie
I preordered the game from Best Buy and they delivered it through UPS... UPS sucks and rarely delivers games on release date. Even worse they delivered it to the wrong address AND because someone signed for it... I can't even get Best Buy to send me a new copy... so I am stuck waiting a week to a month before I can even play this game... 😭 sorry for the rant hahah... this was an awesome video! I love your little dances haha they were cute 👍🏼 anyway, keep up the awesome energy and I hope to see you soon... I hope to see your review on Dragon's Dogma when it comes out.
@@ircha maybe but it's only cute because it's not scripted hahah it's just you being a dork... that's why I watch you are genuine. so keep being you and I will keep watching.
Heya Ircha! Awesome vid as always! Love your accent and humour! ;) Ordered my copy of Lulua for the Switch. The order will ship together with Persona Q2. :D
...oh and my physical copies of Arland trilogy (Switch, Japanese) are waiting for me at my post office! Those are so great to have in my collection! I just wish they had English support. But it's not the end of the world, they're staying sealed anyway. :D
Have you played the "Tales of" games? If so, what do you think of them? My first one was tales of xillia and boy was i hooked! I collected every game after that haha.
Ive always thought they looked neat - but I always heard about the time sensitive parts (time limits) and that kept me away! Glad to hear time limits arent here!!!
Hey can I get these if I’m new to the series. Also will I like it if I like xenoblade? Can’t resist this graphical style. Oh wait just saw you say don’t have to play others.
can't decide if i want to play this on PC or my switch. hmm... i played Ryza on PC and it looked crazy amazing , but lulua seems like its not all about the visuals like ryza
Thank for the amazing review I’m decided to buy this game but I’m waited your review and your review really makes me want to play it now But do you recommend buy it digitally or physically Because i Saw the digital version of the game have a lot of downloadable content
not much for JRPGs not even a big fan of Final Fantasy except 15 and 12 which had open combat where you were free to move around and could run around enemies i'm just not too into trying to go to a location for a quest and haveing to waste 10 minutes on random encounters SO was this a new port to the switch i didn't catch if you said so or not?
In terms of over world etc it seems similar to say final fantasy tactics but with exploration and the obvious combat difference would this be accurate?
I recently started playing dragon quest 11 and it's kind of my first dragon quest game ever and this game looks amazing it Connor reminds me of dragon quest 11 just with a girl which I think is awesome I mean more power to when there's females protagonist
Its currently at 50% off, anyone think its worth the price? I only ask because even at 50% its still expensive if I had to get all dlc, and for a 2019 game its a bit steep.
Atelier games are chill and fun to play however since i play every of them since ps2 era, im getting less interested in those. Ryza battles didnt make the cut for me. Glad Sophie 2 is coming and being a classic turn based as usual 🥰
Grate video 😀 I’ve not played any of these game, I guess they slipped my radar, but now seeing it.. it’s probably not for me, my wife will love it however. I play a lot of RPG games but this one just don’t jump out at me like Xenoblade or Finial Fantasy, Fire Emblem, Dragon Quest etc. I’ll pick it up for my wife and probably have a look at it just out of interest.
@@ircha,thx, I thought so, that it´s not mandatory to play the prequels, to understand and enjoy the new game, but as they are already out on Switch, I would like to enjoy that extra layer, that the references bring to the new game.
@csbkota be advised tho that if you buy the Arland DX trilogy collection on the eshop, two of the three games will be downloaded onto your system memory. Both of which are about 8 GB while one of them will be downloaded on to your micro SD card. Would not be wise to buy the games individually either.
Question for you . I thought I just needed one more Atelier Game which was Lula for the switch. Apparently I need the arland trilogy where did you find your's because I can't find a NA copy . And the ones I find are from other countries for over $300. Please help. And love ur videos
@@ircha Oh I found Lulua. But my ADHD won't be satisfied until I have the set physically. That's like my wife is mad at me because I'm getting them for the switch and PS2 and PS3 lol. Certain games I wanna complete the series for all consoles. Right now the 3 series I'm obsessing over is Atelier, Silent Hill, & Tales of series
